What do you think about AOC striking with a union instead of being at Biden's Inauguration?

I think it is impotent publicity wise for politicians to be at strikes in general. The strikes gain media attention and the support of those with power which creates positive influence countrywide. I think it was very good on her to show up.

in my opinion all near by Reps in NYC Jamaal Bowman 16th district ; Hakeem Jeffries 8th district ; Adriano Espaillat 13th district; Mondaire Jones 17th district; Richie Torres 15th district ; should show up with those unions strikers on the regular~~ esp bc they are only in DC half the year. Same as for all near by Reps to all union strikes in all cities across the country.

There have been very many for months with little attention given. There has been a recent upsurge in union strikes. More in recent times then have been since 1930s. During the depression. Should be acknowledged and supported by the people’s Reps.

It is a shame all they were able to get was 32 cents on the dollar that they were originally going for. They should’ve started higher. The union leaders get a lot of money to deal with these fights they should push harder for their members. This is shameful but I do understand they needed something.

Strike or not, I think the fact that she still feels threatened by her colleges is a reason in itself for her to not go to the capital. Inauguration or not. I’m not sure how this will be reconciled as it does not seem there is much movement to deal with it officially. Eventually, she will have to go back to work. The fear will still be there

... If it is a genuine concern this is a real problem. It is not only her with fear she has great influence. Her supporters are very worried there is a real threat. This is not something that should be taken lightly. I’m not sure how she will simply walk back to the capital if she is under threat with nothing being done. If it is not a real threat it shouldn’t be publicized as such.

Personally , I don’t have a hard on for military occupation, so I would have refrained from inauguration as a Conscientious objector.

Personally, I find it really refreshing to see a politician who genuinely seems to live up to her ideals. Ocasio-Cortez has consistently supported unions, and she's simply following through on her rhetoric. Publicly avoiding the inauguration will cost her a lot of political capital, meaning that she's attending the strike because she believes it's the right thing to do, even if it hurts her. Regardless of how you feel about her politics, this is proof that's she actually practices what she preaches - something that the rest of Congress should take note of.
