so if governments are there for the people rather than the corporations how are the likes of exxon still recieving 750 billion dollars a year in subsidies in the face of mass protests over climate change. i think if you look deeper you will find its corporations running the whole show and politicians are often mere puppets
@wankiam I don't disagree, however, you've seen the "dark sides" of our country's past and present leaders. Can you not tell me that if for whatever the reason, the government wanted Exxon shut down that they wouldn't take it into their own hands? The ability to bring a mass corporation like that is power.
you have the illusion of a two party system so i understand your confusion but its simple fact that its giant multinational corporations that control governments. they have the power. it is not the other way around.

If the government wanted to shut down Microsoft in this day and age it would be because Apple threw a lot more money at the politicians than they did.
