Venezuela.President of the National Assembly of Venezuela Juan Guaido is essentially their Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. The Democrats have been calling Pres. Trump illegitimate ever sine the 2018 Election. If she suddenly declared herself President (skipping the V. P.!), this would give other nations the precedent to declare him illegitimate and acknowledge Pelosi as the legitimate, legal President of the United States. Putting this in U. S. terms, does this not sound absurd?
It does under our constitution. But theirs is different, and he has the support of the people. All government authority comes from the people anyway, so if the vast majority of the citizens want someone gone, and that person uses force and the military to stay in power, then they are by default a dictator. Regardless of how they got there. And I am inherently against dictators.
True. Unfortunately, the news media here in the States hasn't exactly been too reliable these days. Checking with non-U. S. sources, 「he has the support of the people.」is disputable.www.aljazeera.com/.../...nues-190129055253356.htmlAnd going back months, this looks like a pre-meditated coup.www.nytimes.com/.../...enezuela-military-coup.htmlAnd Venezuela has the largest oil-reserves in the world.www.eia.gov/.../analysis.php?iso=VENA coincidence?Especially considering the words of the National Security Advisor John Bolton (in 5:35-6:23), I think not.video.foxbusiness.com/.../#sp=show-clipswww.democracynow.org/.../a_war_for_oil_bolton_pushes
I am getting the sense that the people are in support of him, at least in as much as he opposes Maduro. The huge protest last week was evidence of that. But it would not surprise me if this was premeditated, and if foreign powers are getting involved due to the oil.
Yeah, I'm getting a similar feeling, but wish we non-Venezuelans would stay-out and let them settle it amongst themselves. Unfortunately, oil is oil and Washington wants it, as does Moscow, Beijing, Ankara, etc. I would not be surprised if (like in Syria's "civic" war for "democracy"), they all have their hands in the cookie jar, explicitly or behind the scenes.
I agree with that. Not sold on the entirely non-interventionist aspect, but I think the rest is dead on. It's one of the reasons I am so excited for everyone having a solar roof. No more dependency on oil.
That depends on what you define as junk. They were a couple great lines, and some really fun parts
were strong, blah blah, build wall. work together, blah blah. same story.I want to hear... this country is fucked up! It's a disaster. our healthcare is the most expensive , and low effective. I'll watch sometime,
You had me going there for a second. I was like, the government can't fix everything! In fact, the government can't fix most things.
If I said this about Obama... liberals would be screaming racist
