I'm sorry but the US has been invading countries, overthrowing regimes, influencing elections and giving military support for decades in the intrests of us corporations. Just look at Iraq, the unfinished rebuilding of Iraq cost the US taxpayer and Iraqi people billions. Or look at the Vietnam war billions of US taxpayer money funneled in to feed the military industrial complex. How about the attempted ousting of Assad in Syria because he decided to remain loyal to Russia and refused the oil/gas pipeline that us companies wanted to build. The US may have once been the number 1 financial centre after the loot made selling arms during ww1&2 but that is ubeer threat after 70 years of mispending and military interventions.
Can you give a specific instance of the U. S. acting militarily in the interest of a corporation? Aside from that I guess I should add one more factor in America's interventionism. That being sticking it to Russia. But to be fair that usually comes immediately on the heels of Russia saying "You can't do that."
Syria & supporting rebels against Assad, invasion of Iraq. Often it's not just Russia saying you can't do that but Germany, France and China like in 2003 with the invasion of Iraq.
How was that in U. S. corporate interests? Like which corporation (s) and why? And is there a causal link or could it just be happenstance?
EXXON for starters. There's over $6billion us tax dollars missing from the the reconstruction of iraq. Also there's Halliburton Company in Iraq which received a $7 billion dollar contract for which only it was allowed to bid on in 2003 run up to the Iraq war. Dick Cheneney was once CEO & chairman of Halliburton Company , has major stock options in it and in 2004 received 398,548 in deferred compensation from Halliburton while Vice President. The company was awarded at least $39.5bn in federal contracts related to the Iraq war by 2013. That's only what Halliburton took out of the Iraq war. I'm sure you remember this company responsibility in the Deepwater Horizon explosion.
Okay? Well that's corporate cronyism for sure. People who rub shoulders with the right people taking advantage of the situation. But that's not the same thing as going to war because some corporations were like "Hey could you invade a country so we can make money?" and our gov being like "No problem. I got you fam." It's like somebody profited off war... Okay? Some one always profits off war. But it seems like your pointing to correlated things as causal. Instead of what it objectively is on the surface. Some shady side dealing shit since we were going to war any way. There will always be war profiteers, but generally speaking they don't start wars. Because really they don't have to. Governments are all too willing to go to war on their own, without any puppet mastery.
My grandfather was a Democrat and was nothing like the far left nuts today
@TheDragon2019 You''re right. They used to care about our country and the people in it. Not anymore!
Those starving children are often out fault.
they may be in some cases.
Agreed. Immigration should be based on America's needs not who need's America
ok then why are AI researchers' visas being denied to the point that the largest AI conference is being moved to Africa? qz.com/.../You morons can't even comprehend how big AI will be and how much effort EVERY other country is making to get experts in ASAP. Meanwhile your "America first" is making America LAST instead. China is the biggest sponsor Hack Harvard now, the top prize is to work for Ali Baba. Canada is stealing talent from Silicon Valley. Russia already proved what it can do with Data Science and Machine Learning in the 2016 US election. And let me remind you: the only reason America is at the top in tech now is due to hard working immigrants including STEVE JOBS and Sergei Brain. The current CEOs of Microsoft and Google are both immigrants who came on F1 visa. The top AI researchers in the US are all immigrants. But sure keep yelling "America first" at the top of your lungs.
I'm glad Trump won't get a peace prize because Obama's still hasn't had his taken back despite it being covered in blood.Obama spent years bombing Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, Sudan and God knows where else but what was it all for and what did it achieve? We've become like the British Empire creating a problem so we can fix it.
there is a theory the ones at the top are the British but i dont know about that. pleased to see someone gets it though. it just goes to prove it doesn't matter if you vote republicunt or deludocrat, its just the same
The British royal family maintains a lot of power in the world but not what it once did. They sold of their empire to us during ww2 in return for 50 old destroyers, weapons, loans and access to our production lines. They also gave us every piece of advanced technology they had including radar, jet engines, sonar etc.
yes but when you say 'us' who do you mean... its posible the very corporations that control the usa are infact British owned. not that it makes any difference. its still not in the hands of the people as many would like to think
Not likely if anything US corporations own Britiain. Britain has no real home grown corporations, they sold them off. The British steel industry is owned by Indians and half of London belongs to the Chinese communist party.
To the asker: I am a Pakistani and what Obama did was partially responsible for making me support Trump. Have you seen the show: "Who is America?" if foreign policy is the reason you support Trump, you will stop as soon as you see that.
@shephardjhon you watch Jewish propoganda?
so? is that the only thing you see in Sacha Baron Choen? Are you a Nazi? Yes, I hated him for the Dictator and that Kazakh movie but in this case, those are REAL people he interviewed. The Man himself signed a waterboarding kit, and senators endorsed training kids to use guns. No one forced them to do this. This was not some SNL skit, it wasn't parody, it was REAL. Sarah Palin, a woman who has ACTUALLY been on SNL tried to sue this guy.
@shephardjhon It's political propoganda using humour. Classic Jewish trick.
@shephardjhon you have very little real world knowledge on this subject so please dont hijack my post
@asker like i said its a theory, i didn't say i support it but consider this... the federal reserve is an entity in no way owned by the usa state. so whoever the true controller is, its certainly not the people and that was more my point.
Well we know the controllers are the handful of wealthy families at the top that own everything. The rockerfellers, the rothchilds the DuPonts, the Mellons, the Vanderbilts etc. Basically American Royalty. A clear show of power is whenever the head of the Rothschild family can poke Prince charles and the pope bows to him you realise who's in charge.
i think its move on from that in an even more sinister way though... its not individual families anymore but the corporations themselves have took over ultimate control. the koch brothers and alike have created a monster. corporations have become entities in their own right and control far more than money. will be interesting to see where this late stage capitalism ends but for the moment humanity has become a slave to an abstract concept and no one knows who actually controls the monster if indeed any one actually does. i suspect not
Those companies are lead from the top and there's a power struggle to be top dog. The rothchilds, Goldman-sachs, rockerfellers are still run by dynastic heads.
im beginning to doubt that... like i said those corporations have become self governing in my view.
I'd say Bush is the reason ISIS grew faster lol
There was still no ISIS when Bush was in office. ISIS are the left Osama bin laden militants that were sent to help Saddam. Abu Musab al zarkawi is the first ISIS leader..But in reality prophet Muhammed in the 7th century was the first ISIS leader
Abu Musab Al Zarqawi was killed in 2006. That's 2 years before Obama even was in office. The invasion of Iraq led to an insurgency, indeed led by Al Zarqawi, which eventually resulted in ISIS. The group that spawned ISIS was created in 1999
Yes but it's not Bush who did it.
Bush invades Iraq. As a result, insurgency grew, resulting in ISIS growing.
@tartaarsaus ISIS sprang up out of nowhere in Syria and took over rebel groups there that Obama had trained, armed and funded to help overthrow Assad with the overall strategy of building an oil/gas pipeline for US oil companies undermining Russian oil profits and Putin. Something similar happened in libyia. Obama's failure in the middle East was spreading Islamic terror across the middle East and Africa and no matter how many drone attacks or mercenaries he hired to avoid putting boots on the ground nothing he did made a difference.
@tartaarsaus absolutely correct. Where do you think ISIS got all those brand new Toyota landcruisers, US weapons and US dollars as well as military training.Did 2020 democrat presidential candidate hopeful Tulsi Gabbard not bring a bill to congress to make ilegal for the US goverment to arm & fund terrorist organisations , the "Stop Arming Terrorists bill"?facebook.com/179984082164349/posts/812300402266044One of the reasons why Obama, Hillary and the DNC are enemies of Tulsi Gabbard and why they will shut her 2020 bid down.
Didn't anyone notice that ISIS collapsed shortly after Obama left office
... almost as if there was no more funding.
Correlation =/= causation lol. @Asker incorrect
You must realize that the Iraqi army got a lot of American equipment. It's an established fact they fled battle and left equipment. Hence, in the hands of ISIS
@tartaarsaus that was after ISIS took over the rebel groups in Syria that Obama had armed, trained and funded and instead of attacking Assad instead invaded Iraq.Correlation =/= causation lol. @tartaarsaus incorrect
You mean the CIA. Trump pulled out of Syria.America first is about putting American citizens in America first instead of bombing the shit out of foreign countries.
America only works for me
There's no evidence to support that.
What about Hillary's 20 billion dollar Uranium deal with Russia? It's only treason when Trump is accused of it, not when Hillary actually does it.
@Bananaman177 who haven't the Clinton's taken money from?
They're after more than people's money. Better lock up your kids too.
@Bananaman177 Trump supporters keep talking about a deal that was investigation seven different ways by a Republican Congress and the FBI. In order for people to be found guilty in this country, there must be a trial, evidence, and a verdict. If you want to try people because you don't like their politics, go "back" to Russia.
@RolandCuthbert Yeah and we also keep talking about how the Clintons were controlling most of the Republicans and all the top brass at the FBI, but you always leave that part out.You don't actually BELIEVE in the pro wrestling gimmick of Democrat vs. Republican, do you?You do know that they all cash their checks at the same bank, right? And you can quit trying to conflate Trump with the Republicans too, while you're at it. The Republican party fought tooth and claw to stop Trump from becoming President any way they possibly could every single day until he won, and they are still working against him more than for him, I don't know why you would even put forward that the investigation was legitimate because "Republicans oversaw it."That's exactly why they need to investigate it again. Just because the Republicans were involved, let alone Clinton and their big stupid Homey, Comey.
I think it's sad that you're such a smart guy but you still suffer from Trump derangement syndrome because I know that YOU know that the two-party system is rigged and you've known it for 20 or 30 fuckin' years. But now all of a sudden, "Trump's a Republican."Bull fucking shit, listen to the NONSENSE that is pouring out of your mouth, bro. Even YOU don't believe it!
@Bananaman177 The Clintons were "controlling" the Republicans now? Wow. Didn't know that. That ole' Clinton brought out her black cauldron and put a hex on those poor defenseless Republicans. Or maybe dude. . . maybe, she was sexing them. She was putting the whammy on them. She stroked McConnell and Ryan so well, they just couldn't convict her. Or they just didn't want to share the incriminating evidence they gathered? How is a Trump supporter going to preach to me about Dems and Repubs? You are not here complaining about Republicans not being convicted. You are here whining because the Trump administration is on a pace to set a record number of indictments. That is no one's fault but Trump himself. He is personally responsible for the people he associates with, hires, or gets advice from. Trump is the Republican party. He has absolute control over Republicans in both houses. He has the Supreme Court. But basically you can just say Putin has all the control. Because Trump is a traitor to this nation. He sold us out. And the only question is when will we finally be allowed to see the evidence. And again, we have a justice system in this nation. We do not put people in jail because we do not like their politics. If you want to jail people for being democrats, move to Russia. There they have one party rule. Putin's party.
@Bananaman177 A trump supporter is talking about Trump derangement syndrome.:D
@Bananaman177 I agree. The whole Epstein Clinton connection was covered up, so was the Epstein connection to the British royal family.
Ah! The youtube conspiracy detective agency.
Dude, I can create an entry in wikipedia.
@RolandCuthbert yeah but then it's edited if incorrect
And reedited by extremists after it is corrected.
@RolandCuthbert because it contradicts what you want to believe.
Nah, it is because anyone using Wikipedia knowing that it is open to be edited by everyone, is not playing with a full deck of cards.
@RolandCuthbert yeah because it contradicts your opinion.
"We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated. "
So now you are insulting Michelle Obama? No wonder you are anonymous.
Republicucks, upset that I told the truthhaha, losers
It is incredible. If you post facts, they post insults about Michelle Obama. And they really think they "won"?Every single time that happens, it is simply amazing. Its like if you don't wallow in the muck with them and post insults about Trump's family, you lose because you are not as disgusting as they are.
America first or providing health care in the middle East after we kill and maim them and their children?
It's not isolationism, it's more like being like the rest of UN countries and not kicking the doors down of every dictator we don't like.
That approach I approve of. The trade wars, attempted Muslim bans and silly border wall talk is what I was referring to by isolationism that was going to bite you. I think we’ve tipped a few steps closer to a global recession that will benefit no one.
There's no trade wars, he's just renegotiating trade deals. Every country does this. There's no Muslim ban, it was just extending the travel ban Obama had already very sensibly placed on countries he was bombing the shit out of.A secure boarder is not silly and most countries including Spain, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Mexico have boarder walls while other countries have natural boarders.Global recession is always around the corner and is harvest time for wall street billionaires.
It's not Isolationism, we will still take part in the rest of the world we just won't police the world.
There is no spoon. He’s called it a trade war so I don’t buy into doublespeak. He sure did attempt a Muslim ban and openly discussed it.Secure borders are reasonable but a wall was idiotic and a waste of money that nobody actually close to the situation wanted. Smart walls and more officers at the designated entry points were much more pressing concerns that weren’t just a showboating money pit.
By forcing some of these long time allies to step up and defend thrir own boarders? Ww2 ended 70 years ago and the cold war has been over for 30 years and most of these allies are fairly wealthy. Time to bring the troops home.
He placed tariffs on my country and the EU and started a trade war because he wanted to
The EU has their own tariffs, isn't that part of the reason for Brexit so Britain could negotiate their own trade deals?
Yeah but he's the President of the United States not the President of of the United kingdom.
If you want to swap him for Mrs. May you can have her.
She won't ever get to run. The democrats will stab her in the back before that. She has too many enemies in the democrat party including Obama, Hillary, bill, the DNC, Pelosi, Michelle obama, Warren, maxine waters and Kamala Harris. Only Bernie Sanders will support her.
I'm not going to give up hope. But I do agree that the big political parties tend to eliminate the most qualified candidates in the primaries and conventions.
She's not corporate enough
Then shut the fuck up until you think of something.
Why so cranky. Seems like you need to get laid
Step one of deserving a better country is deporting people like you.
Right.. Screw your self 😉
