How is it a fair share for rich people is like 60% of their income but a fair share for poor people is 0%?

- Poor people aren’t taxed 0% idiot but think about it in the grand scheme of things, is taking 40% on 1,000 gonna do anything for the government? No. That’s barely any money. On the other hand, 40% of 100,000 is a lot more. So it’s just not worth taxing poor people at high rates. Besides that it’s not moral. Anyways I don’t know what country you live in though but in the U. S. even the rich aren’t taxed at a rate as high as 60% . And there are also many loopholes written into the tax code that rich people take advantage of in order to pay lower taxes so many rich people actually pay super low taxes.0|00|0Is this still revelant?
- Asker1 mo
Go look at the tax rate poor people pay 0%. It's about 40% of Americans pay no federal income tax.
Yes it is 60% in America when you count everything for income tax including state level America is very heavily taxed. There is no loopholes that's a myth pushed by liberals to want to increase taxes. Really the top 1% pay like 89% of taxes you clearly have bought into a myth from the liberals that make you think rich people not paying all the bills when actually they are - Show All Show Less
Am I envious? I make 120k as a single woman I’m not doing bad financially I have no need to be envious. I’m just aware of how economics work.
I’m not envious. I have enough money for whatever I want. I’m 23 and make 6 figures and I’m single so all that money I can use for myself. I’m just not an idiot like some people 😘 take care love. Maybe read a book on economics and educate yourself. Or stay ignorant I don't know whatever you want.

It is a 100% in i have a masters in economics I work in finance. You clearly do not understand what your talking about inbox into a false theory that feed off your envy. Do you notice how you give no arguments just keep crying people have more And to educate yourself it's really you need to be educated.
Bro I gave u 3 sources backing up my argument. All you’ve said is “you’re envious”. Ur a joke. & honestly don’t believe you have a masters in economics. If you actually do then that was time & money down the toilet cause you obviously haven’t learnt shit.
Damn I guess you don’t know how to read :/ that sucks. When you learn reading comprehension, then go back and read the sources again. Xoxo💞 good luck!!

- Anonymous1 moYou're absolutely right, and most of the people here apparently don't know what you mean. The rich pay more than their fair share, so people need to stop saying they don't. - "Fair share" is a euphemism used by politicians and others to imply something that's not true. Politicians say "fair share" instead of using actual numbers, because they can imply something without being called on it. If they lied and said rich people pay XXX, then they get busted. So they imply that rich people pay little or no taxes, even though they pay tremendous amount of taxes. They don't pay a little more than other people, they pay dramatically more.
The IRS publishes a lot of this stuff. People who go on about rich people not paying taxes have obviously not bothered to look.0|00|0Is this still revelant? They don't know the actual numbers.
They don't know the difference between net worth and money, which is vastly different. They think someone like Gates or Bezos has 100 billion to redistribute.
They think money can be "printed" to pay for things.
They don't know the difference between marginal tax rate, effective tax rate, and payroll deductions. They try to compare their payroll deduction to someone else's effective tax rate.
They don't know that deductions are how the government controls other people's money.
They think increasing wealth disparity is a bad thing, when it's a sign that things are going good for the average person.
They say things like 300 people own 80% of the country. Obviously they never thought it through and did some very simple math.
They think when they buy something at a store that a rich CEO is getting a big chunk of that. In reality the cashier who checked them out gets a heck of a lot more than the CEO.
It goes on and on.
- You need to get your head out your ass, bucko. You've got everything the wrong way round.
It's the poor that pay full tax on everything they buy, and even on their debts, and all on diminishing wages. The rich get tax breaks, tax cuts, and even grants and contracts off the taxpayers checkbook.
The money of most they put into offshore havens to avoid paying tax on. It's the rich that need to get more "skin" in the game. The rich don't become the rich by playing the game fairly. You must be new to the game, moron.0|00|0Is this still revelant?

016- You do realize the poor spend there entire paycheck on necessities and dont have anything to give? Not every person is capable of being or wants to be a CEO of a million dollar company. Not every CEO can cook or even know how to fix a leaky sink. None the less, they are both needed to make the world go round.
Or here is a closer to home example.
Husband/boyfriend goes to work, wife/girlfriend stays home takes care of kids, cleans house, laundy, cooks... To me, if a woman did all that has more value then if she worked. One I hate taken care of house 2, when i get home, i want take her and kids to a park or work on a project etc. 3, i can work a shit ton of OT which is more then likely more then she could make otherwise anyway.
I would hope she would appreciate the fact that she was able to make a house a home.
So which person has more value, the guy or the girl? We generally say, well one makes more. Well guess who pays more... the person who makes more, but the girl above doesn't earn anything but still has contributed.
Another example I have used in my life similar to answering the question. Guy makes 60% of house income, she obviously makes 40%.
Fair share would be 50/50 right? WRONG. The woman would be over paying at 50% and could not afford life.
So rent, is 1000. I would have to pay all of it myslef. But if i pay 600 I save 40% and she pays 400 she saves 60%.
So if this was a school or a road... same principle.
So are you suggesting if a poor person shouldn't eat because the income differnce is say... 99% to 1%?1|10|1Another analogy is how can the poor pay for ALL the expenses if the rich have All the income. That is the problem with what we have now a two class system, of which 90% of the wealth is controlled by 10% of the people.
- Asker1 mo
It's not my fault the poor people lack skills to make more yes you see that hold 90% is owned by the 10% group in basically everything that is a natural phenomenon because in truth it's only really to top 10% who does anything. The system works fine the problem is the failure parasites are envious of people who have more than them and cry they deserve free stuff and the corrupt politicians use this to get into powe
And why do they need that free stuff? Cause walmart only will work them 28hrs a wk and since they dont give a consistent schedule it makes it hard to get another job... why not have walmart work them 40 and have to offer them insurance they are large enough to self insure. Let alone pay them a fair wage...
- Show All Show Less
- Asker1 mo
Yes thanks to government regulations it makes it very hard for them to get full time employment because the value of working Walmart is not really worth that much so of course they cannot pay them that much so they have to do stuff like giving them part time do not have to follow the regulations for the full time law get rid of those these people have plenty of hours. Its government when you actually start understanding.
A fair wage doesn't mean anything you don't get paid by how much you think it's fair. If you lack skills sorry your not going to have a lot of money that's your own fault for being a failure with no skills. In 2020 walmart made 524 BILLION and had 2.2M employees. Walmart's share of part-time workers is well above the industry average of around 30 percent.
In theory each employee is suppose to generate 200k gross income. Walmart makes 228K per employee. If you increase to FT employees to 85% that becomes 280K per employee of profit - not gross income.
Health insurance for a large company cost about 15500 AND give them a 3$ raise... they would still make 258K profit per employee.
Emphasis on the 258K per employee PROFIT not Gross income per employee.
So you were saying?
You aren't that smart are you? Profit and income are 2 different things. Income in money generated when you buy things/they sell things... Profit is whats left over AFTER ALL expenses are paid.
So again to be clear... a employee on average will generate 200k in INCOME... walmart generates 280K per employee of PROFIT... HUGE DIFFERENCE...
So what other bullshit you got to spew?
- No they don't. The top 20% makes 80% of the annual income and the top 10% has 90% of all accumulated wealth. That is not fair at all.
In the Bible, there is about a 60% total tax on the Rich, and every 50 years the rich people's land is divided equally among the poor. The only thing poor people owe in the Bible is two turtledoves once per year.
"conservatives" who oppose taxes and wealth distribution are opposing the Law of God.0|00|0 - Because rich people make well above what is necessary to live a good life.
But let's be honest here. It isn't about fairness. It's about what happens when too much of the nation's wealth ends up in the hands of too few people who don't actually do any work for that wealth. Which is almost universally bad. So, consider a high tax a down payment on not going to the guillotine.1|12|0It’s not envy. Dude @asker you have no concept of finances or how to economy works. A rich person, no matter how rich, can only buy so much. They can only go out to eat so often. So all that wealth they have isn’t being stimulated into the economy. On the other hand if that same amount of wealth is spread over many households, those households each will go out to eat, go shopping, etc a certain number of times. That will stimulate the economy more and help business owners and corporations make more money. It’s simple economics.
- Asker1 mo
All wealth stimulates the economy doesn't matter where it is even if they keep it in currency it is because the government steals the value from currency printing money everything is connected there's no such thing as hoarding wealth or anything like that as liberals like you to believe. Clear you don't understand economics and buy into the false lies liberals push to make you think rich people or evil not you jist lack skills their doing this do you vote for them out of envy
- Show All Show Less
It’s not envy. It’s facts. It’s been proven that trickle down economics doesn’t work. Do ur research dude
www.thebalance.com/supply-side-economics-does-it-work-3305786
equitablegrowth.org/.../
Clearly states how supply side economics doesn’t work. Tax cuts are a short term solution but long term they do not help to stimulate economy. Demand-driven economics is much more effectiveActually we’ve been using side supply economics. It’s basically reagonomics and bush followed this theory as well. When Obama took office he’s the one who turned the economy around by impmenting demand-led economics. Now we’re in a recession again because surprise surprise we have a republican president who believes in side supply/trickle down reagonomics. It’s proven not to work. Look @ the #’s. I forgot ur reading comprehension is not the best but if you try really hard you might be able to understand it.
Side supply economics is reagonomics and bush used side supply theory as well. I think ur confusing it with something else
Also nobody wants to steal from anyone. Liberals just believe in a different economic theory. Smh typical conservative hillbilly trailer trash who thinks that there can’t be multiple economic theories. Also typical conservative trailer trash who will do their most to defend billionaires that will never give a shit about them.
- Asker1 mo
Actually liberals do want to steal. Yes they believe in different theory that doesn't work unless they force everyone into a gunpoint and it works for a few decades until everyone is very poorly.
There's a reason why their ideas are never really put on the state level because if you give people a choice people are never going to choose to pay very high taxes to give money to the parasites you get a few people who will but never enough to actually fund the programs this is why there is no programs like this on the state level and liberals are so crazy to take over the federal government because it's about giving no choice it's about putting a gun to people's head saying give me your money. You know what’s funny is historically the economy tends to do better under democrats and government spending tends to increase under republicans. If history is any guide, side supply economics just doesn’t work! You can go back and look at the numbers yourself :
www.jec.senate.gov/.../...presidents-june-2016.pdf
It has nothing to do with “stealing” or “envy”. It’s simple economics theory and the data shows that Democrats have the right idea when it comes to economy. But oh well that’s just facts. I know you republicans are not one for facts. It has nothing to do with currency printing. And no offense you don’t seem the smartest so it’s hilarious that you think YOU of all people know better than two Princeton economists. The categories they used to measure how good the economy was doing was job creation and GDP growth and in both cases, job creation and GDP growth was higher under Democrat’s. That has 0 to do with currency printing. I’m starting to think that you can’t read.
- Asker1 mo
Actually it's a 100% to do a currency printing that is the reason why it looks like democrats are doing better but in truth the currency's just going down. This system is coming to an end reset is coming at least your going to see how these ideas are very destructive in the coming decade or so
On god you are an idiot. Can u explain wtf currency printing has to do with GDP growth rate and job creation?
And like I said the source I linked referenced a report done by two Princeton economists. I’m sure they know better than some crack head that’s on GAG and is living in some butt fuck nowhere town living off welfare yet defending the billionaires as if they care about youZ- Asker1 mo
Because that's what it's measured in do not understand. It's very clear you don't understand not going to understand what's going to happen with the reset and be crying that the government's not taking care of you anymore.
Have fun with your life it's going to be funny to see you crying in a few years about how everything you believed in was wrong and health cannot be in the government needs to come in save you Job creation is measured in currency? Umm no it isn’t and GDP accounts for inflation dumbass.
Also what “reset”😂😭 lay off the crack my guy.I’m not missing the point. You have NO point. I showed you the facts and you ignore it because it doesn’t fit your narrative. Instead you start ranting about “currency printing” which doesn’t even make sense. That sounds like something a 3rd grader might come up with. And the “reset” you’re talking just sounds like some crack pot conspiracy theory. Anyways I’m so happy I’m not a delusional crack head like you 🥰 have a good day
- Almost all poor people pay taxes. Many items that people buy, results in taxes being paid. Even essentials are often taxed.0|00|0
- Asker1 mo
Talking about income tax. About 40% of Americans don't pay income tax on the federal level. Then you have the people who just live off the government getting money they don't pay taxes on anything they just get free money the fact is poor people don't really pay taxes their parasites we need to make them start paying so they realise taxes are very high and they are just envious little kids wanting free stuff
The type of tax is irrelevant. Paying taxes puts with skin in the system. People who make minimum wage are often very hard workers, who contribute to system far beyond what they are paid. They are not parasites. If anyone is a parasite, it's the wealthy who make a great deal of money, and pay very little in taxed. Trump is a prime example.
- Asker1 mo
You don't get paid because you think you deserve that much there's your whole flaw in your logic. Does it matter how hard you work it matters how much value you produce you should go learn that in you realise all your ideas are false. Go look up irs data the rich pay the vast majority of the taxes by far you really have no clue what your talking about.
- Show All Show Less
I didn't say a person should get paid a certain amount because they think they should be paid that much. However, our laws allow a great amassing of wealth, and make it more difficult for an average poor person to break out of poverty. When middle class people pay a higher percentage of taxes, than does a multimillionaire president, the laws are skewed at making wealthy people more wealthy, and the middle class person staying in the middle class.
- Firstly, poor people do pay their fair share. It is proportional to your income. For example, a 10% flat tax. A rich man who makes $10 million per year pays $1 million, while a poor man who makes $10000 per year pays $1000. Now has the system been complicated by the private industries in the last few decades? Absolutely. And we need to get back to the old way.1|00|0
No, we don't. We used to, just like we used to have affordable health care, before it was privatized. And we all pay taxes, but are you saying we should all pay the same amount?
- Because you need a certain amount of money to afford a living.
if you are poor and already struggle to make a living you can't expect them to pay taxes. They literally have no money to pay these taxes.0|10|0Not really. Unless you cut other expenses.
Rent, bills, food, clothing, the bare necessities will cost you a certain amount of money and if you earn barely enough you can't pay anything extra, tax included.
- Taxes are not about fairness.
Governments are not about fairness.0|00|0 - Take money from starving mothers and hungry children? Excellent!1|10|0
Useless beings should be purged! It's never your fault! That's right.
Kinda cool actually. If you can force someone into poverty then you could essentially kill them. You will have power them like masters and slaves. If they can't pay taxes they die!
It's a crime not to have enough money. What an excellent point.- Asker1 mo
The only thing forcing them into poverty is their lack of skill and planning ability. It's funny how you think if you don't have enough it gives you the right to steal from others. Sorry if you can't afford something you don't deserve to make everyone else life worse making them pay more so you can get it for free you deserve to go without even if it means death just means you are a failure
- Show All Show Less
Why not? If I have money. i can hire someone to steal from you and make you poor. Hell, I can raise the rent because i like it and keep you poor.
The one with money and power has all the rights. Those without money are simply insects. You're right about that.
- Oh boo hoo the rich have to contribute to the country that helped make them rich. I feel *SO* sorry for them..1|10|0
- Not only do the poor pay nothing, the actually get services and money for nothing.0|11|0
There is another way to look at it. Poor people spend 100% of the money they are given and stimulates the economy. Rich people have investments and savings that do not benefit the economy. As such having less rich people and more poor people is more economically stimulative for the country.
@Soteris Except that rich people spend more than poor people. And the investments go into bonds which help cities build and pay for things. Other investments buy equity in companies that then build items for sale or services. Even their taxes, which are large, get spent stimulating the economy and creating new jobs.
... No they do not. Like literally, no they do not. If rich people spent as much as poor people then they would be broke. That is sort of the definition of being poor after all. Most of their investments are also not economically stimulative such as stocks or speculating on the markets. As for taxes, if we take USA as an example then I pay more taxes than many of the richest Americans and richest American companies combined.
As such poor people stimulate the economy much better and provides far more jobs than rich people.- Show All Show Less
Yeah? And how much money do the rich person have left that they did not spend? How much money do the poor person have left? If we consider the well being of the economy then money NOT being spent is useless.
Yeah.. Aside from the initial sale you are simply trading with other traders in the stock market. No actual value is produced such as cars and there is no service provided such as a spa trip. As such these things are mostly economically worthless.
@Soteris First, no one would buy if they couldn’t sell later so the initial sale then is worthless to investors. And as companies offer new rounds of equity they then invest in new areas of the company. A small company can grow a lot faster by selling equity. So, no downstream sale then no initial sale. Also stock is provided to key individuals to keep them motivated. No initial sale or no initial sale with a good price due to no further re-sales, then the entrepreneur doesn’t see the big payoff and therefore doesn’t take the risk and gets a slouch government job.
You didn’t mention the other big component, Bonds. Cities would flounder without bond sales. So what you are basically saying is that I am completely correct. Stocks has a very limited way to influence the actual economy such as providing equity to a company, something that can be done in other ways mind you. Same thing with all your other examples, nothing is unique to stocks, bonds etc.. and quite frankly they do it exceedingly poorly in comparison with the stimulative effect of a poor man buying a sandwich that provides jobs for countless people and the production and consumption of products.
Lastly cities are government entities. They can literally either create or take the money they need from taxes. The fact that they have to resort to selling bonds is pathetic.@Soteris You obviously don’t have investments of significance other than a fair bit of marijuana. Cities can’t raise taxes sharply to pay for major infrastructure. That is like saying a person buying a house has to pay it all at once and not take out a mortgage. None of your arguments make sense except to yourself perhaps. The entire world including places like China have stock markets because they benefit the community and nation. Smoke some more and spout nonsense while the world passes s you by then.
Cities are not independent, they are an extension of the government. It is up to the government to ensure that the cities has adequate funding (or not), they are not private entities. As for the benefits of the stock market I did mention that there technically was some but I also emphasized that even in those cases its not necessarily the best way to achieve those results. Its very inefficient and the reason the stock market is so well liked is because certain people can exploit it for economic benefit, just like with gambling, crime or war. Does not necessarily make it a good thing.
Well that is certainly one alternative and dont come here talking about corruption and inefficiency when the stock market skyrockets while the economy nose-dives. Any notion of a mutually beneficial relationship between the stock market and the economy is just out the window, its more like its a parasite on the economy.
It was booming long before the vaccines were announced and again, how does this benefit the actual economy that is currently dying a slow painful death?
