I am even more confused now at the conclusions you're apparently drawing from what I wrote.
People with depression and other mental disorders co-occurring with suicidality experience a lack of insight and judgement. In fact, it's something psychologists look for when diagnosing a client. The depressed mind has clouded reasoning and is not capable of appropriate problem-solving perception. That's why depression is a mental illness, in this way no different than a person with psychosis interpreting the world in a way that isn't entirely true to life.
It's completely valid, and my heart goes out to, anyone who finds life unbearable. But that doesn't mean their perception is necessarily true or realistic
