I used to love white for building up a huge amount of life points as protection, but it doesn't work so well with newer editions. I always hated red, I feel like what little tactics this colour offers are for trolls. And green seems amazing but has lots of weaknesses easily exploitable by experienced players.
Lifegain stopped being viable for a while except in select block formats. Green is good in modern. It's rarely good in standard. Red has some aggro strats. It's used to have splinter twin that did some damage to the modern format. In EDH, green has all the good artifact and enchantment removal, Protean Hulk, and tooth and nail, as well as some decent tutors and draw power. Red is best as a support color in EDH. White hasn't really done well ever. They have great removal, and token potential, but they lack in draw. All colors are fun, but I like dropping my crater hoof on people, taking extra combats with zergo helmsmasher, or comboing off with thrasios
