Insanity doesn't come from suppressing desires. Or else every guy would be a rapist. So that argument is a fallacy. Defying your own morals, may contribute to insanity. But it is not likely for a gay man to be morally opposed to homosexuality. Also, morals can be defined as anything to anyone. So simply put, such a cause for insanity could be hitting a girl out of rage, yelling too harshly at a kid, having sex before marriage, giving head, etc..
All of which, can lead to one being disgusted with themselves.. and thereby lead to insanity. To pin insanity due to the breaking of personal morals, to just religion alone, is a impossible statement to support. Simply because, everyone has morals. Not just religious people.Otherwise, you would have to admit, those without out religion, such as yourself, have no morals. And therefor, are not affected/disturbed when defying their morals. However, I doubt you would plead this cause.
Okay, out of the hundreds of examples I could choose from, look at Ted Haggard. seriously, go look him up
Also, I didn't say ALL insanity comes from suppressing desires. and there are different levels of want, eventually reaching obsessive. my argument isn't a "fallacy," yours is just based on misunderstood generalizations. finally, morality is subjective
Morality IS subjective. That is exactly why you can't say Christianity causes insanity. You can say breaking morals cause insanity. But Christianity does not equate to morality. Religion does not = morality. You can be just as morally opposed to being gay as a Hindu, Atheist or Buddhist. So regardless of religion, if you are morally opposed to homosexuality, and then you engage in homosexual activities.. you are just as likely to go insane.
Dude, I didn't say there's a 100 percent chance that christianity will invariably cause you to go insane, but it totally can, due to something you really want to do being generally hated by everyone else who shares your beliefs. sure, they might have already been crazy due to some kind of brain deformation, but if abuse from your parents can make you insane, so can christianity. the same goes for other religions. except maybe the asian ones that promote inner peace.
If god does not understand people for their diversity and difference in cultures, then he is not god.your argument is the exact reason why people should be athiest
Athiesm is the belief that there is no God. It doesn't answer how the universe came to be.Basically you're saying, I don't know the answer, but I know Christians are wrong. But no answer isn't the answer (and thus is automatically a wrong answer), so you're wrong too, if you're saying rather than be Christian be an Atheist. On another note, if matter can not be created nor destroyed.. then matter must have existed for eternity.. and yet I bet you ask Christians how can God always have been?
All scientific theories, have scientific flaws. Hence the reason they're not scientific laws, they're just theories. And thus we must conclude that there is no scientific answer for how the Earth, as well as human existence, came to be.You can't logically believe all science is true, cause it states that matter can not be created nor destroyed. Which means it's existed for eternity. However, a timeline has to have a starting point. Time can't flow into both the past in future.
Science also states that you never actually touch anything.. there are always particle in between.. and yet even the highest powered microscope can't see in between my two touching fingers..Also through quantum tunneling it is stated that is actually possible to phase through a wall, like a ghost.Science is more unrealistic than magic. Simply because it can't explain itself a lot of the times.Magic is considered as anything unexplainable by science and therefore you have to admit it exists
At least we know when the universe came to be, and admit that we don't know any solid reason before the big bang, instead of just going ahead and making something up and saying that's that. also, theories have been extensively tested, you're thinking of hypothesis. science isn't magic for that reason. also religion has no theories, just a bunch of vague ideas
You don't know when the universe came to be. Way to lie in your first sentence. The big bang didn't exist. You obviously don't know the "science" behind the big bang. Because scientifically speaking, it's impossible. Newtons laws of motion state that a object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by a separate force. In space there is no friction. Therefor the "original" matter after the big bang would continue to disperse for eternity. It would never condense to make planets.
DemBones, I'm sorry but you're comment was unintelligent and lacked any supporting logic. Please, if you are going to say someone is wrong, bring some proof. It's sad that you say I'm wrong, and yet you believe in the big bang, which is a theory that is scientifically flawed. And impossible under scientific law. You follow your science teachers words, blindly. Unlike you, I've done my research. It is you who has the vague ideas. My ideas are concrete and thoroughly thought out.
Why do religious people always demand proof when you're perfectly content in your bizarre "god did it" explanation? ever hear of background radiation measurements? they give the cooling period since the big bang. This model is well understood theoretically and strongly supported by recent high-precision astronomical observations such as WMAP. eat it, lord pompous. keep spouting that "god" mumbo jumbo and trying to act all smart
LOL!!!You just copy pasted that from wiki's article on the Age of the Universe!! HAHAHA!! Oh geeze.. really? whose "acting" smart here?I don't believe you even understand the concept of the Big Bang. Do you understand what dark energy and dark matter is? They have never been observed, EVER, in science, and yet they are the fundamental backbones of the Big Bang theory. Educate yourself. Please. https://www.rense.com/general53/bbng.htmI encourage you to look up other sources as well.
Didn't copy paste it, I read it. if you want copy and paste from wikipedia, here you go. Dark energy is invisible to the human eye; however, it can be tracked with difficulty by gamma-ray astronomy. and here's another one The simplest explanation for dark energy is that it is simply the "cost of having space" science is constantly changing and evolving.new observations mean new theories, and this isn't science class, it's a religious discussion. make some proof for god, why don't you
I answered you yesterday.. but for some reason I don't see my comment.. I guess I'll answer again. My proof of god is simple. Scientific law says matter can not be created nor destroyed. This means matter must have always existed. And that defies the human concept of time, because how does time go infinitely into the future and the past? Therefore that matter is a higher power to humans. And it's my belief that higher power is God- and is responsible for the creation of the universe.
I do not believe in an omniscient or omnipotent God. I find the Bible to be a great piece of literature, whether true or false. For it defines a set of morals, that if the world followed completely and correctly, would dictate a better standard of living for us all. However, because there is multiple religions, and lack of religions, this causes conflicts-- these conflicts are irrelevant to Christianity- because they exist not because of religion but rather because of disagreement.
