Florida has a huge Hispanic population and Hispanics hate Biden but love Bernie during the primary

Also, Bernie wants to raise the minimum wage to 15 dollars per hour and Florida voted yes to make their minimum wage to 15 dollars per hour this past election

Remember Bernie is a populist while Biden is an establishment hack

Also, Biden lost Florida by a lot!!!

That is definitely a possiblility. All I know for sure, is for the second time in a row we don't get to find out because of the rigged democrat primaries! Between the corrupt "Super Delegates" and Biden paying off everyone who wasn't Sanders with a future cabinet appointment (or VP pick!) the candidate who rightfully won the nomination didn't get nominated. The democratic primary is surprisingly UNDEMOCRATIC!

Senator Sander would lose Florida on two counts.

1) The elderly are, by far, the group MOST opposed to "Medicare for all." They see it as a threat to their own benefits and that is a large part of the reason why even Mr. Obama could only get a very limited form of Obamacare - absent even the "public option" - through a Democrat Congress.

2) Not sure where you got the read on Hispanics, but particularly among Cuba-Americans, Senator Sander's faux socialism - it is really a variant of populism - is wildly unpopular. Throw in the more recent immigrants from Nicaragua and Venezuela and you don't exactly have the "Bernie Sanders Fan Club."

As indeed this most recent election demonstrated in relation to the much more emollient and paper trained former VP Biden. In that connection, you cited the primary election results earlier in the year.

The problem with that is that it is a skewed sample. It is ONLY Democrats - no Republicans or independents, certainly no conservatives and only a portion of moderates. So while that might be an adequate measure of the view of Hispanics who are most active in the Democratic party - enough for them to come out to vote - it is NOT an adequate picture of the whole demographic.

Bottom line, Senator Sanders will have to go shopping for presidential votes somewhere else. Right off the top he loses, just by being who he is, two of the most important constituencies in the state of Florida. That is not a good way to start.

Again, the primary electorate is too narrow and skewed a sample. Your question was Sanders vs. Trump and there the wider Hispanic electorate is in play. There, Sanders would not do very well.

If you give Hispanic Democrats a choice between a Democrat and a Democrat, they will pick the Democrat every time. If you widen that out to the broader electorate, it becomes a dicier prospect.
Indeed, even in this election Mr. Trump did better among Hispanics than expected - this against the, as I have said, paper trained Mr. Biden. By that measure, it does not suggest that the Hispanic electorate overall is fertile ground for the likes of Senator Sanders in a presidential election.

To be sure, it is something of a question as against who Sanders is being judged. It is also likely that, depending on the choices, Hispanic voters would simply stay home rather that explicitly vote against Sanders.

Still again, though, based on the overall data including the most recent presidential election - see also Mr. Obama's recent unpleasantness toward Hispanics - they are not the most promising field for Senator Sanders to search if he wishes to find his way to the WH.

You are misreading the Hispanic vote. It tends to be somewhat staunch on foreign policy questions and has a strong streak of social traditionalism, particularly given the heavy influence of the Roman Catholic Church (and to a lesser extent some evangelical churches.) While they tend to support what might be called the New Deal consensus, they tend to be more wary of more liberal views. Indeed, there is even some significant divides in the Hispanic community on the question of immigration.

Put it all together and it is not for nothing that the core of Senator Sander's base is young, well to do college educated whites. That is a long way away from the Hispanic vote.

In some Bernie devotee’s wildest fantasies, sure. But Bernie lost the Florida primary to Biden and polling before the primary showed Florida Hispanic/Latino likely voters preferred Biden to Bernie by over 20 points. And Republicans portrayed Democrats as socialists and communists, which helped sway a large portion of Florida Hispanics towards Trump- if they thought Joe Biden was too socialist they definitely wouldn’t go for Bernie Sanders.

Hispanics aren’t a monolith. What appeals to some won’t work with others. Florida Hispanics are more conservative than those in other states and their backgrounds are different. Refugees from communist and socialist regimes and their descendants make up a larger share of Hispanics in Florida than other states. Nevada Hispanics are mostly of Mexican origin and they don’t have the same concerns about socialism as someone in Florida whose family had to flee from Cuba or Venezuela.

Nah I live in Florida and Bernie was an avid candidate for all the college students and younger people but there’s a lot more older people in the south that voted for Trump and or Biden. So no Bernie would not have won Florida.

The largest seven counties of Florida already have been won by Biden. (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, Orange, Pinellas, Duval) . Trump in general has won smaller counties. Miami-Dade County has over 65% Hispanic population but Biden’s won there by far (53%) so I wouldn’t say “Hispanics hate Biden” . But if Bernie was the Democrat candidate instead of Biden. I don’t think anything’d change thats bc I feel like Florida is less Republican than other Southern states.

Bernie is a social Democrat, he’s not a populist. How he carries himself has some populist aspects, but that doesn’t make him a populist. Trump is a populist, as an example.
