Why do people frown upon tattoos?

I understand that it is permanent (well with today's technology it is removable but painful) but why is that anyone else's concern? Getting inked is art. Whether you are getting a tattoo bc you just turned 18, are on a girls night out, has meaning behind it, etc. it really only matters what the person getting tatted wants, no matter how big or small it is or where it is located. I also understand that sometimes it could close doors but as said, it really only matters what the person getting tatted wants. I know that my parents are not fond of tattoos so I don't talk about it. But best believe that I will be getting one, maybe more than one! It's not a rebellious thing, it's a personal decision, it has meaning. For example, I plan on getting a lighthouse tatted on me in memory of my grandfather who passed away. He has worked on barges for over 35 years and served in the Vietnam War. My grandmother who is still alive also loves them and loves all things nautical.
