Amazing how "progressive" Hitler's socialist policies were.
Like what? The Volkswagen Bug? Nothing good in this world stemmed from Hitler. Not a thing.
@loveslongnails The first anti-smoking campaigns, massive improvements on animal rights, improvements on labour laws, loads of medical information advancements and treatments, and other more minor achievements. You can't be in power for as long as he was without making any good advancements, obviously, the way a lot of say the medical research was done was beyond disgusting however it doesn't change that we benefited and still benefit from it. I'm in no way saying he was a good man, he was the furthest thing from it, however, I'm not going to deny the truth of the situation either. I do believe no credit should go to him personally or any of the people who while they made advancements committed atrocities.
I can't dispute he passed laws to protect animals, or put everyone to work for "the betterment of the Reich". But humans were used against their will for experiments, and thousands died. I can't believe the same advances wouldn't have come without 8 million plus dead and a world war.
@loveslongnails You're probably right but they didn't, they came from these awful things, it doesn't make the means right but it doesn't change that they benifit us.
I disagree. For one thing, smoking significantly INCREASED world wide following WWII, and it wasn't until recently that its slowed down. Then along comes vaping, and it's right back up again without knowing the longer term effects of it. As for animal rights, that's still hit and miss depending where you go and animal cruelty is very much prevalent in the world. Medical advances? Hmm... we learned that you can't fill a human's lungs with seawater and have them breathe in the ocean, from the Nazi's.
@loveslongnails Lmao wow what dd you do 3 seconds of internet research? First off they did run the first anti-smoking campaigns it's success wasn't huge but it's what kickstarted other campaigns and if you're really stupid enough to think smoking rates are much lower today (vaping is it's own issue) I can't help you. Yes, people still smoke but if you think it's anywhere near as prevalent you're honestly either a complete idiot or horribly misinformed. Acts of animal cruelty don't change that laws prevent it, nazi generally was one of the first counties to introduce decent animal rights laws and today's animal rights laws in Germany is pretty much still the same, many countries also took on the laws in some way. Lastly, I think you need to look into the medical research the nazi's done, they went about it in a horrific was so it won't be an easy read, but trust me there is A LOT we got from those horrific experiments. Yes they never should have happened but they did and they caused advancements.
Listen dip wad, talking like this " Yes, people still smoke but if you think it's anywhere near as prevalent you're honestly either a complete idiot or horribly misinformed " only makes you sound the complete idiot, which I'm about show you that you are when it comes to smoking. For your information, smoking rates are indeed lower today in developed nations as a whole, then 60 to 70 years ago. Here are some charts for you. In the US, the greatest use was between 1940 and 1960, peaking in 1950 ( source... cancercontrol.cancer.gov/.../m8_2.pdf) So while many developed nations have indeed seen a decline, undeveloped nations have seen an increase, while a few developed nations are still in the top ten smokers per capita worldwide. The ten countries with the highest smoking rates are: Kiribati (52.40%) Nauru (47.50%) Greece (42.65%) Serbia (41.65%) Russia (40.90%) Jordan (40.45%) Indonesia (39.90%) Bosnia and Herzegovina (38.60%) Lebanon (38.30%) Chile (38.00%)
Your assertion that Hitler's most failed anti-smoking campaign "kickstarted" campaigns in other countries is without evidence. AND, despite German scientists making a credible link between smoking and lung cancer (don't get excited, other scientists were on it too, the Nazi's got there first), tobacco was never outlawed in Nazi Germany !! It was too important a source of revenue. By 1941 tobacco taxes made up a whopping one-twelfth of the government’s income. In wartime, this was important funding. The campaign against tobacco ended with the defeat of the Third Reich, and the research tying smoking to cancer was lumped in with the atrocities of Nazi Germany. In 1945, Astel committed suicide, fearing that his wartime crimes would catch up to him. (According to Proctor, Astel helped organize the euthanasia program that murdered 200,000 people, as well as having a hand in the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question”).Here's the source: www.theatlantic.com/.../ Cigarette consumption skyrocketed world wide
"trust me there is A LOT we got from those horrific experiments." Do 3 seconds of internet research and cite some sources. I have no trust in your statements - they lack documentation and sourcing and amount to nothing more than conjecture at this point. Plus.. you have no manners and you're rude.
@loveslongnails I have no manners with you as you've been disrespectful and rude this entire conversation, you earn respect sweetie. I'm not sure what your chats were about on smoking as they proved my point, not yours. Smoking has decreased throughout the world, that was my point thank you for proving me right and making yourself look even more stupid. 'don't get excited, other scientists were on it too, the Nazi's got there first'Excited? Wtf is wrong with you? Just because I can see the truth and pull my feelings away from it doesn't mean I in any way accept what the nazi's done, I'm just not so overly emotional I can't see things that caused benefits to us came from them. 'tobacco was never outlawed in Nazi Germany' Taking people's freedom away is not the right way to deal with things you psycho, encourage people to stop smoking you don't ban, good to know you're probably not stable. 'The campaign... Jewish Question' Yes I'm aware that doesn't mean it wasn't the first anti-smoking campaign, and again you're misinterpreting admitting a few good things came from the nazi's for a acceptance of them. 'Do 3 seconds of internet research and cite some sources. I have no trust in your statements - they lack documentation and sourcing' Do it your fucking self, I don't owe you anything, I know I'm right and I have interest in your approval, stop making this worse and look into this.
''Nothing good in this world stemmed from Hitler. Not a thing. '' he set himself up for failure with this opening statement lol just too easy.
Proving once again that you're a gaping asshole, here's what you said: "if you're really stupid enough to think smoking rates are much lower today (vaping is it's own issue) I can't help you."Then it your last tirade you said: " Smoking has decreased throughout the world, that was my point thank you for proving me right and making yourself look even more stupid. "So who's the fucking idiot... you. I SAID from the start, smoking increased greatly after WWII, but has decreased in recent years in most developed countries, but increased in non-developed countries, as I listed. I even gave you charts, and sources, something you wouldn't do. So you berated me for saying the same thing as you, dummy. Yes, people still smoke but if you think it's anywhere near as prevalent you're honestly either a complete idiot or horribly misinformed. You were the one who started with the insults and name calling, because... well, you're an asshole, and your rude. I don't need to earn anything from you. You haven't the understanding or mind power to agree to disagree. You didn't even look at any information I gave you. Why bother, you know you're right, and that's all you need to know. So now, I'm done with your juvenile insults.
@loveslongnails buddy, your first opening point was obviously wrong and I am as non biased as can be. Just accept this L and move on to greater things
Just shows what damage a typo can do an "are" instead of an "aren't". And they are both arguing the same point. At least you both now agree Hitler introduced animal welfare laws. And you know a bit more about history. Silverlining maybe.
Are you kidding you realise what was going in America at the time.
@American_Centurion You also realize what happened after WWII in America? I doubt that would have happened if they didn't see that stark inhumanity perpetrated by the Nazis.
Lol your crazy. Look up a history book, in the 20s the kkk was marching 40,000 strong in Washington DC. The government was running Eugenics programs to strelise black women and the mentally challenged. The government was experimenting on blacks. Between the civil war and 20th century millions of native Americans were killed and put into reservations.Nazi ideology wasn't new, most high minded educated people in Europe and the Americas believed the same thing.
@American_Centurion All of that happened up until Hitler was overthrown. And most of it wasn't quite at his level. The civil rights movement started in the 1950s; considering that is when the American GIs were getting back to their lives do you think it is a coincidence that they weren't going to put up with that kind of racism anymore?
6 million native Americans were wiped off the face of the earth. The civil rights movement picked up steam in the 1950s but had been around in one form or another since the time of Lincoln.
the UK also starved 4 million indians to death too. I dont think hitler was any worse, he was just the loser.
The Japanese emperor had 35 million Chinese killed. Me I think Hitler was a necessary evil, sad that its war and monsters like hitler than are the only thing to drive human development further.
