i know. snowden talked about this issue long ago. but i thought corona was a good reason to raise awareness for this again.
It's another 'who watches the watchers' scenario. For public health reasons it's entirely likely we WILL want to use electronic contact tracing, which ideally would be fairly automated, as it is in SK. The issue is how much privacy is given up and to whom and for what purposes. knee jerk 'no data' is dumb, but so is 'give government everything'. Actual care, actual nuanced decisions are required. Most of us believe the police should be able to obtain a wiretap with a warrant, most of us probably do not believe the police should have unlimited surveillance. It's like that with coronavirus the laws will give too much power initially, they will need to be tightened up, but it becomes complicated and voters lose interest.
yeah it is a pretty good legitimation for privacy violations. they constantly use horrible crime to legitimate taking away our privacy, which i find pretty unfair.
do you trust that your phone doesn't communicate with cell towers when it's off? i mean i don't know. maybe it doesn't. but do you know it doesn't?
i mean after all, you can't take the battery out to make sure right?
I’m not a 100% but I could always wrap in aluminum foil I guess since I cannot take the battery out or just leave it home
lol i'm gonna experiment with that :D
Or a potato chip bag like she did on the last Terminator movie 😊
yeah that's interesting. i'll test if that will actually mess with my reception. thanks for yout input :)

i would say that was the case before they were too busy hiding at home, wearing face masks and desinfecting the entire place every 5 minutes xD
