I plan on setting up a firewall before i start this project.
Very good.My husband is a professional in that, and even we have had a lot of problems getting all our devices working properly when we switched to internet TV. It came with its own firewall, but we had our own. Was quite a networking headache. His networks are complex, but we are protected.Heard too many stories about Alexa ordering bizarre things off Amazon and they get delivered. Even kids can order themselves gifts. "Giant banana" $300 or something. Definitely not a good idea if kids around.
We love our nest!
good to know. I would have to set up a firewall I think before I start thinking about this. My smoke alarms are starting to die and one of my thermostats is right behind them.
It’s nice to be able to operate them from anywhere.
I don't have a smartphone, remember?
You’re fixing to change that
Yeah, maybe, but i called Verizon and the plan I have for 200 minutes for $111 is being replaced for 20 minutes a month for 5 bucks. Still I might go with the smart phone. It might be time?
It’s definitely time
Once I am able to drive again I guess I will start looking around for a new phone.
I am making a list with all the things I am going to do once I'm cleared.
Sounds like a bucket list 🤔
No but I'm making one of those too.
esit, keep in mind cell phone contracts are dying (yay), and phone rates are negotiable. It's horrific, some of the pricing. But if you drive a hard bargain, you can at least get some good introductory rates for a while.I threatened to leave to a competitor, and got unlimited data eventually.

It would be nice to turn the heat down during the day and crank it up a half hour before I get home. I currently have the digital thermostats that are programmed but sometimes it is not optimal.
Resistance is futile
It's not lazy unless you turn the lights on from your phone but to use the switch you just have to stretch a little
@Wiredone Yeah, I installed track lighting in my vacation home and i bought a wireless unit so I wouldn't have to snake a wire. It makes me feel lazy,.
Track lighting is so 1980's. I'm pulling them out on almost every lighting job. I use Caseta switches a lot. It saves the customer money and me time. I sell them for a premium dollar though
@Wiredone I just looked at those and they are definitely an option. I was looking for a retro look for hundred year old summer cottage.
They still have retro switches but not wireless.
Your phone is dumb?
No possessed, smart...
I think that my stove is possessed..
So it doesn't things that you don't even know about
@Wiredone No, it goes crazy at the worst time. The error says one of the potentiometers are bad. I guess when it overheats the circuit expands and opens the circuit. When it cools it makes the contact again. When I get better I have to go buy the part.
Stove possesdWe need to open a shop with all these possessed things
I'll run the shop. I'm possessed. I got voices in my head saying " go go go don't stop".
@Wiredone is it similar to thishttps://images.app.goo.gl/f8fHXpLP9QznNtzMAOr this https://images.app.goo.gl/7Ss2i7jQ1F1Smp917
Definitely the last one. The first one is funny though
You’re fucked when the power goes out on dumb appliances too
