The 100 push up a day challenge - is it better to do 100 each day for 30 days... or do 100 1 day on 1 day off?

I'll do 120 sit ups on the days off, on my second day of the 100 push ups and its fucking killing me - not only that, how can i grow if its every day no break! please advise your opinion, it just seems dumb to do 100 every day if you struggle on the first day - and the next day is just sore. If you don't know what your talking about then kindly don't bother.
