That's interesting. My grandparents told me a long while ago that in UK, they used to play the national anthem at the close of the days tv and at the end of a movie at the cinema. In some ways, I have to agree with you. Anthems these days are rather pointless.
Customs do, and should, evolve.

Oppressed , that’s fucking funny, people of all colors and creeds are spoiled in America, if they were oppressed they’d have been shot the first time they knelt for the flag.
Nobody in America is oppressed, shit, there’s 84 different kinds of peanut butter in the grocery store….
Exactly. No one here is oppressed and many are spoiled. I’ve been all around the world. I’ve see real oppression. I’ve seen true poverty. We don’t have that in America. You’re so hitting the nail on the head brother and this is exactly why I’ve become hostile towards not only blacks that support this logic but whites also. Been listening to this same crap for about 4-6 years now and I’m done. Oppression is a 5 year old getting his head lopped off by ISIS for being a Christian not getting killed while actively resisting lawful police commands in America. These people have the nerve to call themselves oppressed…meanwhile there are generations of people who have literally made a small city in a trash dump in the Philippines and live in it. Oppression is being so poor you have to build a church to attend in a landfill.
What’s so funny too is a lot of the black people I work with are from Africa and English is their second language: They think American blacks are full of crap and don’t like them.
On the “ verge” of being racist? That’s in your face racism not on the verge
@rcljr Probably true. Just trying to put my thoughts out for discussion.
The black national anthem should be an old song from back in the day called “ Cotton Needs Pickin”
