wrong on all accounts: France has had more terrorist attacks, not mass shootings. There's a difference. Norway had ONE mass shooting in 2014: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_shootings_in_Norway That's only 1, the US has a mass shooting every month.Belgium also had only ONE mass shooting between 2008 and 2014. That's ONE mass shooting in a 5 year period. The USA has a mass shooting on a regular basis.
Read what I wrote. "Public mass shootings", "per capita basis".fee.org/.../
They Norway and Belgium only had ONE over the course of several years. That is not more public mass shootings per capita basis. You're either lying or don't understand basic math.
You obviously did not read the data. From 2009 through 2015, Norway had a rate of 0.197 and Belgium had a rate of 0.179 mass public shootings per million people. Over the same period of time, the US had 0.078 mass public shootings per million people.Norway only has a population of about 5M and Belgium a little over twice that. Of course they are not going to have very many, but that is not the correct metric. The correct comparison is how many they have per capita in order to adjust for orders of magnitude difference in population sizes.
that's because the US has more people. That's the only reason. The US still has more mass shootings.
It is the number per capita that matters when comparing places of different populations. That is why the US uses murder rate, rape rate, foreclosure rate, unemployment rate, etc. Learn some math.
You're taking countries with a low population and using that as an example to justify your point of view. Looking at countries with strict gun control and you won't find mass shootings on a regular basis like the US.
The whole point is to compare apples and apples. That is statistically done by taking the number of incidents and dividing by the population. This is done ALL the time for ALL kinds of comparative data.
You clearly don't understand what's going on: my house has the lowest mass shootings per capita basis: I've had 0 mass shootings and if I did have 1 it would be %0.0000000001 because I'm the only person living here. And guess what? There's no guns in my house. Now is your illogical argument about per capita basis any use here? No.
You need to learn math. The per capita shooting rate at your house is indeed zero. But if you had one, it would be 1.00. You also do not need to have a gun in your house to have a shooting in your house, as any armed burglar can tell you.
you need to learn basic logic, because your statistic isn't relevant here.
Dude, I'm an engineer with a minor in economics. I have written software that utilizes random variables and conducts statistical analysis. You are just wrong.
Not if you simply put armed guards in these public places though. I agree it should not be like the old west but put armed guards in schools and movie theatres and way less people will try something. As long as these places are soft targets to hit these mentally ill people will keep doing it.
@OrderofKaos : You are talking about making America an armed camp.
I am talking about solving a problem. a lot of people will say England banned guns so we can but the truth is I have heard all kinds of things about how banks in England get robbed all the time the criminals have guns the cops have clubs so they can't even stop them. We can't ban guns so we have to do something so even if they have to keep a sniper on the roof of these places to stop mass shootings then that is what they need to do.
I'm pretty sure a gun store is a guarantee to be shot if something went down. In the real world (not Call of Duty) there's these things called "cross fire" and "ricochet". I think the latest COD has ricochet and their multiplayer has friendly fire.
Hell if I know I dont play a lot of cod or whatever, and mainly a joke, but seriously, dont rob a gun store and expect it not to be called suicide
That scenario has actually happened and innocent bystanders were shot as well as the robber. The safest place is a military base or police station with people that know how to use a gun properly.
We can be like Japan and outlaw guns so nobody can have guns except the police.
good luck with that
with the help of almighty Satan we can acheive this.
wrong, switzerland has extremely strict gun control laws. www.loc.gov/.../switzerland.php
