I would say JFK. He was killed for exposing a plan that ended up happening sep 11 2001 that was supossed to happen in 1968 and it was to blame Cuba

Im only going back as 50 some years.

We have never really had a good president. In fact, I consider the phrase "good president" an oxymoron. However, the last president we had that passed the BARE MINIMUM to like... not deserve to be publicly hung was Calvin Coolidge.

I dont feel we can include Clinton up until today because a lot of their decisions are still at play and we are yet to see how their decisions fully play out. So excluding Clinton all the way to present day.

I would say Reagan. However ill add the caveat that just because a president was good in his time doesn't mean we can just extract his policies and expect them to do well in the modern day.

Lincoln is by and large considered one of the best presidents of America ever. But during the Civil War he was forces to make political decisions that during the Civil War made sense but today would be seen as completely un American.

For example, the suspension of Habeas Corpus, which meant he could prosecute War criminals with little to know probable cause or due process. It was *(kinda)* necessary in a war in order to quickly put rebels in prison or execute them. But seeing as today there isn't open war in the streets it would be very foolish to make it so that people could be convicted of crimes without a proper court case.

Maybe Johnson? He had a lot of faults, but he did push through the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act, started Medicare, and set NASA up to put Apollo 11 on the Moon.

wouldn't have put people on the Moon in 1969 if it weren't for him.

4. Johnson and other prominent Democrats were the primary drivers of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 - not Republicans. Also, significantly more Democrats voted for its passage than Republicans did, although that's skewed because there were a lot more Dems in both houses of Congress at the time. The Dem vote was heavily influenced by the Southern Democrats (Dixiecrats), who are now the same people who go around talking about how welfare creates fatherless homes. i wouldn't go around thinking that's a feather in your cap, if you're a modern Republican.
