Uk police will demand access to phones and social media from alleged rape victims in order to avoid failed prosecutions. Thoughts?

The police say that this is because of a number of recent cases where subsequent information unearthed from these sources has resulted in failed prosecutions. They are suggesting that they may be unable to proceed with investigations into rape allegations if the victim refuses access to their phones and social media.

Those opposed to this suggest that it will cast suspicion over victims, may stop them from wanting to come forward and will make them feel like they are being "digitally raped" all over again.
