How would communism actually function?

- Coming from a communist country, I can tell you communist will take over and kill all other parties until they get complete control.
The meaning of communism is government completely control of everything. Western people these days spread an illusion tgat countries like china or vietnam is under communist control but going under capitalism, that's straight up stupid! You can research history since communist take over how many citizens of that country actually died.
Communism didn't work so those countries losen up their control, going back to socialism in a sense.
It's funny how this kind of topic is open on this page and shit like china does control covid, you can find china in focus youtube channel to see how many people actually die since December, when chinese government announced there was 2k cases it's actually 90k.
In 1975, when communist took over southern vietnam, firstly they took over all the banks and money, my grandma couldn't get a single penny out to make a funeral for my grandpa. All southerners working for the old government are either killed or sent to reeducation camps, where most died there. They took over guns and land ownership, everything belongs to the people but under government control. They changed the currency system 3 times people just jump of buildings with all the savings from the last money system. In the morning you have to wake up at 4 am to receive food. They would suddenly barge into people's house, saying those house have wealth, that means they are capitalists, and even a radio will be taken away under the name of the people.
Then all the men will be sent to cambodia and lao for the war. It got to the point no one candle anymore they ran to other countries by land or ships, some died in Cambodia, Lao, some kids these days were born on ships in malaysia shore or refugee camps in hong kong. The United Nations involved and try to solve the situation by having each countries receive a certain amount of refugees. My mom was able to contact her used to be fiancee after 10 years since he try to left in the 80s, he is now residing in Texas, but his family used to be French citizens and even France doesn't help them. My family lost in total 4 people to the wars since 75. My current aunt used to see people eating cockroaches on the street and die out of hunger. Not to mention none of southern kids including my parents were able to go to college back then.
By the judge of your replies to the comment you're spreading propaganda, and there are many people here making fun comments as well. When it related to the holocaust, nbd jokes about it, and somehow the world is joking about communism like it's funny. I just don't understand how that much blood and death is funny to you people.3|151|0Is this still revelant?Don't you think communism is a dead idea, only china is Communist but soon it will also disintegrate like USSR. I am from India and Communist party of India is the most idiotic and stupid party they support those people or countries which are actually against India like Pakistan and china but I think communism will soon die after china disintegrate.
@r_sha communism left by itself will die within less than 5 years, they basically don't have enough money (my family lived through that short period), but it's the western countries who invested into communist countries that kept it alive, not to mention if you learn history, it's western countries that funded ussr and red china to gain control and take power. I recommend you read antony sutton's books about how the ussr was funded. Even in some videos of china uncensored, there are people acknowledged American companies like standard oil funded the ussr, which indirectly funded north vietnam and north korea while American soldiers were dying in the battlefield.
There are many real history that only survivors know, and they are dying down with old age, and we don't dare to talk about it, because communists have their own internet/real life army, they'll start attacking you, exposing your personal life, and make life so miserable that you don't dare to talk about it anymore, and the world moves on with kids these days dreaming of having free stuff without working for it, dreaming of increasing tax for others but not for themselves.
Let's make it simple, you wouldn't give your money to a stranger, why would you give your life, your rights, your means of self defense, your property to a stranger, or a group of strangers, and ask them to give you back ten times more for a life time? It's so simple on the street you wouldn't, but these kids who admire communism would give it to the government, which is basically a group of strangers you have no way of controlling them, or having them guaranteed they will give you back half of your original property. They just like the idea of taking stuff from people who have more than them, they don't realize when an omnipotent government takes, they will take everything from everyone.
@r_sha Did you know north korea export their labours overseas for working? After an amount of time the people will be sent back to north korea but the money is sent to the government. I even visited the country for myself, i signed up for the medium price chinese tour, not the fancy ones they showed westerners. I see kids working in construction sites, old men and women farming with their bare hands with barely any tools, and the whole city went dark at 7. It's like a ghost town, it was built for tourists, not for living people.
It's sad to me that with Chinese growth started slowing down, western countries started investing in new communist countries like Pakistan and Vietnam, it will be like when China took over USSR's place. My family wishes that the world would sanction communism completely and let us people decide for ourselves, you will see how fast things change. Other than that, communism will never die, even after china, vietnam, north korea, pakistan, western countries always find a new place to invest.
I heard that India has a communist party, some other southeast Asian countries had silently killed all communist party's members, they don't want to take the risks. You guys are taking a big risk letting them stay alive.

@r_sha yeah, not many knows about hong kong refugee camps for the vietnamese, or how the very last gold reserves of south vietnam was taken by American government before they withdraw (my teacher's dad was one of the soldier who transfer gold). We actually know america was going to retreat in the early 1970, before the actual announcement. But my family didn't believe it, so some of us stayed, which was the worst decision ever. Back then we thought we were just reuniting with our people, but communist are just devils, they are not human. Media doesn't want to cover any of this, leading to kids these days dreaming of bringing communism to their country but they don't dare to move to communist countries to live. :))
@jennyfoxworth 5.56 does a real good job of handling vegan communists. Their days are numbered, were gonna have another 9/11 soon, despite us running out of Jihad's.
But there are really people here who actually just stubborn and don't accept history, fantasize and advocate the idea of communism. It is people like them that hurts people like me, normal working class.
My dad reached junior high during the last years of south vietnam. He remembers students (esp high school seniors and uni students) advocating for communism, for free life, for social welfare. Those "freedom fighters" ended up dead or killed themselves after the system failed completely in just the first few months. Where were they when people like my dad got no food to eat?Fantasizing about communism is fantasizing about a government killing for you, stealing for you, in the end you aren't even the one benefited. It maybe free speech for you, but study about the topic before actually be stubborn and spreads such deadly ideas for others. When you fight for the rise of communism, admit that you're fighting for yourselves, not for other, not for working class, not for students who look forward to a happy future studying at college, not for female like me who is willing to work extra and pay less. You're not even stealing for your children, just your own. I hope those communism advocates live a long life, have a lot of children, move to communist country like North Korea (from what I see they are the only one staying true communism nowadays), and I hope all your children get to experience full communism at its best like you have always dreamt of.
Here I haven't even mentioned about Tibet, where China took over and killed all monks who just want to keep their religion, media is all about Muslims and Uighyurs. I get to know my current Tibetan friends from volunteering, many of them cross the indian tibetan borders on their foot, still holding refugee papers instead of changing into indian passport, because they want to hold on to their last identity as a tibetan. One of them was in a group of 5 walking for months without even knowing the way, just keepon going the opposite direction to the chinese soldiers. His shoes worn out so he used whatever he could find to wrap his feet to keep on walking. Many accidents happened on the way and he was the only one left reaching the borders, with his face full of scars from falling here and there climbing mountains and his feet completely ruined from the trip. Communism is good? Why does a monk willing to have half his body ruined trying to runaway from it?

- Communism would function about like it did. Indeed, there is something perverse about a system that dubs itself "scientific," is then tested in multiple placed and times as different as backward North Korea and industrialized East Germany and gets essentially the same result, whose advocates then ask "how would it actually work?". The scientific method seeming to have revealed the answer repeatedly.
Where to begin?
Socialism was a romantic reaction to the Enlightenment. To wit, the idea of the Enlightenment was that man was a spontaneously rational and social being. That he had rights, rooted in nature.
However, man has been corrupted by institutions that evolved over history but that were not inherently rational and therefore not consistent with his natural rights.
The idea behind the Enlightenment then was that man must be stripped of the illogical and irrational/pre-rational sources of his identity - i. e. religion, ethnicity, tribe, etc. - and law made in conformity with his natural rights. When law and natural rights are consistent, man will live in harmonious relationship with his fellows.
The problem. of course, was that man gets his sense of identity from religion, family, tribe, nationality, etc. When stripped of these - as the British statesman and political philosopher Edmund Burke put it - man is "reduced to his naked shivering nature."
Into this stepped Marx. In brief summation, he combined man's need for a sense of identity with a "scientific theory." He discerned a dialectic in History - with a capital "H" - in which economics and class was the source of man's true identity and that the clash of owning and working classes would result over time in a stateless utopia where man lived in fulfillment of his nature.
This, of course, was not scientific at all. It greatly oversimplified man's nature and, in practice - and this is skipping over a LOT of important detail - conduced to the concentration of power in an elite whose job, in Marxist theory, was to guide the workers toward that classless utopia that - allegedly - History was moving toward anyhow.
Pursuant to this, as a matter of economic policy, the government would own the means of production, private property would be abolished, and the economy - all levels of production, consumption, etc, - would be centrally planned. Suffice to say, such concentrations of power and planning with no intermediary institutions between the government and society conduced to brutal tyranny.
(Just as an aside, some of my family lived in East Germany. When my father went back to visit his relatives. One night they were sitting on the porch singing songs and talking and he noticed that his niece was walking the perimeter of the yard. He asked his uncle why she was doing that. His uncle replied, "To make sure that we can't be heard, because if we are and someone hears something they don't like, they will call the Stassi and we will all be arrested." Such is life under Communism. No right to say anything and even your neighbors might be spies.)
Indeed, even as a narrow economic theory Communism was absurd. As indeed the empty store shelves of the Soviet heyday and Venezuela's recent diaper shortage all suggest. With no incentives to produce, there is no production - and what is produced is so with no relationship to the demand for it.
CONT.0|21|0Is this still revelant? At any rate, at the end of the day, the question answers itself. The theory has been discredited - except perhaps among young college students who cannot tear themselves away from their (capitalist produced) I-phones long enough to read a book as well as those for whom dogma spares them the exquisite torture of having to think and actually examine the evidence and the historical record.
Suffice to say, a theory that reduces human nature reductio ad absurdum, that then vests absolute powers of social decision making in human beings who are not, at the end of the day, the way the theory says that they are, and then creates an economic system based on warped incentives derived from that flawed reading of human nature is not terribly promising. It is not too surprising that how it worked in fact is how it actually functioned.
- After seeing your responses to previous comments, it's obvious you are in denial. I used to be more left wing and I used to think "Hey, everyone gets free money, a share of the wealth, etc, etc.". Luckily I have seen with the truth with my own eyes. Think about this: in a socialist/communist economy, people who are in power stay in power, people are born into whatever class they are and there's no way to rise up the chain, government can do whatever they want, etc, etc.https://www.youtube.com/embed/IQPsKvG6WMIKarl Marx was a racist, an anti-semite, and hitler was his dream come true (except the part when people overwhelmed him and the Nazi party fell). Karl Marx said that slavery was not only good, but was necessary for America to survive as a positive example of communism and that without the virtue of slavery, America would surely fall. You call anyone who disagrees with you a biggot or brainwashed by capitalist propoganda, yet you follow a biggoted idealogy without any form of opposition, you buy into propoganda from communists without any doubt, you reduce constructive critisism by calling someone names, and you refuse to acknowledge any evidence that strays from your misguided views. If China and North Korea are so great, why haven't you moved there? Have you even seen what happens to anyone who protests in China or North Korea? Immagine a system of government where oppression can't be fought against. Immagine everybody being forced to worship government as God (that's literally what Karl Marx advocated in his book "The Jewish Question"). Think for yourself. I've done research, if you did any, you'd find that communism is a system of government meant to seize power by oppressing people and forcing them to bow down to the powers in government.https://www.youtube.com/embed/dgmZR-F1XIUhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/rAUldPbAC6ohttps://www.youtube.com/embed/iakx9RALxvEhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/inSNWiQcUHE0|21|0Is this still revelant?

- Anonymous1 moIn a communist society the wealth produced would be owned and shared equitably, and as there is over-abundance produced, everyone can have all they want in living conditions and freedom- up to the point where it would limit others having the same, including the safety of the environment.
This hasn’t happened yet, as either most of the wealth has been in private hands (capitalism) or/and hasn’t been under democratic control (dictatorships). Or both.
As communism is democratic, it is formed by the people who are part of it at the time, so we can’t really guess the format - people will choose whichever method of decision-making suits them at the time - I guess different for local, regional and global issues.
What is sure is,
that working hours and conditions of work will be for the convenience of the workers, education will be available life-long, so people have a chance to find what they are good at and enjoy doing.
Status can be won by social contribution and not by amount of wealth in a bank - as money and the state’s enforcing role will become obsolete.
I don't agree with the user that said that history has shown us it wouldn't function well. They've actually been brainwashed by capitalist media to think that.
Cuba actually did pretty well, in response to the exploitation of the average plantation worker, unjust police arrests and executions by Batista's US puppet government; seized control with a much smaller force and survived an international embargo of 40+ years. They now have one of the leading medical programs in the world.
As of now, these are simply socialist experiments and haven't completed the transition to communism.
These are ignoring the societies pre-capital that had communism not as we know it now but as they lived it.2|70|5Is this still revelant?- Opinion Owner1 mo
Thanks for the downvote OP.
What's the point of asking a question online, if you can't handle opinions you don't like? "In a communist society the wealth produced would be owned and shared equitably"
So what would be stopping someone from not producing wealth if they were guaranteed a share of everything.
"and as there is over-abundance produced"
Implies that resources are infinite, which they are not.
"everyone can have all they want in living conditions and freedom"
How would you distribute equal living space to everyone? Wouldn't that mean a single-story house for all? Wouldn't you have to demolish all cities because it would not be fair for someone to live in a small appartment on the 9th floor while someone else lived in a bigger one, if not a house, on the ground floor?
"up to the point where it would limit others having the same"
How would you deliver all products to everyone? Some products can't really even be shipped across the world without spoiling. That or some people would have fresh produce because they live near where it's grown/harvested - that would be unfair, no?
"including the safety of the environment."
Coming back to housing - you'd still have to harm the environment to sustain a society anyway.
"As communism is democratic, it is formed by the people who are part of it at the time"
Formed by people who are part of it? In what way? Would everyone have to be in the government? How would people go about their daily lives and work, if they also had to take part in political discussion (which takes up all day)?"so we can’t really guess the format"
So then why are people peddling something that they don't even know how it would function?
"people will choose whichever method of decision-making suits them at the time"
That will still end up with a select few having power over others, which will bring in corruption anyway so we're no better off than under capitalism, except now yo do't even own anything.
"that working hours and conditions of work will be for the convenience of the workers"
Work is not convenient - that's the whole point? A convenient work hour is zero. How do you arrive at convenient? There will always be people who will want to drag the total number down and down.
"education will be available life-long"
How will teachers be paid? What if they also ask for short work hours? In that case, nothing of note would really ever be taught.
"so people have a chance to find what they are good at and enjoy doing."
Wouldn't that end up with no one taking the menial jobs no one wants, like trash collecting and sewer cleaning?
"Status can be won by social contribution"
Wouldn't status imply privilege? What would status give?- Show All Show Less
"as money and the state’s enforcing role will become obsolete."
So again, how do you have people work if they do not get anything in return? If you say that everyone would be provided with the basic necessities to survive, then nothing would motivate people to take really hard jobs, since they'd be guaranteed the necessities. And if there is no state, who enforces law and order? Who organises things between different communities? Who provides the jobs? Who votes on standards? Who would certify teachers and medics? And again - why would people work as either?
"They've actually been brainwashed by capitalist media to think that."
I'm from an ex-Soviet country. From everyone who grew up in the Soviet era, I know no one who had nothing negative to say about it.
"unjust police arrests and executions"
lol implying they still don't do that to anyone who disagrees with the current systemI didn't downvote you though.

864- 1. People connected to the most politically powerful become part of a special class of people who get special ID. This ID gives them access to walled cities with 5 star restaurants, resort style living quarters, amusement parks and every thing common people aren't allowed to buy because as a special person you need to be able to study the forbidden stuff to really understand why it's bad, you know. Only special people get to vote in elections.
2. Everybody becomes a spy. If you snitch on your neighbor you get rewards. There's an electronic system that lets you send reports in on anybody you want, any time. If 2+ people think you're a traitor you get arrested, no evidence needed.
2b. In China they have something called "education through work" or some such. Any cop can have you arrested without evidence and sent to a re-education labor camps for years. The cop determines the sentence. Yes, if a cop doesn't like you you're toast. Doesn't matter why.
2c. The governor of a state is like a King. He can have you arrested for any reason and sent to prison for life. Don't forget to bribe him or you'll be in for a surprise. Obviously his family/kids are above the law. If his son rapes your daughter you can forget about involving the law. This happens in some non commie countries also tho.
3. Someone decides what the standard of living is in each region. If your home is above that standard you get kicked out and it gets boarded up. You need to go live in a lower level place. I suppose that you would make sure that your super important industries like military weapons would coincidentally be in regions where you can give the people working on it nicer things so they have more incentive than the common person.
4. Some kind of resources need to be sold/traded to outside countries so you can bring in things that you need from the outside.
5. Ban on people saving more than a certain amount of money.
6. Huge limits on what people can buy to keep one person from having too much more than his neighbor.0|10|0 - Huh, strange. I was just pondering on asking the question; How is it possible that there are still genuine communists in the world.
Every single time communism has been attempted and implemented the result has been the same. Stalinism, Leninism, Maoism, Trotskyism, doesn't matter which branch, dictatorship, mass murder, inflation, bankruptcy, a derelict countryside to feed the industrious, monstrous capital, starvation, war and corruption.
And no, I do not agree that it's "a good idea in its foundation". Forced equality is not the same as justice. Equal opportunity, not equal outcome is justice. Does capitalism always offer the same opportunities? I'd say so yes. Not everyone starts from the same place, and many have it harder than others in climbing, but the opportunity is still there and open for all who work for it. One of the great causes for communist economy's failure is planned economy, as with Soviet's "five year plan", in producing only a specific and determined produce or ware. It completely clashes with the logic of supply and demand. And the results were predictable.
Capitalism isn't flawless, it has dark sides, but it is by far the best option we have, it has raised a third of the world out of abject poverty. And unlike communism, capitalism actually functions and sustains a nation. It has a superior track record empirically speaking.
And all those ignoramuses in the west who thrive in a capitalist society whilst whining for communism, they have no idea whatsoever what that disgusting ideology entails. It just irks me something fierce when people who haven't the slightest notion of what it is like to live under communism treats it like the liberation of mankind and all they have is leftist theory spouting its nonhistorical nonsense in western academia.0|11|0 - Well it very much depends on the form it takes, the spectrum of possibility is vast and the devil is in the detail.
The only thing you can really know about a system from the word 'communist' is that land and material wealth is shared, you dont know anything else.
Communism has worked very sucessfully many times in various places around the world but it has generally worked best to lift people out of very difficult times of hardship and shortage etc.
The main problem with communism is that the strong are enslaved by the weak and often it comes with centralised planning / a command economy and while economy of scale is a powerful and extremely worthwhile reality to harness the fact remains that one size does not fit all and no one is better equipped to make choices for a person than the person themselves.
I would suggest that if you are not going to explore anarchism the best 'system' would be one which harnesses the best aspects of capitalism and communism, leveraging their strengths and offsetting their weakness but sadly the world is yet to see anything even remotely close so far, its always the rich and the masses in a tug of war each trying to have things only their way and everyone loses because the vast majority of people are incapable or unwilling to do what is in the interests of the big picture, they just want what they think is good for them.0|00|0 - Exactly as it did in USSR, China and Cambodia.
First, the ruling party/leader will start abusing communism's weaknesses to achieve total dictatorship.
Next step, anyone who opposes the system will literally be eaten alive by the system. Hence, most of the nation will turn into slaves to that one ruling body.
With USSR, people opposed the system, and that's why Gulags existed. 20 millions were killed, and the torture methods were disgusting. Stalin knew how fragile and malleable communism was and knew how to abuse it. Lenin was no different.
You can read about Red Khmer in Cambodia as well and Mao Zedong in China and how these two brought great distress upon Cambodia and China. Under Zedong, nearly 78 million people were killed.
Practically, communism is a fairy tale that is full of contradictions. Being very easy to abuse and manipulate led to the death of nearly 100 million people.
However... the communist movement is on the rise again.. because some entities are funding its growth and they target the younger unexperienced generations to brainwash them into believing that communism will solve all the world's problems. Once communism is back, history will repeat itself.0|00|0@ThisDudeHere I really hope your eyes will be opened soon. I have nothing more to say. @ThisDudeHere Say that in the face of all of those who were tortured in the Gulags, and all of those who lost their families there. Say that to the victims of the Cambodian genocide, those who saw the murder of their loved ones by the hands of Khmer Rouge. Say that to North Koreans who cannot escape the hell they are living. Say that to the Chinese people living slavery in Chinese factories today who cannot escape or complain! How many millions more have you just discarded?
@ThisDudeHere Hey, trolling is a bad thing :') No need to make a mess to make a point.
- Read history, especially everything by
Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn.
The facts are:
1. You own nothing.
2. You do not get to choose where you go to school, what you study, what work you will do, or where you will live.
3. People are disappeared and tortured to death, or thrown into a gulag and worked to death.
4. Human life, including yours, has zero value.
5. Communism is always maintained by state terror and mass murder. During the past century Communists have murdered: 66 million in Russia (Lenin and Stalin); 50 million in China during the Communist revolution and 84 million between 1949 and the death of Mao in 1976; two million in Cambodia; at least two million in Vietnam; an estimated 300,000 in Cuba; and millions of sundries in Africa and elsewhere.
6. Communism is the only form of government in recorded human history that built fences and walls to prevent the population fleeing Marx's "workers' paradise". Not even the Nazis had to build walls to keep people in.
7. Communism is by a large margin the most evil and despotic system of government devised by a human mind. I find it to be darkly amusing that idiot young Americans have been brainwashed by Communist indoctrinated teachers and lecturers into thinking that Communism, of whatever shade, has any redeeming features. It does not. If it did have good points, Cubans might not try to paddle bathtubs to Florida.0|20|0Perfectly stated. You said everything I would have if I’d bothered to put much effort into my answer.
- Economically, it wouldn’t. If we follow the reasoning by Stiglitz (and he won a Nobel Prize on this matter) because economists are simply incapable of calculating a general equilibrium (i. e. the optimal allocation of resources) due to a simply lack of information, you can never ever make a planned economy work as well as a decentralized (somewhat) economy. Related to that is the reasoning provided by Acemoglu (who is basically guaranteed to win a Nobel Prize on this matter), who say that because a system like communist regimes do not provide the capacity to invest in themselves and beyond however they want, they can never actually achieve high levels of GDP per capita. Also, the USSR actually had to liberalize substantial parts of its economy in the 70s to keep their economic success going.
Beyond that, it inherently requires forceful action to make it work, unless everyone voluntarily subscribes to those ideals (which is questionable at best). Then forceful action quickly becomes dictatorship.0|10|0 - Anonymous1 moCommunism wouldn't function. It slowly or quickly destroys itself if left alone. When everything is owned by the state (government), and everyone gets equal share of things, people lose incentive to work because they'll receive the same to live off of whether they work 24 hours a day or work 10 minutes a day and spend the rest playing video games. When people stop producing, there's less and less for the state to take and distribute. Their only option is to declare "work or die". Then the people with the help of outside nations eventually revolt and force change to something like China's version of communism. Where the state still owns almost everything, but people are allowed to make money based on their work and not based on everyone getting paid exactly the same. You can obtain personal wealth in Communist China, but if you voice opinions that the government doesn't like, they can and do make you disappear with no consequences. It's eerily similar to the Democrat mantra in the USA where they want everyone to "comply or be locked up".0|20|0
- I come from a country which was once part of the Eastern Bloc. A lot of people here miss communism. They had good infrastructure, hopitals, schools, post offices, everything, even deep in the mountains, food was a lot better, things were actually tasty, from what my parents have told me nowadays food is like dirt compared to the one they had. We had a very powerful army and people were a lot more educated because they were forced into education. Every person was trained to survive.
There was no crime and there were no drugs. Woman could actually walk alone in the middle of the night without being scared someone will do something to them, unlike nowadays.
It had it's bad side too but aren't we living in communism disguised as democracy now too? Lol, we are not free, it's just the illusion of being free.
Check Bald and Bankrupt on Youtube, he travels around post communist countries, see what people say in his videos, they are people who lived during that era, their opinion is the one that matters.0|00|0 - ? It wouldn't. The whole premise is built upon the nonsensical idea that human beings are good and could care for one another across notions of race, culture, ethnicity, gender, etc.
That's why you need a Republic that guarantees basic freedoms and rights.0|50|0And that is a lie.
If you are going to be communist, why not just admit to its failings? Every attempt at communist stops at a dictatorship.
Hmmm. . . why is that?
Do citizens have freedoms and rights in China? You mean in old Soviet Union and now. . . present day Russia, you can voice opinions about the government?
Get real man.

lol I'm actually kidding dude :D Read my reply to that anonymous chick. So far, she's the only actual pro-communist that commented here (thankfully, I guess). Good to see that you're of sane-mind too, despite our other differences
Dude, I have never met a single communist. Even overseas, I never knew one. And I was in Russia for a considerable amount of time.
I guess. And probably much fewer than we are lead to believe.
Don't get me wrong. I met folks who like Putin and liked the Soviet Union. But that was because of nationalism. Not because of communism.
Exactly. Though some of them, especially over here in Eastern Europe, have some nostalgic feelings for the USSR. I have to admit - just a few things were a wee bit better during it, like being guaranteed a home and a work-place - even if both sucked.
- it can't function. it makes sense on paper but "on paper" just means without human nature. communists are idealists who think humans can all just share everything and that inequality is only caused by big bad mean people when in reality some people are born better than others. some are smarter, with more drive, more creativity, better looks... they can't be equal.
and worst of all all humans are greedy meaning whoever controls the "equal redistribution" is going to give themselves more. that's why russia is the most unequal country in the world today0|11|0 - You wouldn't have to worry about "function" because it will to shit pretty much right away.
Numbers don't lie pure communism never worked even those hybrid comunist countires are held back by the comunist side.
It's bullshit, something Karl Marx created to unite the workers against harsh working environment but the original idea of communism inplied that there would be no leadership at all. And yet it has only ever brought about dictators and tyrants.
So yeah i think the world would be a much better and friendlier place once the dream of a utopia is over and people realize that they make their own destiny in this world. You want it better go make it better. That's the only realistic version0|20|0 - communism in china was changed many hands from marx engels to Lenins, I think that was just name. especially marx wrote for
illiteracy after Hegel. so I think truth is never understood. if you turn it to illiteracy. you need to be like bible. I watched it GDP communism in china had a jump for a while but close thought make value can not lead social source. then you saw reducing during that time. china change basically call socialism now. communist party is still name. https://www.youtube.com/embed/4-2nqd6-ZXg0|10|0 - Its difficult to say as no true capitalists or true communists have ever existed.
Sure the theory and proposals are well documented, but even the Soviets were not fully communist, and neither are the North Koreans. The Chinese are more capitalist than communist in how they work their business arm.
Every system likes to assert itself as being "a flagship" but the inner working are never transparent.
Communism is very good in theory, but it relies on absolute obedience -which no human can ever possess. Hence it always falls short as corruption and totalitarianism become it's cancer. Too much power in the hands of a few unaccountable.
Capitalism for it's part relies on absolute compliance - again something no human can ever fully do. Which is why tax avoidance and exploitation by the few, is it's cancer. Too much power in the hands of a kingmaker few.0|10|1 - Communism is a last option solution by default. It worked in cuba because of how cruel and evil government before was it makes communism look good. unless your in a starving 3rd world country that is exploited by western companies communism is never answer. Also stalin and mao would be disgusted by the antifa fags that call themselves communist. Im a liberatarian personally but communists are more up for debate are then republicans and democrats are with any party besides republicans and democrat. Besides antifa faggots most communist far easier have inteligent debate with then a liberal or conservative.0|10|0
- At first, communist party will not bring communism as social or economical model to the country, because it's not workable at all.
It's never worked before in any country, and will not in future as well.
How the country will function?
Well, in international communications it will fall under such countries like Russia or China (Depends from location and cultural background).
Inside country, most probably will try take more control over the citizens, but mostly will try to take control of business and economics in general. At will fail.0|00|0 - Communism doesn't work. It never has.
Not because the principles of the philosophy are flawed, but because the "leaders" implementing it are inevitably corrupted by power. Even Castro didn't manage to avoid the trappings of power on an island as small as Cuba.0|10|0 - Problem with communism is distribution of resources is equal. Intangibles, which drive the direction of society, such as authority, mobility, are far less equally distributed, or accessible, than in democracies, even republics, but controlled by the few, which gives them unprecedented power. This is how communism would actually function. An illusion of material equality (jobs, income, etc.), while few have any power to make decisions that guide the society billions live in without any say.0|00|0
- I come from Russia. The country would go from poor to very poor. Communism is a utopia only on paper. It kills individuality, creativity and human spirit. My grandparents lived through Stalin times...2|61|0
Stalin was not a communist. He just wore that badge for ease of a power hungry tyrant.
@kingofthellamas Isn't it how it always is. The State just makes slaves out of their citizens with communism.
@kingofthellamas in my country, communism was good and actually improved people's quality of life. My parents are neutral on Stalin.

@Ryfyle america uses private prison slavery too all government is evil. I know 2 people lived under stalin. one said he was best leader russia ever had other said he put the countries progress at expense of millions of lives. ONLY place communism worked is cuba. @israelisevil Cuba been turned into tourist theme park. (https://www. cnn. com/travel/article/cuba-coronavirus-lockdown-tourism/index. html) Boomer Disney Land only exists through capitalist dollars. Communism is the only option when the Rich want real power. Standard Oil funded the bolsheviks. Lenin grew up without knowing poverty.
- I've never been able to visualize it. Whenever someone explains it to me it seems very vague or reliant on a bunch of assumptions. However maybe if we get to the point where ai automates everything and renders most people effectively useless then we might have to try it or at least something different than what we have now.0|10|0
- Well we have a economy that restricted people to only working jobs that the government decided was good for you. If you ever played fallout 3 at the beginning of the story they take a test that is basically useless because it's just stupid questions, well that's how a command economy would function to a extent. People would be a lot more miserable for sure, sense no matter how high you go your not gonna be making anymore money the average joe, also food shortage's and surplus would go up extremely sense the market symbols that would tell economist what to do, would be gone pretty much. The government would be like china and it would more then likely go up in flames because the people in my country ( U. S.) would more then likely die then let it happen0|11|0
- The theory is that Communism is attainable after your society has collectively generated enough money and resources through capitalism to sustain itself. You effectively need the entire world to become communist to provide you resources, or you need a government to protect and insulate the communist bubble from other powers who would exploit it.0|00|0
- Communism and socialism havee have have been proven not to work as a system for a country... Ever. I can already see the comments saying that Italy and the Nordic counties are socialist. You would be correct partially. The part your not is these countries are based off of capitalism which allows the countries to have a few social programs. The size of the country has a big impact on how many and what social programs can be implemented into the system.0|10|0

Both are totalitarian but that’s about where the similarities end.
Generally speaking, Fascism:
1. Tends to be right wing.
2. Social conservatism
3. 3rd position economy - mixture of capitalism and socialism. Marriage of cooperate and government power
4. Ultranationalism
5. Nation is stressed rather than the individual
6. Patriarchal
7. Militaristic in nature - warrior culture nationalized and promoted
That’s nothing like communism.
- it did for how many years, in russia, 50 years or so... hell putin is a former USSR spy. He wants the iron curtain back. Why do you think he invaded crimea and is trying to invade other countries too
But, that's just russia.. there are other communist nations.

Even the suggestion of it under the US Constitution is treason because it is diabolically contrary 180 to the constitution, which is supreme law over all other laws.0|01|0
- Anonymous1 moIt can't. It assumes that being paid the same wage or being allowed to avoid death by firing squad or being thrown in gulags is a good enough motivation to get people to contribute to society but it isn't. There must be a reward that makes doing the job worth the work in which capitalism rewards you with money in which you can exchange for goods and services thus starting the cycle anew.
Under communism technological advancement would happen slower if at all because the reward for thinking outside the box is the same as everyone else.0|11|0 - Anonymous1 moCommunism cannot function as the dogma says it should because it is administered by human beings who are all flawed, they will always want 'a little bit for themselves' and if they happen to become leaders they'll want more, Look at every Communist regime set up around the world and you'll see its true no matter the good intent they always go bad then worse.0|00|0
- That would mean that everything would have to be re-organized... and at the same time.
Public life and 'supplies' will collapse for a while.
It will of course NOT function - recent history has shown that clear enough.
Problem being (my view), that 'communism' is based on facts and assumptions from the mid 19th century; which are now outdated or invalid.
Maybe someone comes up with some kind of neo-communism; but I can't see that soon.0|11|0 - Communism needs private property and free market like China did it. However this make China not communist. Only North Korea and Cuba are real communist countries and both sucks economically.0|00|0
- It wouldn't function because of human greed and would turn into a regular democratic oligarchy as best and a dictatorship as worst.1|31|0
There'd be no reason for greed because there would be no money or positions of privilege. Everyone would be provided for.
Positions of privilege will always exist as long as social jeraechy exist, and social jerarchy will exist as long as we keep beign social animals that like to engage in organized groups.
In order for a state to provide, there must be organization, so there must be a governmental institution. That government has the duty to organize society according to the desires and needs of the majority. Now, in order to society to function there's work to do, and each person has to take a role. Not everybody can get the same. For example, food is necessary but so is Healthcare. Not everybody can be farmers or doctors. In the same line, the government can't be empty, someone has to take the administrative role, organize and assure everything is well organized. But not everybody can take this role. The person in the administrative role is immediately in a position of power the rest of the society is not. So, the inevitable needed role of a leader, defy equal status, and automatically make more ambitious individuals crave for the position of power, but not all them will be able to satisfy their ambition, as the leading positions are very limited.I made some grammar and spelling mistakes. @Ryfyle Nazis were the opposite of socialists. They hated socialists. It was one of their main political pillars to destroy socialism, it was in the first pages of Hitler's Mein Kampf. They had capitalist tenders all the way into 1943, whereas even the UK went full socialist regulating even the production of buttons. Yeah you don't know your history.
Why 400? Also, why should someone who sweeps the floor earn as much as the person who founded and maintains the business?
So your going to tell me that the Soviet Gulags were just summer camps for troubled youth? Why is that Socialism ends up degrading into communism, which in turn just leads to Party lead Feudalism. Socialists always enslave the proletariat to the State.
Secondly, CEO's tend to get fired by the Companies Board of Directors if they are not attracting enough investors, and investors are quite finicky.- Opinion Owner1 mo
@Ryfyle this isn’t true, ceos get golden parachutes of millions of dollars if they are Teri me and fail and are kicked out of a company. Capitalism is broken. People in America die because they can’t afford insulin. Insulin is free or nearly free in every other developed country because they socialized healthcare. Socialism works in healthcare it works in education it works for sidewalks, firefighters, city parks, sewars. Socialism just works.
If you can't get Insulin or insurance, most states can get you on Medicaid super quick. If you're too retarded to do that, that's on you. The US Spends more money on Welfare, Social Services, and Medicaid than the Defense Budget. (http://federalsafetynet. com/entitlement-spending. html)
You have to be an absolute moron not to be aware of this. If a single mom is working three fucking jobs, she's dumb as fuck on many critical levels.- Opinion Owner1 mo
@Ryfyle you do see that socialism is the future right? Almost nobody under the age of 30 likes capitalism anymore, no country on earth wants American style health care, every single other one wants free healthcare. The future is more socialism and less capitalism. And happiness will increase. Countries with the highest taxes and strongest socialized programs are the happiest. Why would you want to make more people unhappy?
Your future requires the enslavement of billions to work and a lethal explosion of mediocrity to sustain. The British NHS is on the brink of Collapse, Venezuela mixed socialism with Saudi Arabia amounts of oil and is still in a famine, And China is still a totalitarian hellscape. That Happiness is enforced with guns. That Happiness is mandatory poverty. You want to turn people into surfs. You want slaves to the state. You want a world filled with smiling lobotomites that cheer when one of their one gets shot in the streets for questioning the State. My Grandmothers Family fled Socialism for a good fucking reason. The only people that want Socialism are feel good Narcissists who think there going to have a nice office job with the state, above the filthy proles that have to be force to slave away in the fields. Most folks in their 20's are naive morons.
- Opinion Owner1 mo
@Ryfyle not at all, by socialism I mean socializing programs like health, education, sidewalks, fire protection, electricity... very very few people want capitalist healthcare lol, it’s an absolute failure in the USA (the only country without socialized medicine). Socialism just works in Canada, Sweden, France, etc... your examples of dictatorships have nothing to do with Scandinavian style social programs which is what I’m walking about
If your to broke to get health insurance, you can sign up for medicaid, The State then covers your medical bills. The rest of your complaints are just simple Civil Services, do you think We don't have Roads in the rest of the US? Lastly, no one in the US has had to wait 8 weeks to receive Medical Care, Unlike Canadians and the British. Wanna know why the Scandinavians little programs are working so well? They got a relatively smaller population and are ethnically homogeneous. Final Example, Some British Plumber got his arm Snapped and the NHS had it canceled like four times, That doesn't happen here in the US. I Straight up hobbled into a Urgent Care facility, and then hobbled out of that same facility with a prescription in hand no cost to me when I was on Medicaid.

That is your evidence? By the way, I'm in Canada and nobody here wants American style healthcare. They love their socialized medicine more than hockey, and that is saying a lot! I've never had to wait excessively long for anything in my whole life.

Well if you're concerned about lazy ass people you'd probably want communism because if you didn't work you went to jail.
@Ad_Quid_Orator yeah but why would i spend 80 hours inventing something for example when i could just lazy do a half ass job for the standard 20 hour commie work week? Id also call sick as much as i could get away with. What a waste of my talent dont you think?
Because people are motivated by more than money:
hbr.org/.../people-dont-need-a-profit-motive-to-innovate- Show All Show Less
@Ad_Quid_Orator well simply inventing a product for your own use is useless in communism. For example i just fabricated a custom part for my truck. What incentive would communism provide for me to make 10,000 of them and find people to distribute them etc etc? I mean i like working on my truck but short of a million dollar a year business im not interested in spending so much effort on making little metal widgets.
Well first of all you're projecting your attitude on everyone else but second, you are aware that communist countries have scientists and engineers that are paid to develop new technologies right?
Just like here in the US you have scientists and engineers developing new technologies in state run research facilities (which pretty much all the innovations made in the private sector have been piggy backing off of).
@Ad_Quid_Orator i was not aware in communism you could be paid extra. So how is it different than capitalism again?
And yes i can attribute my attitude to other people. If other motivations were so powerful besides money why do most people immediately stop working as soon as they aren't paid? Why dont they just keep working and working for free because its fun? Lmfao.Like if you got fired from a job you loved, im not aware of one person who loved it so much they offered to work for free.
It's different because you don't get to exploit the labor of others. Also, we're talking about innovating, not going to work and undergoing rinse and repeat tasks dumbass.
You seem to have a delusional world view when all innovation is driven by private sector profit motives.@Ad_Quid_Orator all innovation isn't. But all business activity is. Its one thing to invent the lightbulb. Its completely another to get thousands of people working together to manufacture and distribute them everywhere there is demand for them. Show me the article about how often that happens.
All business activity is in the US because that's the way our economic system works with corporate innovation piggy backing off of state research. But none the less there have been a series of innovations that were distributed in the USSR:
www.inventions-handbook.com/...ian-inventions.html
And to clarify I'm not a communist, I'm just saying it's better than the system of Laze Fair capitalism proposed by so called "libertarians" in the US.@Ad_Quid_Orator but whether people are paid or not, if fun and fulfillment and recognition were enough, why aren't people building companies for those reasons? It shouldn't matter if we live in capitalism since the money is irrelevant.
Because people who run companies are in it for the money and they aren't for the most part, the people who develop new innovations; rather they just exploit them for their benefits.
@Ad_Quid_Orator but without the business, innovation is useless. You can invent an iphone but if you dont setup factories and gather workers and get retailers to display the product to the right people your invention doesn't do anything. So why dont people to that for free?
If there is no other way to distribute your innovation besides business, then it it useless but in communist countries there are other means besides businesses to spread innovations. And people don't do it for free for the same reason they work: they need an income to survive but to say that unless people could make millions off innovations, they wouldn't innovate is pure fantasy because may innovations came out of communist countries.
@Ad_Quid_Orator again back to innovation. When you have a new product, who is going to do the work of setting up the possibly thousands of people to deliver it? Manufacturing shipment final consumer education customer support... who is going to set that whole system up for free, or should i say for the same benefits as cashier at a grocery store? As communism rewards everyone equally.
Actually wages do vary within communist countries and they already have a system of distribution that doesn't involve corporations; they have state bureaus.
@Ad_Quid_Orator how would state bureaus decide what is worth distributing and what isn't? It would be entirely left to a human to decide, in which case many burecrat might not know when a particular invention is better than another one and thus deserves priority.
In a capitalist system, the market naturally makes that decsion without some big daddy government telling the citizens what's worth producing and what isn't - the citizens buy what they need and, subsequently, the thing they buy will remain. They can't "know" but they can analyze market data and make and informed decision on the matter (at least more informed than the market). The free market (contrary to popular views in the US) isn't some elegant system that autocorrects and it's riddled with inefficiencies.
