Do you think slavery still exists for African-Americans?

- You can’t really call it slavery but there is no doubt that politicians have trapped the black community in a welfare/poverty cycle. They intentionally disrupted the black nuclear family and removed black fathers from the home with the GREAT SOCIETY ACT!
Before the great society as act single motherhood was 23% in the black community, after the great society act it spiked to 75%!!! That’s astronomical!!!
when you remove the father from the home children are:
15x more likely to drop out of school.
10x more likely to have a child out of wedlock.
5x more likely to go to jail.
All of these things lead to poverty!! The government has used welfare to destroy the black family, remove fathers from the home and secure the entire vote of the black community.
Black People vote in a 90% block for democrats without realizing that their policies are exactly what’s keeping them trapped in poverty.0|00|0Is this still revelant?well, some people claim that it was with good intentions. That they just wanted To help the black community and so they started making welfare more and more available to them... but then it had all these unintended side effects.
And while it’s certainly possible that, that is true. I personally believe it was to keep the black community dependent upon them! politicians give black people just enough to survive and to keep them voting for them... but never actually do anything to help them achieve independence! They never do anything that will get people out of the welfare/poverty cycle! They keep them trapped in that lifestyle generation after generation.
Regardless of original intent... the welfare/poverty cycle has millions of Americans trapped in it and we can’t just keep doing the same thing and expect to get a different result. We have to change our approach and help people achieve their own success and independence.- Show All Show Less
Well that’s a great question. I’ll give you my thoughts but if you truly want some good advice. “Larry elder and Thomas sowell” are two black authors that have great ideas about how to help the black community. “They also have YouTube videos”.
But, there are three things that you can do... that almost guarantee that you will be in the middle class.
1. Do not have children out of wedlock.
2. Graduate high school.
3. Get a full time job.
that sound silly but all the data backs it up. If you do those 3 things, it’s basically a guarantee that you will be in the middle class.
One of best ways to achieve this, is to get the father back into the home!!! two parent homes are MASSIVELY important for children and young people.
The government has got to stop incentivizing single motherhood through welfare. It also needs to stop sending people to prison for victimless crimes. Thanks, I agreed. Those are great ideas that will help the Black community. I believed that single mothers are being greedy and just want guys to impregnate them for money.

- Of course, this depends on the definition of slavery. But there is an argument to be made to support his position. In the '80s, a tough-on-crime national policy was used to vastly increase the number of Blacks in prison by racial laws and sentencing. For example, if a White person was caught with an ounce (28 grams) of cocaine, he would be fined. A Black person with a gram of crack cocaine would get 10 years in prison. I don't know if it's still true but in the Red States, Black men were twice as likely to be sentenced to prison as White men for the same crimes. Once they packed the prisons with Blacks but not Whites, they privatized the prisons in conservative states giving corporations freedom to abuse prisoners and wide license to sell their forced labor. Some of these "slaves" were White, but the system is essential racial. And I consider this a form of slavery.0|00|0Is this still revelant?

114- Anonymous2 moEh... That's one way to interpret it. Primarily black communities usually get less government funding, so schools in those areas aren't able to provide adequate education. Black people are statistically less likely to be hired or promoted when it comes to jobs, so they are usually paid less. Land is usually not owned by black people. Businesses are usually not owned by black people. The government has very few black people in it. The African-American community is kept at a disadvantage and somewhat controlled. "Wage slaves" are I guess what you'd call it. Kept poor and dependent, living paycheck to paycheck so they are easier to control and marginalize.0|00|0
- Almost everyone in the USA are slaves. There is nothing you can do that is not regulated. Slaves have always been allowed to keep enough of what the make to eat and survive. What Americans earn are not theirs as the the government takes half of it and can take more if they choose. Slaves have always been allowed to have and usually raise the children but they don't own them. In the USA, people are allowed to have children but they belong to the state and the stated can take them for most any reason and the state demands they attend indoctrination centers for 12 years.0|00|0
- If you read the full 13th ammendment it has a special loophole where slavery is still technically legal if it is being used as punishment for a crime...
... or in other words... prison.
Adds a whole new layer to the whole systemic racism topic.
I love America but there are several places where I think we can raise the bar and demand higher standards.0|10|0 - No.
There may be some aspects to it, when forced into underpaid horrible jobs, you only do because a bad job is better than no job.
But comparing it to slavery is unjustified.0|00|0 - Not in 2020 if there are that likely a human trafficking organization which should be found and the organization leaders prosecuted0|00|0
- Black people trap themselves because theyre being to group oriented or tribe minded. "black people gotta stick together" "we dont do that were black" etc. Just identity politics for the most part.0|00|0
- This could be considered true, yes. But it's not just blacks enslaved anymore, it's anyone working for transnational corporations0|00|0
- Anonymous2 moSlavery never existed among them. Their status was no different from the peasants of Iran, Central Asia, or Russia. In fact, their living standards were far higher than what they had. They also had more freedom of movement.0|00|0
- Anonymous2 moThe only people who are slaves, are the people who WANT to be slaves0|00|0
