Is taking medication as part of your daily life supposed to be seen as normal?

Anonymous
I live in the US and I see so many ads for medicines for everything from joint pain, to safe sex, to bipolar disorder.

I've also noticed that people take pills on a daily basis. Is this normal? Or is it the pharma lobby and media creating this?

I don't see this level of incidence to taking drugs in any other country. Is this something normal for a significant portion of the population to have anxiety, depression and have to take meds just to go about their day?

I'm going anonymous because I feel like I'll be attacked for asking this.
Not normal. But it's the reality today for many.
