Also martial arts like judo, boxing, karate or wrestling in their sports forms can be detrimental to your ability to defend yourself if you've been training to score points rather than defend yourself from a real attack. I knew a few top amateur boxers who had trouble in real life situations against guys they should have beat easily on the street but its different without the gloves, the headgear, the bell, mouth guard, referee and rules. there's no points in a street fight. Same with Judo guys who trained Olympic style or BJJ who train for competition only. I've seen black belt karate guys get knocked out because a guy who boxed was able to dance around landing jabs and big hooks working different angles in and out.Muay thai as a stand up martial art seems to have the best record of stand up martial arts vs matches. It's usually the case in stand up mixed martial arts matches for the muay thai guy to win over karate, taekwondo, kickboxing, savage, boxing, sambo etc. Burmese boxing is something to look into unlike muay thai it allows head butts and they dont wear gloves. Thd rules on martial arts competitions often make competitions safer, more competitive and more civilised but they take away a lot of hard learned lessons from the martial art itself.https://youtu.be/-xrT80GUDHU
Sambo is actually a kind of Mma Russian army. Yes, wrestling techniques are more and more effective. Krav maga is also the defense art of the Israeli army. both are effective. The streets are different and not like the rings.
I'm not sure how effective krav maga actually is
The streets are different but applying a martial arts to a street situation without any real sparing practice can be dangerous because you may have learned a technique that does not work in the real world or outside the dojo. https://youtu.be/Y9YdSFS8Ejc
Of course If you wanna fight you definetely need sparring practice
