Why are we so scared of immigration in the United States?

The data's in; Central American immigrants work wonders for the economy and provide more job opportunities for low-skilled job workers.

Larger populations have an almost 1-for-1 correlation with greater wealth generation, economic output, and national prosperity. These people are consumers just like American-born citizens, they provide a demand that stimulates the market production.

The FBI's own research from 1993 to 2013 showed that violent crime went down as immigration went up. The link between immigrants and both violent and nonviolent crime is negligible.

Immigrants form a much-needed cultural bridge between the United States and the rest of the countries we share a planet with. Cultures aren't harmed or destroyed when countries mix. Quebec had no problem integrating with Canada while maintaining a distinct culture.

Why is this impossibly hard for us to just accept and begin opening up our borders more?
