Self-interest is partly in the eye of the beholder and partly only discernible over time and not necessarily self-evident. In 1984, Democratic voters thought it in their self-interest to nominate a presidential candidate who pledged to raise taxes. At the time it seemed like sound policy and refreshing truth telling. 49 states disagreed. So the question is absurd where it is not simply silly. Do Republican voters go against their self-interest. Yup. Part of the costs of being human and only being able at the best of times to discern real self-interest. Just ask President Hillary Clinton.
They’re the party of small government until it’s abortion or tax breaks.
Yeah we don't like them usually either sadly. I'm in the Bible Belt so...
Me too. And Dems ain’t much better, but there’s no question poor right wingers vote for tax cuts for rich people.

@Asker- this is nons nose anyway, it smells like hapless partisan drivel. Own it. Adimit you’re an idiot.
I’ll admit the mistake if you admit Trump was a mistake.
@OddBeMe- the question remains: how could you make such a colossal mistake?
Agreed. But the anti quarantine protesters aren’t trying to make life better.
There are idiot's on both sides, and extremist that are the loud minority. But we the people have the power and we need to be united.
It’s wrong to believe both sides are equal. Repubs believe in way more bullshit than Dems.
