Machines built for gaming don't really make optimal video editing platforms, and vice versa. Video editing is what we call "compute bound" whereas gaming is what I would personally call "vector bound" (not an industry term). This means that video editing primarily makes use of the CPU whereas gaming primarily makes use of the GPU.

That's not to say video editing doesn't use the GPU - there are some features of modern GPUs that can come in quite handy for video editing. And vice versa. Obviously games use the CPU. Just not nearly as much as the GPU.

So if you're building a machine for video editing, you want:
- as many CPU cores as you can get, at a high clock rate
- gobs of RAM
- lots of really fast disk

What you don't need for a video editing rig is a particularly fast GPU. If you throw a high end GPU in, it won't hurt anything but it'll be a waste of money.

I personally don't think liquid cooling is worth the hassle for workstations. It's just a cool thing people like to play with but doesn't really improve real world outcomes that much.

Video editing is also an "I/O bound" operation, in that it makes heavy use of both the primary and secondary storage systems of the machine. That means it uses tons of RAM and tons of disk, all the time. If you lack either, you'll have noticeable performance degradation. So get lots of memory and lots of disk. Also, make sure your memory and disk are as fast as possible. That means DDR4 memory at least, and SSDs for your disk, maybe NVMe or Optane.

The Mac is mostly just an expensive paperweight, unless you're going to use the specific software made for it.

Buy a real workstation PC, if you have real work to do. Long term it'll be more productive for you, plus you can always Virtual Machine a Mac on a Windows PC if you really need to use a Mac program but don't want to give in to Apple communism.

Bottom line, software develops faster than computers. So don’t throw all your dough into a fancy computer. Get nice specs in a crappy shell. I found a dealer on Amazon that sells cheaper high grade laptops. Nvidia 5060, 32 gb ram, etc. Works great, looks like crap.
