right it's like saying, because I don't have a gun, doesn't mean im peaceful, just means I don't have a gun
Sure. But, more importantly, just because I do have a gun don't mean I'm violent, just that I have a gun. Me or anyone having that tool doesn't inherently harm anyone at all — it has no victims. That's what I'm getting at.
i guess it comes down to, how do you prove "self defense" if you wind up shooting someone
They can CAUSE violence, but, they themselves, aren't violent
Like the other guy said would you be okay with someone stealing your stuff because "it wasn't a violent crime and shouldn't be illegal"?
you're implying i wasn't home. what if i was home, was sleeping, woke up and tried to get him out of my house, with a bat, is that illegal?
Drugs don't cause violence, prohibition does. People don't get killed over caffeine or sugar, which you can readily access in stores without any special procedures, and usually not alcohol, either, for which consumption just has an age limit (and, mind you, causes much more violence than shrooms or weed). Relegating certain chemicals to the criminal realm means criminal actors will be the majority of those using and trading it. Bring drugs into the light and treat addiction as a health issue rather than a criminal issue, and watch society improve tremendously (don't believe me? Look at Portugal). But, of course, the war on drugs provides far too much power and profit for the state to give it up...

That's why I'm asking, why are there SOME non violent things, that aren't legal
Is there something unclear to you about what constitutes a crime? Do you really need an explanation of why stealing someone's car or breaking into their house is considered a crime even though there may not be violence involved? Are you punking us?
you're basically saying every thing that is "immoral", should be illegal
No. It may be immoral in the eyes of some to have sex with someone if you are not married to them. I don't think that should be a crime. But isn't property theft a little more serious than just being immoral? I honestly don't know how to answer your question cause it is so surreal anyone would even ask this and need it to be explained to them. Not to be unkind, but are you high?
My point is, if things like drugs and upskirting should be illegalthan shouldn't "cheating" be illegal?
Society decides what behaviors should and shouldn't be allowed, should and shouldn't be legal. I'm sorry the law doesn't allow you to do 8 balls of blow and then invade someone's privacy by looking up their skirt. That's really too bad for you. Most kids stop trying to look up girl's skirts when they hit puberty. Maybe try to have a real relationship with a woman and you wouldn't have to be looking up the skirt of strangers.
That was my only point hereis that, everything "immoral" OUGHT TO BE ILLEGAL
So you want Sharia law or something similar where the people in charge decide what's immoral and an insult to the scriptures and make that illegal? Women not covering their face properly is immoral and against the law? A woman that was raped has had sex out of marriage and that is immoral so she should be stoned to death? That would be great. I'm sure everyone would like to see that. Maybe consider moving to Afghanistan and joining the Taliban. I'm sure they'd love to have you.
then why do we have our law makers, making the lawswhat is the point OF THE SENATE
Give it a fucking rest already, OK?
