We already are totally Independent on foreign oil thanks to Trump. With his green new deal policy he would make us dependent on foreign oil again. At the Democratic runoff debates he stated he wouldn’t allow it to please environmentalists and liberals. However he’s finding out that policy will cost thousands of jobs in the oil and gas industries. At first it was no fracking at all. Then it was no new fracking. Then it was no new fracking in in designated places. Now at least to Pennsylvanians he’s supporting fracking without restrictions. This is because Pennsylvania is an oil producing state and he needs their votes. Now in some other state he’ll flip flop again
You miss the point. America has always been totally independent of foreign oil, its just that economics dictated that it was cheaper to buy oil from Arab countries, it how America has been able to get oil at like a dollar a barrel and when oil prices starting to rise America dipped into its own vast fossil fuel reserves. Because fossil fuels and valuable minerals are a finate resource its always been US national policy to import the resources of other nations with economies on the rise or that can go nowhere but up and then sell them American manufactured goods. This is why America is in Afghanistan but thats another matter. Franking begun during the Obama administration rather than Trump but I doubt either had much to do with it. America started fracking over friction with Russia over Russia flexing its muscles in the Ukraine and Georgia. The goal being to undermine the Russian oil/gas economy by lowering the price of oil/gas globally which also had the knock on effect making the Saudis more compliant with US policy and to commit the Saudi military to fighting "terrorism" and invading Yemen for the US. The Syria plan of building an oil/gas pipeline through Syria to Europe via Turkey failed as Assad refused to go against Syria's historic ally Russia and the US attempt at arranging regime change backfired as Russia came to Assad's defence to prevent the oil/gas pipeline. Not sure if the creation of ISIS by US forces arming, funding and training Syrian rebels and IRISH invading Iraq was an unexpected blunder by the US or a deliberate ploy to put the uppity Iraqi government make in its place as they were demanding the US and wereleave Iraq completly at the time...
... and were selling their oil at a profit to China instead of the US but that might have been intentional. Iran too was brought into line with Iran holding the largest oil/gas reserves in the world currently and the US wants control of this.Anyway I guess my point is that Trump like Obama and maybe Biden has no real say on the matter as to whether or not America fracks and this franking policy was likely a plan conceived as far back as the Clinton or Bush presidencies. When governments make policies in regards to national interests like energy or defense they are generally carried out over 20-30 years no matter who sits in the white House.Your right about biden, he's just politicking promising one thing but switching to suit whatever gets votes.

Tough. He said at first he was totally against it and wouldn’t allow it then he changed to no new fracking then he changed to fracking being allowed but only in certain places and now it’s unlimited. Why because he’s slipping in the polls and he’s gotten the message that not allowing it will once again make us dependent on foreign oil and it would cost thousands of jobs in the oil and gas industry. Pennsylvania which was where he made his latest flip flop is very dependent on the oil and gas industry and he must have their votes. However he will flip flop again when he goes to a different state unless he goes hiding in his basement that is
