Mr Richard Osborn-Brooks, 78, was arrested on suspicion of murder after he fatally stabbed a burglar - with the screwdriver the burglar used to break into his house. Two men , one armed with a screwdriver, forced their way into Mr. Brooks home , where he cared for his wife who has dementia. Mr. Brooks, was later released without charge, but is being kept under police guard over safety concerns, because Brooks has received death threats from the burglars friends and family.
Should Mr. Brooks be charged with murder, or was it the right decision to release him without charge? Why?
