Anonymity is one of the rights we all have in America. There may be any mime of legitimate reasons to remain anonymous, not the least of which is retribution from others. The hacktavist group, Anonymous, was formed to protest the Church of Scientology, and they wore masks to avoid the CoS from coming after the members, something the "church" is notorious for. I fully support the efforts of Anonymous because they are often the only ones willing to stand against the abuse of authority and speak truth to power.
@Woodlandgnome it's alright to wear masks when protesting, but as soon as you start becoming violent, you become a criminal. Nearly every city and state in the US has some laws against wearing face masks while in large groups.
And therein lies the road to fascism and dictatorship. Some states were considering banning protests all together, but that would bring a whole shitstorm of civil rights and Constitutional lawsuits. Hell, even der Führer, Donald Trump, is going for ways to eliminate pays off the First Amendment so he can sue anyone who speaks bad about him. That was one of the first things that happened in Germany in the early 1930s. As for me, I say, "Not here! Not in my country! Not on my watch!"
@Woodlandgnome remember what Winston Churchill said :" the fascists of the future will claim they aren't fascists."
Benito Mussolini and Francisco Franco had no problem calling themselves fascists. As it is, Trump is close to meeting the 14 characteristics of a fascist. www.alternet.org/.../trump-eerily-perfect-match-famous-14-point-guide-identify-fascist-leaders
@Woodlandgnome I'm talking about you and the "antifa" or the anti first amendment. You guys are idiots for calling people fascists when you idiots are he fascists and don't even realize it. Take a look at the May Day riot, the Berkeley Riot (s). If anything you guys should be a domestic terrorist group.
I don't think you understand. I am NOT against the First Amendment. In fact, I'm a librarian by profession, and defending the First Amendment is part of not only my job, it's part of who I am. by the way, protesting against the government does NOT make you unpatriotic. In fact, in my opinion, it makes one more patriotic because doing so helps keep the government in check.
@Woodlandgnome no but shutting down other people's thoughts and ideas because a person doesn't like it is text book fascism
Not necessarily. 1.bp.blogspot.com/.../fascism-50-728.jpghttps://rense.com/general37/char.htmAnd for the record, I am just as appalled, if not more so, at what happened at Berkeley. Most of the protestors were not associated with the university. In fact, I would not be at all surprised if some of those protestors, including those in Portland, were in fact false flags intent on inciting riots.
@Woodlandgnome no they were univeristy students. Police didn't do anything as the mayor of Berkeley told the police to not do anything.
@Woodlandgnome plus Trump can't do jack shit anyways. Even with executive orders, the Supreme Court is going to rule them unconstitutional. It's it like Venezuela
www.rollingstone.com/.../berkeley-riots-inside-the-campus-showdown-over-free-speech-w465151FTA: "Although it's difficult to determine the affiliations of the more militant protesters – who used the "black bloc" tactic of wearing all black and masking their faces, in order to avoid police recognition and appear as a cohesive group – they have been depicted as being from out of town and unrelated to the UC Berkeley community."Also, I do NOT support the Black-Bloc or their tactics. I am very selective admit who and what groups I support. Anonymous? Yes. Black-Bloc? NO! There are even some environmental groups I will never support because of their tactics. I do not support violent protests. I am an strong believer and supporter of Civil Disobedience. As Evelyn Beatrice Hall said, "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
@Woodlandgnome ahh yes because Rolling Stones is a reputable news source (sarc). No they were college students and professors who hate free speech

Sabrina Reich. She called the group “black bloc anarchists,” a term used to describe the militant tactics, black dress, masked faces and aggressive actions of a particular sect of political activists."
Shall I continue?
@Woodlandgnome These people in the masks are nothing more than savage thugs. It it sounds like to me you are defending.
And the reason I posted so many links is to core my sources to cite my argument. You, on the other hand, did not cite one. That makes your argument appear to be no more than heresay at best, or opinion at worse.
I do not, never have nor ever will, support black-bloc tactics. I've stated that repeatedly.
@Woodlandgnome again I'm going on what I see in the news, Rolling Stones isn't reputable, and they are downright fake news. It's not my fault your Antifa and get pissed off with others opinions. I believe we are done here because it will just keep on going.
There is no excuse for people to destroy other people's property
it's not an excuse. there's reasons why people act radical. they chose a purpose in life at the moment to disrupt the system.
Well their "purpose" is criminal. They belong in jail.
That is sad..
@JustRollTheDice. Does it happen in your near by place?

Awww, I got three thumbs down. Must all be from Trumpets.
I'm not sure if I completely agree with you, but mad props for being able to back your beliefs.
@Dango123 Thank you, good sir. =\:-})~
I want to make it cleat that I do NOT support violent protests, not do I support the Black-bloc tactics. I am a very strong and vocal supporter of the First Ammendment, as both a librarian and as an individual. I believe in Civil Disobedience and that violent protests do more harm than good. I also believe that violent protests are the tactics of the weak. However, I do support the individual's right to self-defense, and believe that violence is the option of the absolute LAST resort and even then only directed at those who seek to steal our freedoms, or those who seek to usurp our democracy.
If you are a liberal... you are not a fan of the first amendment. Also I have to work with a union. They are like that anymore. These rioters deserved to be shot.
@Rissyanne What the fuck are you talking about, "not a fan of the first amendment"? Where's your proof? Cite your sources.
@Rissyanne If you "work with a union", than tell me which union and union hall number?
Well I am not going to post a ton of links like you do. If you will look at Berkeley... that was liberals that stopped two conservatives speak. And you can sit there and say you were against it... but at the heart you are a liberal. And liberals get violent when you disagree with them.
I am not in the union I work with the union. 708 and they take the workers money and do nothing for them.
@Rissyanne You don't know me, nor do you know anything about me, so who the hell are you to judge me? I AM, appalled at what happened in Berkeley. Milo Pedophile-Fuckface was the right to speak, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to or agree with him. THERE'S the difference. And you didn't tell me which union, all you gave me was the union hall number. So which union is it? UAW? UFW? AFL-CIO? IWW? ASFME? Teamsters? NFL Player's Union? IBEW?
I dont know you? you have written a book on this post. I work for an aerospace company. And if you dont want to hear someone... DONT GO. No one forces you to listen to a conservative speaker.
Oh please don't put the blame on anyone else. These savages need to put in prison.
Savages?😂 A peaceful protest doesn't turn violent for no reason. Maybe one of the marchers got in a dispute with one of the cops and things escalated from there? I don't know. I won't know unless I have some more information about this riot.
Yes savages do you think the "protesters" wearing black masks were peaceful in the beginning? No there is no reason on earth to destroy someone else's property and block traffic. Stop defending these idiots
You sound like an angry old woman. I'll pray for you.🙏
Just like a liberal... name calling and insulting. But I guess I can feel a little sorry for you. Your criminal Hillary didn't win. lol
I don't know why you defent Trump. he raped a few girls but he is the richer one so It's ok? he never paid taxes? isn't this crime?
@Seppelson I think you are pretty much insane. He never raped girls. He paid taxes. Get some help.
What is wrong with you? I grew up poor. And I didn't go out and tear shit up. So you think it is ok to tear up other people's personal property? Are you really that ignorant? These are not poor people. They can afford their black masks. Why aren't they working? They need to be thrown in prison. Think for a second for the people their selfish ignorant actions are hurting. Think about those business owners that now has to repair their property thanks to these animals... yes animals.
They aren't tearing shit up because of workers. They are doing this because they are savage animals. Now I am not talking about protesters. I am talking about the idiots in the black masks destroying private property. They deserve to be in prison. And if you support them... you aren't much better.
Since you feel the violent protesters damaging and looting local businesses while breaking laws, hence raising prices to pay for the damage, you must be an idiot! I will pray that they make it to your house, scare the shit out of your family and cost you a fortune to to repair the law breaking carnage to your home. Gee, I have to imagine you might feel differently. Lastly, what the hell does labor have to do with these whiny, crybaby wimps. 24 years old and you think you know whats best for our country? Don't speak unless you know what the hell you are talking about.
Probably most of them dont work.
I know it's not but property being destroyed is kinda a South African way to protest or toi-toi as it is called here
Can you believe this people defending this shit?
It's like the LA riots or the ones in Missouri. They are so fucking stupid they say its a demonstration but they set fire and loot businesses IN THEIR OWN NEIGHBORHOODS! If you're going to rebel against your supposed oppressors you don't destroy your own turf. They're fucking morons
They did arrest a lot of them.
