to OP - if change the photo to one that shows the correct union flag I will translate what I said,,,
I also live in the UK (south east) and like you I think it is silly. I think the only people who ever say it to me are taxi drivers, market stall staff and my window cleaner.
Lol niceTrue @karaspara @ChrisMaster69 ?
LMAO not sure what type of British accent that is 😂
Lol maybe it’s just my poor stage accent?
I can kinda see it with a strong cockney accent now you've said it 😂
@karaspara makes me think of Michael Caine lol
Your only supposed to blow the bloody doors off
😂😂Thanks for the mho.

I would salute back!
Hasah! International relations… isn’t it a beautiful thing. 🤗
Is it weird having a British father?
@Levin why would that be weird?
I don't know. Brits and Americans are two countries separated by a common language as the old quote goes. The more I listen to Americans, the more odd I find it. We just sound so different from one another. I'm intrigued by accents in general though.
@Levin well even within america there's several different accent. compare those from california to those from boston or brooklyn for example
I know. A personal favourite of mine is the Cali accent. They sound so confident and then they drawl out the accent and there's often a croak or a huskiness. And then it kind of complements my stiff uptight English accent! Drives me wild!
1 of 2@Levin & @Still-alive Woah! Boys, boys, no fighting! Still alive, Levin asked me a question, I can answer for myself. While I appreciate the “white-knighting” I am the only one here who happens to be an American girl with a British dad! So let me answer? Phew! The testosterone… Okay this is actually, one of the best questions anyone here (or anywhere) has ever asked me, about ME! I can’t really say that being an American kid with a British dad is weird, because I don’t know how it FEELS to have an American dad, he's the only dad I’ve ever had! I will say that British parents are more demanding, they expect more, but in a good way! (And NOT JUST my dad, don’t forget, HALF my family lives in England, I even have friends in Liverpool AND Birmingham, because I used to go SO much, and their dads are pretty much the same!) British parents expect teens to GROW-UP! They expect us to behave like adults, and if we do, then they reward us with the freedoms of being an adult! I think American parents baby their kids WAY too much, they almost infantilise teens here! Both of my parents are absolutely brilliant, and it can be extremely intimidating trying to live up to the example they set. I mean my mom was a combat surgeon in the army and worked alongside special forces, so we have lots of pics around the house of mom in battle dress, carrying a machine gun, or like one of my mom in a bombed-out hospital in Afghanistan, operating on a SEAL, saving his leg!CONTINUED…
@Levin @Still-alive 2 of 2My dad, on the other hand, invented something that makes digital movie cameras work better! He also invented the code that makes CGI look more realistic! Now he works for Disney. So he knows a lot of really famous people. He travels all over the world… It’s like, not as important as being a surgeon, but is a HELL of a lot more glamorous and more fun! But It can just be really intimidating trying to live up to either of them! But my dad, absolutely does NOT believe that my older brother should get to do stuff that I can’t do… OR be treated differently just because he’s got a penis! My mom DOES! She absolutely used to say “It’s different, he's a boy” or “That’s not the same, she’s a girl”! So my bad-ass “G. I. Jane” type mom, wanted to treat me and my brother differently, but my “Movie making” dad, never thought like that, EVER! Also, my friends would all go on and on about my dad “oh my god he's SO cute, he’s so sexy, omg, that accent… “ shit like that, so I doubt I would have heard that if he was American! I hope this answers your question? Thanks for asking! It’s unbelievable, that NOBODY has ever asked that before! And its really not something I ever really thought about until you asked me! But yeah, American and British parenting skills and attitudes,,, VERY DIFFERENT!
I wasn't fighting lol
Oh well, first thoughtful question I've asked :) Part of what you describe seems to be the American hang ups with sex. I know a lot of teens have sex in the US, but there also seems to be a religious, puritanical, even hypocritical aspect to sexuality in the US. It's all about appearances. If there's a nipslip or someone says 'cunt', you would just die in America! But a school shooting or two doesn't seem to ruffle any feathers! And yeah, my British accent unfortunately doesn't have any power in the UK :(You probably find the accent a bit odd and non-sexual as you associate it with your dad?
@Levin Okay, first I have to disagree with your assertion that school shootings don’t “ruffle any feathers”. I was in 10th grade when the MSD High school shooting occurred in Parkland, Fl. It might have been 180miles away from me, but it was a National tragedy! Florida immediately raised the age to own a rifle from 18 to 21 (like handguns). It spurred a National debate on guns and gun control and the hashtag #MSDSTRONG became a trending topic for many months after. There were multiple town hall style meetings that were televised in its wake, including one between the families of the deceased, the survivors, the Sheriff of Broward County, and the NRA spokeswoman, moderated by CNN’s Anderson Cooper. Gun violence is always taken very seriously, especially in a country where owning a firearm is a Human Right. But please let’s not turn a fantastic question about my life growing up with different nationality parents into a discussion on guns. I merely wanted to correct your assertion that school shootings are essentially no big deal. As for British accents: well there are just so many accents in the UK that it’s really difficult to discuss “THE British accent”, but I do not think English accents are odd, neither do I think it odd that you or anyone else has a British accent. You are correct that I do not find British accents sexy, but I do find some foreign accents sexy so I understand why other’s do! As for sexual hang-ups: No, my parents definitely do not have sexual hang ups, insomuch as either are sexually repressed. My father is C of E, my mother a non-religious Jew. I was raised in both the Christian and Jewish faiths. Both faiths were observed in our home growing up and we alternated one weekend a month we went to church and one weekend we went to Temple.
@Levin I was allowed to make my own decision. I chose “d) None of the above”. As far as sexual repression: My mother bought me both my first and my second sex toys, and when I was ready to become sexually active, my mom was the person I went to for advice, and because Mike turned out to be too big to fit inside me, it was my mother I went to, and she got me in with my gynecologist who recommended vaginal dilators, and my mom who got them for me. Although I broke-up with that boyfriend a week later as I discovered he had cheated, my mom always supported me. She was thrilled to meet my second boyfriend Lee, and when I became sexually active with Lee some 9 months later, he was always welcomed into our home with open arms and often stayed the night with no “sneaking around” required. For my mom, she was over protective (I believe) because I was raped at age 13 (actually ON my 13th birthday). She was afraid that something like that might happen again. Overall she’s really is pretty cool, and I would never want to trade her for any of my friend’s mother’s who despite their many faults, are just not sexually repressed like you describe. True all of my girlfriends dads would likely kill any boy they discovered fucking their daughters, but I’m sure the same is true in the UK. My dads favorite word is “fuck”, unless he’s discussing someone he does not like, then :cunt” would be thrown around quite liberally! Many of the boys I brought home to meet my parents would me described as “dozy cunt” or wanker, by my dad. Ie “Please tell me you are not dating that dozy cunt, he’s such a wanker, you can do SO much better than that smeg - ‘ed”
As you wish love ❤️
probably sounds sexier from you tho hmmm ;)
Don't think I've every called someone "love"🤣 it sounds common. Definitely said "alright babe" though
ill take either from you lol
And DARLING TOO. lol!!! xxoo
Yes darling! Lol
South East England.
@goadedHuh, that's odd. I've always assumed it was an Aussie thing.
That too, but I guess there were a lot of "crims" in London, back in the day!
Never said it to anyone, had to think there lol.
Yes :) That is true.
I cringe when someone online (usually Indian) calls me "dear." Gag, four fingers in the mouth, barf. So grandmotherly. Ick.
Ok dear.Oh wait :o
What about 'sweetheart'? 😂 I major cringe when I hear some dude pull that one out of his bag.
@spartan55. I refer to a lot of people by "sweetie" or "darlin." But as with a lot of things, it all depends on the person saying it, the context, and the situation.
'Darlin' is okay to use if you are a: Texas cattle rancher over the age of 55, OR a truck stop waitress.'Sweetie' I don't mind if it's like a one time thing or in passing. But I used to work with this woman who used it as her pronoun of choice constantly. She drove me nuts. Now, if I know the woman fairly well, that's cool. Also cool if my significant other says it if I, in fact, do something kind or whatever. I'm not a sweet guy by default, if that makes sense.
@spartan55 It makes sense. Moderation is importance. A little goes a long way.
Less is more... yep.
Im pretty sure you called me that once or twice love ❤️ :p
More than likely treacle
Al reet pet

@karaspara yeah Steve Bruce is shitting bricks with them ‘getting rid of him’In a brief statement to the press this morning, Amanda Stavely, co-owner of Newcastle United, stated that Steve Bruce's position in the club would be sorted out when he meets Mohammad bin Salman at the Saudi Consulate in London in the next day or two
