Just to give a hypothetical example...Suppose:1. Billyjoejimbob Redneck is a white KKK member about to burn a cross on the lawn of the home of MLK Blackpanther and then lynch him.2. A UFO appears overhead attracted by the burning cross.3. The UFO beams up Billyjoejimbob and MLK and puts them in a room for a while. The aliens may be recording them, but, it doesn't matter. The aliens, for now, are leaving the two men alone.Question:At this moment, who is Billyjoejimbob's best friend? MLKAt this moment, who is MLK's best friend? Billyjoejimbob.Why?Previously...1) From BJJB's perspective, he was part of "Us" (White supremacists) and MLK was one of the hated "Them".2) Form MLK's perspective, he was part of "Us" (black people) and BJJB was one of the hated "Them".Ah, but, NOW, MLK and BJJB know a vast amount more about each other than they do about the aliens. To BJJB, MLK is now part of "Us" and, to MLK, BJJB is now part of "Us". These two men are unbelievably stressed out not knowing anything about their situation except that, to each of them, another human is with them - a human who may help them survive the situation. Yep, BJJB and MLK are the new "Us" and the aliens are the new "Them".While in space for a few days, the aliens leave the men alone in their room other than beaming in meals. The men have nothing to do except talk to each other wondering about the aliens but also, to take their minds off the aliens, talking about things in common like wondering how the Atlanta Braves are going to do when baseball resumes.(more)
After those few days in space, the aliens return the men to the very spot where they were abducted...One has to wonder...Will MLK and BJJB both have each other in his new "Us" or are things going to revert back? Chances are, a breakthrough has been made and MLK and BJJB will forever have that shared experience... and hopefully have their bigotries about the other's groups fade away. It's the getting to know each other and transitioning each other from "Them" to "Us" that makes the bigotries of the men about each other begin to disappear.
Oh, by the way, the root of tribal feuds was an ongoing contest over resources and women. This is why black people having stuff, especially if it's "free," is so upsetting to rural Americans who, combined, pay maybe 0.000001% of the total tax revenue. And thats not an insult - the cost of living in rural areas is lower, so too are wages. But the poverty level is fixed nationally. Most rural Americans qualify for welfare, but many don't take it because the cost of living is so low in their area they don't need government assistance. Then, of course, there is "stealing women" or whatever. These feelings can be invoked independent of how one views the "free stuff" thing. Interracial relationships bother a lot of people who aren't really bothered by black people on welfare. And of course this who are bothered by it (i. e. Emmett Till).

Very true. White people are just trying too desperately to distance themselves from past racism. Racism has evolved over time and become less evil as a result. The belief itself of a race being superior isn’t harmful. It’s only bad if you resort to violence and use it as justification to mistreat others.
@Jack9949 I couldn't have said it better.People of all colors would be a lot more believable if they admitted that they have "racist" views of people of other races but that they control those feelings in order to help maintain a peaceful society. It's a natural instinct to be tribal. We should all admit that and do our best to get along with everyone.
I think we should all recognize that "racism" isn't a bad thing, it's a natural thing. It's not something people do intentionally. It's an animal instinct. But we have to control our instincts to get along. If people looked at it that way, I think it would help a lot.
For sure. Although I am most comfortable within my own race, that doesn’t mean I’m unwilling to ever trust or befriend someone of another.
Very nice concluding paragraph there
I won’t laugh! 😫😂
I am a Man. What need is there for labels. I will say again, I am a Man.
