They say “history is written by the victor”, but I don’t take that as “you win the right to decide what the truth is”, but rather “take any mainstream history you hear and always remember that’s just what the guys who won said, there’s a whole other side of the story from the losers, and the third side, the actual truth. What do you think a North Korean history book says? The actual truth? Does Kim Jong Un have the right to just tell future generations that NK was the greatest nation that ever existed, everything was perfect, everyone was completely happy, and pretty much everywhere else was run by a bunch of assholes, all because his “side” won out in a war decades ago? I see “history is written by the victors” as a caveat to the historian or whoever else is studying it.So I say that to say white people in America are the descendants of “the victors” who wrote the history. Or fortunate beneficiaries, if they came later, because it’s simply always been easier to make it here if you’re white, while still giving a nod to certain early immigrants from Europe who faced discrimination, but that faded quicker than for people of color, because they ultimately were accepted as “white”, particularly as integration progressed and with the increased influx of non-white immigrants.
So being descendants of the victors and still holding the social power, even if inadvertently, I think it’s fair to examine history from other angles, or giving fair depictions of historical figures. “Hey, this guy invented some shit, or founded this or that, and that’s awesome. But the dude owned slaves, so let’s pump the brakes on the confetti. It was a weird time.” Why is that upsetting to anyone to discuss? Again, forget what you heard on Tucker Carlson or Facebook, I’m talking about reality…. I really don’t think the moral is going to be “fuck George Washington up the ass with the handle of the ax he chopped down the cherry tree with”, that time period just needs to be analyzed and we can have honest and insightful discussions about where we are today, where we’ve succeeded, where we’ve so far failed, how to improve, and just generally being understanding of other people who might be in a different situation than you. And most importantly, don’t be disrespectful when someone tells you about their experiences in this country and society and be like “oh, that’s not your experience, you just have a victim’s mentality.” Just insanely disrespectful to do that. And to be fair, no one needs to go for white people’s necks either, this is about understanding, not conflict. It’s just a touchy subject and things can get heated at times en route to that understanding. It can’t be “whoawhoawhoa, don’t blame ME!”, that’s misinterpreting it, and in the case of someone aggressive and you aren’t misinterpreting, shame on them, they aren’t above reproach, they should be called for that too, just try to cut a little slack when someone is fired up, because it’s a sensitive subject.
So I guess my question is, after reading the passage I quoted that gives what I think is a pretty fair and non-aggressive explanation of a pretty fair and non-aggressive idea (again, IN REALITY, not just what some conservative source tells you), what are people’s objections to CRT as it’s been described here? If everything is fine in America, why are white people afraid of or averse to the conversation? I really don’t have a dog in the fight, I don’t pay government any mind, this is non-partisan for me, I do what the fuck I want, fuck Biden, fuck Trump, fuck anyone who tries to tell me shit, lmao. I’m just a guy on the sidelines taking notes on the fuckery I see unfolding before my eyes on a daily basis. I’m not rooting for any outcome, I’m trying to call it how I see it. Nobody’s truly neutral, of course, but I don’t have the usual politically-inspired non-neutrality is all I’m saying, haha. I come in peace, not to point fingers as much as to get people seeing clearly and shaking hands, ya feel me?(This got wicked long with the included passage, my bad, totally understand if no one reads it, but I’ve been in the zone on strong indica for like 45 minutes, so I’m posting it, otherwise it was an even bigger waste of time lmao)
Oh ok, so it all sounds perfectly reasonable actually and the word theory does infact seem to have been used properly, which is a nice surprise. It does seem like a needlessly complicated way of saying that when the police of America go home and turn on their tv they are told that the black guy is the enemy for 6 hours straight before they goto bed each night, then the next day they get up bright eyed and bushy tailed and get on with the task of killing every black guy they see who wasn't wise enough to invest in a day glow orange safety wallet.
Right? A little active parenting is so much better than keeping all the ideas you don’t like away from them although.
