But the thing about him is that he could absorb and actually understand the most complex mathematical and algorithmic papers in a single day. I had to take weeks to comprehend the same papers and I had to do my own simulations to get a feel for what the authors said. He could sort of simulate these things in his brain and understand them immediately. And I wasn't a featherweight in the brain department -- I scored over 150 IQ on Mensa and was a Mensa member (at least back before I killed my brain cells with alcohol). He was much, much, much smarter at me at this regardless.
