Question about Scientific Advancement v. Bodily Rights?

SamA_nold
So there was a recent medical advancement made in Huntsville, Alabama that has quite an ethical dilemma about it.

A man was medically brain dead, but his family decided to keep him alive and allow scientists to implant pig kidneys into him to test for their success In transplantation. After the transplant was successful, they removed him from the lines keeping him alive and let him die.

What are your opinions on this? The man may have been brain dead, but was it right for the family to make the decision to allow scientists to use his body for experimentation?
