The Christian baker didn't support gay marraige so didn't offer the service of gay weddening cakes.
I addressed that already in what I already typed
I think there would be massive problems if they did that. Maybe just say they are booked up.
Nope... that makes no sense... it's lying... Isn't that a problem for such devout Christians as well?I would've thought it would be.
In the early days of Christianity Christians had to lie to avoid persecution and being fed to the lions.
I'm a Christian yet I don't discriminate or hate people for being different... That's what religion should ACTUALLY be about...
They are no discriminating, they just don't believe in gay marriage and feel that baking a weddening cake for a gay couple is supporting that.
@jacquesvol Haha Exactly my thoughts...
funny how they literally didn't have the right though as ruled by the supreme court

last one is probably bullshit
@Josht13 Probably. But at least the comparison would make sense.
It's their business and they should have the right to deal with whomever they choose. Sure, their loss for they diminish their customer pool, but it still should be their own choice. If you owned a business and that ex you hate one day came in and demanded you serve him with whatever it is that you sell, would you?
@ThisDudeHere Yes.Would you be OK with a business refusing to serve you on the basis of your skin colour?
He’s white so it wouldn’t ever happen to him.
@Astoriana I tried to get dreadlocks in an African American barbers but they refused service. It was their right to do so.
Because you can only get dreadlocks in black hair. You literally cannot put dreadlocks in any other type of hair without loads of shitty chemicals that they wouldn’t stock.
@Astoriana I also tried to visit fire island but because I'm straight I was barred. My local women's gym only won't let me join. I tried to get my son on an all female basket ball team but he was refused.
Fire Island? Lol ok. You’re the worst troll ever.
@Astoriana so discrimination is ok as long as It's against men, hetrosexuals or whites?
It’s not discrimination to have services for people who aren’t you. Also, you don’t have to be gay to go to Fire Island. Don’t be stupid. It’s unattractive, and you’re going to need all the help you can get with your absolutely piss poor attitude.
@Astoriana I just believe in equality for all.
Which apparently means that you can only be a straight, white male Christian.
@Astoriana You can't call someone out as a troll, then continue to argue with them.
I actually find his incompetence as a troll hilarious.
I would not be okay with it but it's their loss as they lose a customer. I would just go to someone else.
@Astoriana shouldn't gay bakers be allowed to refuse to bake cakes for homophobes?
One can refuse a customer for being a threat to one’s life or livelihood. There’s nothing but ignorance and prejudice that prevents a bigoted Christian from baking a cake for a gay wedding.
@Astoriana and is it not ignorance and prejudice to punish someone for their religious beliefs?
How is making money in any way, shape or form a punishment? They’re getting something out of the transaction.
@Astoriana would you force Muslims to make bacon?
Pretty sure Muslim line cooks exist. They can cook it. They just can’t eat it.
@Astoriana not sure they can even touch it
Just like Christians can’t wear mixed fabrics or eat seafood?
@Astoriana your thinking of Jews.
Christians and Jews have a common holy text 🙂
@Astoriana as do the Muslims so why be Christianphobic islamaphobic and antisemitic?
So it was ok for Ellen to ban a singer based on her personal beliefs but wrong for a Christian baker not to bake a cake based on his?
Ellen banned the singer for speaking publicly about homosexuality being wrong. The baker denied service to a couple for being homosexual. The only way these two things are equivalent is if the baker denied service to the gay couple for having verbally attacked Christians, which they did not do.So no, it’s not wrong because these are two different things.
If you want to put it another way, it would be wrong for a white baker to refuse service to a black man for being black. But it wouldn’t be wrong to deny service to a black man who had just publicly campaigned against white people. See the difference?
So force them to go against their beliefs and conscious? They won't bake weddening cakes for lesbians either.
What is a “weddening”?
If they haven't changed their views on gay marraige but are being forced to bake the cake... what is stopping them from spitting in it? Why would you want someone who could jack off in your cake mix, or something else gross? Just get a gay-positive baker, leave the bigots to go out of bussiness
@maximuso i mean, one doesn’t typically ask “what are your political views?” when looking for a wedding cake baker. They usually get recommendations from friends. And... why would anyone do that? You could get shut down permanently for that shit.
You can't force someone to work. The gay couple should just look for another baker who is willing to bake them a cake. Just like if I don't want to do an install for someone, they will have to call someone else who wants to do it. It's the same concept, you can't coerce people into doing things they do not want to do. It is against the concept of freedom.
True, but when you run into a roadblock like that, there's a point when you ask if you really want to give these people your business, and include them in your special day?People can be spiteful buggers, and they could just make it taste really bad. Like, mess up the order, onion cake, or something. I wouldn't trust someone who is against my right to marry
Actually yes there is. I'm Christian and I have gay friends and people of multiple religions but I'm told I can't bring my Bible with me while Muslims can take the Koran into schools and do prayer in front of everyone. A lot of public people diss on people of the Christian faith all the time and refuse them in thier businesses because they see them as haters even though they do the exact thing. It's now almost a crime to be a white man, and if your Christian, you'll be likely to get a lot of people telling you how wrong you and your religion is even though a true Christian doesn't judge others, just respects them for thier differences. We should be hating hypocrites, not people of religion.
@maximuso And that is your freedom of choice on the consumer side of things. We have the right to buy, sell, work, or not work for whoever we want to. There was one black person who was racist and didn't want me in his home, and honestly it was the first time in years of construction type work where I came across this. If he doesn't want me in his house, then I'm not going to insist on going in there. Fuck him, and he can go without a repair until they find him an available black technician. Why would a gay couple persistently want someone who doesn't agree with what they are doing to work for them, is beyond me. They are stupid for not looking for another baker. I think they are just looking for attention, or for money. They know those with serious religious convictions can not condone their wedding, so they are targeting them looking for easy fame and money.
@RegularTK421 probably in a place where there are no other options. Like Bumfuck Nebraska. Or Bumfuck Alabama. Same difference. Tiny ass towns where no one really goes unless they’re too poor to leave.
I come from a Bumfuck town. Its conservative and aging, but also hosts Broken Heel, an event celebrating Crossdressers in the vein of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Everyone is having a war on someone else, people always want a Target and they will generally target those of complete opposite convictions. Has the baker ever been vocal about hating gay people or did he just refuse stating his personal beliefs? That's not disrespectful, it's his right as an individual, his business is an extension of him and it's not like he owns a chain. So yes there is a war going on here but it's a one sided war on a Christian being told he can't stand to his own convictions in his own life. It would be smart for him financially to do this but it's honestly up to him whether he let's someone enter his personal life whether for business or social, and to tell him he can't is like telling a gay guy he has to do at least 3 straight pornos to finish or he has to pay 100k
@lastchancemotel no there isn’t. Only brain damaged inbred idiots think so.
Notice I being actual psychology of humans woke you to top dehumanize me. Your staying warm right now on purpose and not willing to listen to evidence, so I'd say your the one brain dead. How bout the fact that I was not allowed to pray in school or even have my Bible but the Muslims we're allowed to pray and read thier books and even hold an after school group. Atheists constantly attack Christian's as thier priority and I have to fight people to not judge me being Christian because they think I'm going to be a judgmental ass, or worse the people who actively tell me that my beliefs are a joke and I should go shoot myself or that I won't succeed because I'm just a "religious fool." Don't tell me there isn't something that is actively happening. Your just being blind if you chose not see what's happening in the world. Ignorance must be bliss huh?
@lastchancemotel incoherence must be bliss too because I have no idea what you’re trying to say.
Really only my first sentence got typoed. The rest is just you not being able to read.
@lastchancemotel nah, you’re just too emotional to make any sense
Read my entire posts, your the one being emotional, calling people names and dehumanizing people, not me. I've brought forth evidence of psycology, political evidence and past experience while you continue to just ignore these things and spout your trivial opinions. Truth is what matters, and you ignore it because it does not fit your own beliefs. Open your eyes, people will start wars over anything they want to, just like you are trying now.
@lastchancemotel I cannot understand your meaning. It’s all just incoherent rage. Go stroke your hate boner while watching men fuck elsewhere. I’m not interested in your obviously fake sob stories.
Didn't they start the buisness before gay marraige was legal. Forcing someone to do something against their religious beliefs or face persecution is very bigoted. Would you force a Jewish baker to make a swastika birthday cake?
It doesn't matter if gay marriage was legal or not. The city and state say you cannot discriminate against people because of their sexual orientation.
And the UN human rights charter guarantees freedom of religion
Once again. If they wanted to practitioners of The Church of Bigotology then they should have started their business in a state where it was legal to be a homophobic business owner
It's not legal to be Christianphobic either.
they can practice Christianity. They can't practice Bigotology
And would you be bigotted in this way towards Muslims who do the same?
If they were muslims discriminating against gay people in a state where it's illegal discriminate against people based on sexual orientation I would say the same thing. If you want to be a bigot pick a state where it's legal.
So you'd infringe on their human rights which would be islamaphobic
Bro. I already told you what to do.
Why target Mormons? They were massive supporters of the civil rights movement, a bit bigotted.
Because they were one of the main reasons why this became illegal in the first place. Its not the first time this type of dispute has reached the courts.
are you ok with blacks being refused service?
This guy isn't a freaking slave. If you haven't paid, he doesn't have to do anything and he doesn't even have to give a reason.
@Josht13 are you ok with whites being refused service?
True but gay marraige is offensive to many Christians
Freedom of religion is in the constitution it's also in the UN human rights declaration 1948
By far the best answer here.
@Cursewords most secterian answer
Mean while liberals are crying over statues and pronouns.
It's more about personal religious beliefs. Would you force a jew to make a swastika birthday cake or a Palestinian a star of David cake?
A swastika became a symbol of genocide. A Palestinian star wouldn't be such a problem
A Palestinian star hasn't much to do with religious beliefs, all with politics
So should a restaurant owned by muslims be forced to serve pork?
@Rissyanne Nobody will expect pork there.
Well I am sure that everyone knew this bakers where Christians... including this gay couple. They knew they didn't want to make a gay wedding cake. So If I went into a muslim restaurant and order a BLT... it would be the same thing.
@Rissyanne 75-80% of Americans say they're Christians. Others don't say it.Thus no cakes for gays?
So you think there isn't a baker that would make their cake? I am sure there are liberals that would bake a cake for them. If the bakers lose this case then where will it stop. Are Christian churches be forced to marry gay couples? Where is christians religious freedom? And you know if this was muslim bakery... there wouldn't be one word about it.
@Rissyanne religious freedom to force their 3000 yr old Bible verses on others?
What's next? Stoning people who work the 7th day?
Or just killing them:www.theguardian.com/.../california-lawyer-shoot-the-gays-proposal-2016-ballot
Like I said the only reason this is an issue for you liberals is because they are Christians. If this was a muslim bakery you would stand behind the muslims... at any cost. These Christian bakers shouldn't be forced to do something against their beliefs. These gays can go to a secular baker. You are becoming an hysterical liberal. You didn't even address the question I ask about forcing christian churches into marrying gay couples.
@Rissyanne Af if there were several non Christian bakeries in a small midwest town?
Well there isn't a Burger King in the town I live in. If I want a chicken sandwich I have go somewhere else.
You liberals won't be happy till all the white christians are dead.
@Rissyanne That's you saying it. Liberals as a group won't kill white Christians for being white and Christian. I'm not so sure about what Christians did and want to do to non Christians.
A question about forcing Christian churches into marrying gay couples? I didn't see it or you had me blocked then.
I just posted on this thread an hour ago. "So you think there isn't a baker that would make their cake? I am sure there are liberals that would bake a cake for them. If the bakers lose this case then where will it stop. Are Christian churches be forced to marry gay couples? Where is christians religious freedom? And you know if this was muslim bakery... there wouldn't be one word about it."
@Rissyanne if it was a Muslim baker those two dudes would get sued for islamaphobia and racism.
@Rissyanne A muslim bakery in the middle west would have been arsoned long ago.
Not true. America is not Belgium where Muslims are hemmed into giant concrete ghettos like cattle not unlike concentration camps.
Which isn't true.
Isn't it. The Jews moved out of the ghettos and you moved the Muslims in. Muslims are poorly treated in belgium.
Source for that bull manure?
The fact is... if this was a muslim baker... you liberals wouldn't be saying a word. But it is a white Christian... which liberals hate... you want to crucify them.
@Rissyanne Liberals do NOT hate Christians. But they have a problem with fundamentalist christian extremists.
Bernie sanders made it very clear that he did not like them. And democrats never tried to get their votes.
www.bostonglobe.com/.../story.html Gheetos look the same all over the world. You talk about Christian extremism yet Molenbeek is internationally known as the Jihadi capital of Europe with links to multiple attacks all over Europe. Molenbeek is 40% Muslim and the unemployment rate is 40%. Belgian has the highest per capita of citizens fighting for ISIS.
I mean if you are counting that as persecution surely not being able to buy a cake also counts
He is selling to gays. He just doesn't offer the service of gay wedding cakes just like Jewish bakers don't make Nazi birthday cakes
I don't think that's a fair comparison a gay wedding cake can just be the standard cake with an extra male figure, are you for someone being able to say to black people we don't do black wedding cake.
Why would anyone make a Nazi birthday cake? I feel like most people would object to that... not just Jews.
@Astoriana Nazis seem to like swastikas.
So it’s discrimination against Nazis not to make a Nazi cake? Girl, you’re ridiculous.
@Astoriana actually it is discrimination against Nazis not to make their cake
Good. We should discriminate against Nazis. They’re garbage.
@Astoriana discrimination is discrimination. If you believe in tolerance you must tolerate nazis
No, I think the world was pretty clear on why Nazism was not okay. It’s founded on discrimination. To be tolerant of Nazism is to allow violent anti-semitism.
