yes there was indeed xD quite an enormous one too. can you tell me, what your impression was from what you gathered from the media that you consumed?
@joeldalton Out of curiosity, how much do you hear about the Belarusian protests in the states?
I'm proud of the Europeans for finally standing up to this covid bullshit.
@Marilynjuana I heard some, but honestly didn't read further. Only posts on reddit popped up.
@joeldalton By the way, Germany has been averaging at around 1500 cases per day, which is double of what is considered "safe". The last comment kind of rubbed me the wrong way since the virus IS deadly to people at risk. Here in Estonia we are being hit by the second wave and it's no joke.
@Marilynjuana germany has averaged 1500 cases a day because the number of tests has been more than doubled.the number of tests you make is directly proportional to the numeber of cases you get. if you rise the tests, you rise the number of found infections. that surprises nobody.you can only claim that "the number of infections" are rising, if you keep the number of tests constant OR if you account for the number of tests, which is not done. the government is lying. the numbers aren't even fake. everyone who looks a bit further than the first result on goolge can easily see that for themselves.
@Marilynjuana The New York Times just reported that 90% of the positive cases are of people who have too little of the virus to spread it to others, because the tests are too sensitive and pick up other coronaviruses (like the common cold). The # cases considered "safe" is just an arbitrary number someone came up with. I feel for the people who have died from this disease. I also feel for people who have had their livelihoods destroyed, who have let anxiety and depression creep in because of the constant fear mongering. I feel for the people trapped in abusive households.
@joeldalton stay critical and ask uncomfortable questions. we need minds like yours now.
@genericname85 Damn, I got my info from Germans, not Google. That doesn't have much to do with the fact that it is double the "safe" limit, though. Nevertheless, Estonia and the Baltics in general are 100% being hit by the second wave. Life was entirely normal for a little while prior to this.
@Marilynjuana meanwhile Sweden has achieved herd immunity and kept their country open the entire time.
@joeldalton I can't say much about the first paragraph because I have not heard stories like that, then again our media etc is rather biased. Very biased. But the "number that someone came up with" can't truly be disregarded like this. It has a place.
@Marilynjuana i sent you a PM :) i don't wanna blow up this comment section too much
@joeldalton Regarding Sweden - there have now been reports of people getting infected a second time, after already going through the virus. So I don't know what to think about that.
@Marilynjuana if this is truly the case that people can get covid-19 more than once, then there's no point to any of these lockdowns. Because a vaccine won't help, and the virus will never go away. So might as well just open everything up and take our chances.
@joeldalton Coming from a country where restrictions and quarantine rules were taken seriously and respected, with no protests or riots, life went 100% back to normal for a few months. For a while there were 0 cases, till something was proven to have been brought in from the UK. I am no doctor, scientist or anything, I am speaking from experience and from the research I have done alone. I think the Sweden point is a bit iffy because reoccurring cases have been confirmed. That's all.
@Marilynjuana This isn't a quarantine. That's the problem. Quarantine is for sick people. They are locking you in your homes (possibly) against your will.
@joeldalton And it worked.
@Marilynjuana You just said more cases came in from the UK, sparking a new round of infections. So they didn't.
@joeldalton That's kind of my point. Borders opened and it was only a matter of time till it came in again.
@Marilynjuana And that's my point. You can't stay locked down forever. At some point you have to 'face the music' as it were. So protect the elderly, protect those who have comorbidities, but for healthy individuals under 50, the chances of dying are essentially 0. So let them live their lives. Let them build up immunity in the population so that those who are vulnerable can start to re-integrate into society.
@joeldalton What if people came together and stayed put for a few weeks? No it won't work if one country does the work and the rest protest in large masses and don't give a damn about restrictions. Reality is that COVID-19 could be withheld and if it's possible to save a life, I'll do it. And I'm sad to see that some people don't see it that way. Yes you can be sorry for them, but you can also prevent it. I've shared my opinion and it won't change, I am sure that neither will yours. Have a nice day!
@Marilynjuana We already did that. I specifically gave you ways to save lives. But you shouldn't ruin the life of one person to save another.
@joeldalton One last thing, where did you do that? Especially in the US? I didn't realise protesting in the thousands is considered social-distancing.
@Marilynjuana BACK in March. Most states went on lockdown. all "non-essential" businesses were closed. It's now September.
@joeldalton From what I remember, your president was openly downplaying the virus, faulty tests were sent out, late Feb/early March action was taken after the first death (s?). It was stated that had America not been so slow with contact tracing, you might have found hot spots sooner and shut them down. After that, almost half of the states were NOT in lockdown. It completely exploded from there and if your solution is to have at it without a care, go ahead. I'm glad I live where I do. I think there isn't much more to discuss, toodles!
@Marilynjuana we are still using the faulty tests by the way. just saying. the PCR tests that were designed by german virologist Dr. Drosten can indicate a dna fragment that is "estimated" to only be present in covid19. it has a false positive rate of 5%. those 5% is roughly as many "infected" as are shown in the statistics.and on top of all that, this test is not even valid for "diagnostic" purposes. it can not even tell if people are infected. it can just find the dna fragment of the virus.if you have some of the virus particles on you, that doesn't mean you have corona. the pcr tests can not show that you are infected.

somehow i'm not surprised. it's one of the biggest events in recent history and every main media outlet either doesn't mention it at all or lies, claiming that it was all violent nazis :/
Not so much about the virus but about interpretation of it's danger and validity of political decisions around it.
I am curious. What decisions were made? We have people in this country who are upset about the lockdowns. Is it the same thing?
to make it short: we blew up an average national flu to a pandemic with bullshit definitions and nonrepresentative numbers. the legislation that resulted from that is pure totalitarianist dictatorship and that's what we are against. we know sars cov2 is a dangerous virus like sars, mers, influenza and the older corona viruses. that sars cov 2 is "more dangerous", was a hypothesis that has turned out to be wrong as many experts that were ignored did predict. the realistic risk of that disease does not warrant the legislation considering: lockdown, compulsory mask-wearing, shutdown of the economy, monetary incentives for hospitals and doctors to "create" more cases by skyrocketing the test volume and willful ignorance and defamation of every critique to the point where people in australia now get arrested for uttering critique on facebook.
*seasonal, not national xD lol
People are being arrested for criticizing the handling of corona virus? That is trylu unbelievable. I can't believe that a western country could get to the point where they could so easily oppress their citizens. The framework is in place for complete control. I have heard rumors about other laws as well where people can be arrested for hate speech? Is that all throughout Europe and Australia too?
yes they are. www.youtube.com/watchthe media frames her as "protest organizer", when all she did was post a critique on facebook. well they were there before. remember swine flu? it was the exact same situation. this isn't "conspiracy theory". this is a straight up conspiracy.the pharma industry had secret contracts with governmental leaders to stay silent untill the vaccine for it was bought it and then after the vaccine was bought and everyone caught up to the fact that very little actually died to swine flu, they swept that deal under the rug in the media.this time around, the definitions for pandemy were changed.the common cold is now a pandemic according to the WHO. just wait. this will turn out to be a huge global scandal. this is currently going on. and it is shocking to be in the middle of it.if you ask me, the WHO has to be terminated. it has harmed us so many times before. swine flu, bird flu, now corona and just remember the wrong food pyramid that caused the American obesity epidemic... when will we finally shut down this institution?
"protest" being against the law... that is straight up totalitarian dictatorship. how does nobody see that?
Arggggh. Don't governments have our best interests in mind anymore? Maybe they never did. Maybe I am just being naïve
dude trust me i've been that naive. and no. the government is right now blatantly lying through their teeth about corona. using media psychology to create fear without factual basis and ignore constitutional laws to control the population...this global level of governmental corrution is unprecedented in history...
