Anytime. There’s more than one form of socialism, and the type of socialism can swing the ideology to the right wing or left wing.
There hasn't been a single communist and socialist country that wasn't authoritarian. So no, the economic and the governing philosophies aren't separate.
@FakeName123 There has never been a communist country. All of them stop at the dictatorship phase, because most human beings who acquire power do not relinquish it. That's why the Founding Fathers of the United States are remembered and revered in this nation.
They created a system that kept the power in hands of the people and authoritarians like you have been chipping away it ever since it was created.

13. We demand nationalization of all businesses which have been up to the present formed into companies (trusts).
14. We demand that the profits from wholesale trade shall be shared out.
15. We demand an expansion on a large scale of old age welfare.
16. We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its conservation, immediate communalization of the great warehouses and their being leased at low cost to small firms, the utmost consideration of all small firms in contracts with the State, county or municipality.
17. We demand a land reform suitable to our needs, provision of a law for the free expropriation of land for the purposes of public utility, abolition of taxes on land and prevention of all speculation in land.
@FakeName123 The nazi's actions fit the definition of fascism. Who cares about their bullshit campaign promises.
Fascism: a system of government led by a dictator who typically rules by forcefully and often violently suppressing opposition and criticism, controlling all industry and commerce, and promoting nationalism and often racism.
Except I am german and controlling the means of production and distribution is exactly what they did. Its not my fault that your history knowledge is lackluster. Also fascism and socialism aren't mutually exclusive. Especially since every single socialist nation has turned into authoriatianism.
Whats your point here exactly? I dont have a typical American life I'd say but I'm not going explain it all.
No, I don't. However, I always tell people who are pro socialism in America to go to the ghetto. That is what socialism looks like.
@CalmYourTits we currently have bread lines in America. Is that an example of why capitalism doesn't work?
@CalmYourTits and your taxes will only increase if you make 400,000 I'm sure that you don't make that much.
We have bread lines because they are telling you not work, and making it illegal to work if you are deemed non essential. Capitalist do not believe in the closing down of the economy. Capitalist believe in stay clean, wash your hands, be responsible and get back to work.
I own a salon. Making 400k under the Trump administration was incredibly easy. I won't go into taxes with you because you don't own a small business, nor do you understand who is getting tax. Your taxes will go up too. Idc what they told you.
@CalmYourTits no my taxes will stay the same. Stop fear mongering. Right? Don't work just go die of starvation in your house. Screw masks. My parents own a small business and their taxes went up during the Trump administration
@CalmYourTits you want to make $400,000 a year? You and I both know you won't come close to that. I just want to pay my rent.
It's a common misconception particularly in America. Socialists are left wing but the nazis were far right. Obviously Americans on the right don't want the nazi link so they pushed the nazi=socialist idea. Fortunately any decent history book will explain it.(or Google)
The nazis were just like the soviet, but on a different side of the coin. The nazi party seized all means of production and forced every worker to join a union. Sound familiar? Thats socialism.
Please don't twist facts. It's well documented accepted fact that the Nazis were right wing.
They were communist. However, socialism leads to communism. Far anything is communism. No matter Left or Right.
"The uk between 44 and 79 was a socialist county"
What horseshit education did you claim to get?
If you look at the economic principles they're fundamently socialist. A good example is the 1948 founding of public health (NHS) but it is also true of the housing programmes and others. Lots of governments were socialist at that time and it's worth being certain on the gap between socialist and communist. They are two very different things but are today often confused and or used to mean the same thing (communism).
And since you ask I'm an Oxford grad.
Oxford grad of what, though. Even if, and it's a fucking big if, we accept your claim that Churchill, Eden, MacMillan, Dougas Home and Ted Heath were pushing socialist economic policy that's a far far cry from being a socialist country. I know conservatives hate the so-called welfare state, but trying to rewrite history like this is mental. What's your bar? If they didn't dismantle the nhs, they had to be socialist? Or is it just anything to the left of Margaret Thatcher is a socialist?
I'm sorry if I've upset you. It's just word. Your need not get so upset by it. it does not make some one a bad or evil person to be or not be socialist.
I'm not saying it is good , bad, wrong or right. If politicians have passsed socialist policies, that would appear to me be a good mark of if they are socist (regardless of whether they choose to wear a labour or conservative jacket).
To your point about which politican i set a line at I would prefer to give this more thought but suspect Tony Blair would be a good middle line. I would say left of Blair socialist, right of Blair (including Thatcher ) not socialist.
