A Republican president could easily get a gun reform (or universal healthcare) law passed, like Obamaa could get a tax reduction law made permanent; it's easy to get something the opposition party wants passed.
Not always, you are mostly correct here though. Mitch McConnell said he would pass trumps bill, however that isn't always the case as stopping this bill from passing would make trump look ineffective and he would go down in popularity as a result.
@goaded A constitutional amendment is required. Or the Commicrats can just stack the SCOTUS with justices who make up law as they see fit like they usually do.
Commicrats? Hahaha thats great. You fucking nazicans make me laugh (This is sarcasm, incase you are too ignorant to tell). What about trumps plans to change gun laws? Which Mitch already said he would allow to pass through the senate. Will these need a constitutional amendment?
@Liam_Hayden "A constitutional amendment is required." To implement gun regulation? Not, it isn't; the federal ban on large capacity magazines and "assualt"-style weapons was found to be constitutional. And the Democrats aren't the ones forcing through SCOTUS nominees by the smallest margin conceivable, they put up really independent judges.
The same thing is happening in the senate except it is republican controlled. Mitch McConnell has full control and he brags about it."Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he will not put a gun bill of any kind on the Senate floor unless President Donald Trump says he would sign it into law."www-m.cnn.com/.../index.html
@devilman666 That's because he's read the Second Amendment.
@Dargil He said he would pass the gun reform Trump was talking about, so clearly he isn't that big of a fan of the second amendment."If the President is in favor of a number of things that he has discussed openly and publicly, and I know that if we pass it, it will become law, I'll put it on the floor," McConnell said on the radio show."Trump expressed openness to expand background checks after the Dayton and El Paso shootings but backed off under pressure from the National Rifle Association."Go read that whole article instead of assuming things lolRegardless, you ignored my point. My point was that Mitch McConnell is obstructing the work of the senate the same way chuck Schumer is doing.
He literally brags about it and calls himself the grim reaper because he kills the democratic agenda. He is obstructing the senate worse than chuck shumer is.
Imagine Chuck Schumer saying "I am death itself because I kill the republican nationalist agenda", this is the equivalent of what Moscow Mitch has said.
Ofc he knows that, this osnt about gun reform ots about popularity, that os why this is happening right before the election rather than a year ago.
Isn't* it's* is* sorry for typos
The House passed legislation to make small women easier targets for predators by disarming those small women and the senate wants nothing to do with it.And calling the other side "Moscow" is rich, especially when your side is filled with Bolsheviks.
@Liam_Hayden lol when the shoe fits... he is blocking election security bills so...Also, if you genuinely compare democrats to communists then you are as big of an idiot as those who compare trump with hitler. Trump and hitler are not equally bad. Democrats and communists are not equally bad either. Finally, it is unconcstitutional to block any bill like that in my opinion, it should be up to the vote of the senate, the senate should be trusted to vote down idiotic bills that hurt the people. It's like if the house of representatives passed a bill that cut welfare spending and the senate leader said "this hurts American people so I refuse to let senate vote on it"
@Liam_Hayden in summary, you're an idiot
Elections are coming up, pretending to work on problems helps get you eelected. This is just part of the popularity contest that American politics has become.
Called term limits but they won't vote on that bc they dont want to stop getting shit for free and have all the power in the world
that has to be the single dumbest thing i've ever heard from his mouth.
What about when republicans stopped obama from passing gun reform? Was that a traitorous attempt to waste time?
@devilman666 Or blocking a supreme court justice nomination. Or bailing out farmers more than twice Bush and Obama's bank bailout?
@devilman666 No, that was unholding the Constitution. Try again.
@goaded Blocking a nomination to the SCOTUS? The Constitution (read it sometime) requires Senate consent. Obama's nominee did not have majority support. I realize Leftists have a hard time understanding the rules, but this is pretty easy.
@Liam_Hayden what about when Moscow Mitch stopped election security bills or medicare bills from being debated? He is blocking any democratic bill that is attempted.
@Liam_Hayden I am Canadian and I think you are the one who doesn't understand things here. Mitch said that he would not let Obama nominate anyone to senate, instead he wanted the next preident to pick the nominee."Of course," said McConnell, "the American people should have a say in the court's direction. It is a president's constitutional right to nominate a Supreme Court justice, and it is the Senate's constitutional right to act as a check on the president and withhold its consent."www.npr.org/.../what-happened-with-merrick-garland-in-2016-and-why-it-matters-now
@Liam_Hayden also, blocking gun reform is not constitutional, if that was upholding the constitution then what trump is doing rn is just as unconstitutional.
@Liam_Hayden "Blocking a nomination to the SCOTUS? The Constitution (read it sometime) requires Senate consent. Obama's nominee did not have majority support."How do you know? It wasn't allowed up for a vote.Go look at the votes for all SCOTUS justices some time. Every Democratic nominee has garnered at leat 60 votes in the Senate, many in the 90's, until the Republicans decided to obstruct everything. The only justices with less than 60 votes in their favour are Republican nominees.
https://wolf-pac.com/ Get big money out of American politics. (Most of it goes to media companies, so don't expect to see any support there!)
To the wuss who downvoted: how about responding, you coward?
False flag.We do not have a gun problem... just an evil, murderer psycho problem. You keep focusing on the tool and not how evil the people are now.Guns have existed for 200 years.
I’m sorry but 200 years ago they didn’t have semi auto rifles that can fire 30 rounds, with a quick clip change. When you have lax gun restrictions, if any, you are allowing people to get the weapons they used for mass murder. We do need to address the evil, but we also need to limit their capacity of violence. I don’t care if you agree.
When’s the last time republicans in Congress have advocated for gun reform? And actually passed it?
I can have 2-3 handguns with endless pre-loaded magazines to change out. Then what are you gonna do?Your laws aren't going to prevent anything.
And a lack of laws is making things worse. Do you at least acknowledge the basic fact that lax or no regulation can allow a psycho to get an ar15 or ak variant, which he can then use to commit mass murder? It’s a yes or no question.
Any gun can.Murderers don't obey laws anyway.
Answer my question
And before you say you did, you didn’t. You’re sidestepping a yes or no question.
If 200 years ago we didn't have automatic weapons, then what weapons did we have?
Muskets. Basic rifles. Flintlocks. Matchlocks. Wheel locks. Cannons. Blunderbuss. Etc.
What about Mitch McConnell? He's been blocking bills from the senate since he became the Senate Majority Leader. Most recently a couple of election security bills that he didn't allow the Senate to debate about.
@MoscowMitch odd. I thought he was the Crypt Keeper.
Nope. He’s a turtle 🐢
Is that meant to be dismissive of his post?
