The fact is that the parties evolved because the notion that officials would be independent of the cultural and philosophical context in which they were elected was problematic. Society is characterized by its cultural and philosophical suppositions, which are in turn developed and informed by their past history and current interests.Consequently, the notion that elected officials would address issues sans a philosophical prism is absurd on its face. Parties then facilitate the cooperation of individuals who share common interests and philosophical beliefs in the context of a national legislature.Put more simply, they turn what would be an incoherent babble into something to which political and policy effect can be given. Absent their presence, legislatures would be all but unusable and thus democracies all but ungovernable. This of course does not mean that parties function perfectly. Indeed, in times of great cultural transition they tend to amplify the tensions that follow from such transitions. It is why, for example, the GOP was once the party of protectionism, then of free trade, and may again be moving toward protectionism.Overall though, while the populist mood is to dispense with parties, that is mere fantasy. In the actual world of real policies, parties are a vital tool.
I'm just over it all I feel I'm apolitical not in the sense that I'm indifferent but in the sense that both sides suck and I just wanna be left alone
Then don't pay attention if it does not suit you. However, your feelings should hardly be the basis for overturning complex and sophisticated social systems that work well enough - if not perfectly.Always good to look up at the sky and recall - It is not orbiting around me and my feelings.
Hard not to pay attention when you got people trying to shove politics into literally everything
Well, you just have to learn to live with the fact that you live in a world with other people in it who have other priorities. For what it is worth, I have worked in politics almost all my life - and guess what? When I want to get away from politics I come home, kiss my girlfriend, play "tickle monster" with our kids and watch a movie. You'd be surprised what you can accomplish when you diversify your interests and try to build a life for yourself. Trust me. You can do it. Happiness is a talent, not an emotion.
So by less conservative you mean. More handouts, centralized government and no religion. All the shoehorning of politics in all forms of media and lowkey praising of chinas governmental policy pre pandemic and you want MORE of that?
I don't quite understand what you're saying but I do mean the American parties are more conservative that the Canadian Conservative party.
Let me just ask you this, should conservative ideas even exist or should we go full "let the past die, kill it if you have to"
They should to a degree. People should be allowed to believe and act how they want for themselves, as long as it doesn't affect others lives. If somebody wants to get an abortion let them. Is somebody doesn't want to get one let them not get one. If somebody wants to go to church let them, is somebody doesn't want to don't make them. Etc.
So basically as long as they aren't hurting anyone else, people should be allowed to think what they want, do what they want and consume whatever substance they like right? Basically live and let live yes?
Ok good now explain this to me, why is it from Hollywood to Twitter to AAA games and American media in general, the so called progressives seem to want to do the exact opposite of all that? Huh? Soneone find a Sherlock Holmes style deerstalker and explain this to me!

lol Eliminating political parties who violate the 1st Amendment protections of speech and assembly.
YAY one party government just like china
No, fuckstick. Trumpism isn't Republican. It's some superstitious, twisted conspiracy bullshit that hijacked that party. They need to disavow Trumpy assholes ASAP. Then those loons can splinter off and form their very own party, The Stupid Party.
