Gun control shouldn’t be enforced, I have the right to bear arms as a native US citizen in any given dangerous situation to defend myself. Instead, stricter registrations and licensing regulation should be put into place as well as intensive background checks before being allowed to purchase any firearm.Gun licensing has been proven to reduce gun violence and trafficking. Gun licensing has been proven to reduce gun violence and trafficking, Democunts are just too ignorant and have no problem on infringing on personal rights.
Thanks for MHO!
You can't blame it on one party or the other. If anyone paid attention in government at even just a highschool level, you would know it has to be more than half to say yes in one house and then more than half in another and then it needs to be signed by trump or it gets sent back and the process starts again. They don't just sign anything into law - its deliberated and argued over first and then changes are made and so on. It's a huge topic with bunches of smaller details that have to be figured out.
As ever, the President's use of the language is the functional equivalent of threading a needle with a sledgehammer. Suffice to say, much nuance is lost at the very least, let alone deference to the procedures and processes of Congress and the Constitution. To take the last first, the Congress, indeed the whole government, is designed to "waste time." Checks and balances, the separation of powers, two co-equal chambers answerable to different - and differently structured - electorates. The whole point is to prolong debate, encourage deliberation and avoid action until time has passed sufficient to encourage the formation of a broad consensus that is based on well considered thought and thus is less likely to be based in error.Indeed, in that it is designed to give the public time - time that it rarely takes advantage of to be sure - to stop and think. As Madison put it, the purpose of Congressional debate is to "refine and enlarge the public views and GIVE DIRECTION TO THE WILLFULNESS OF THE PEOPLE." (Emphasis added.)This is especially true of the Senate, where the minority is given under the rule wide ranging power to slow action by the minority. As George Washington said, "The Senate is the saucer into which we pour our hot legislation to cool." (This in contrast to the House of Representatives where majority rule is absolute. It being a running joke among House staff that the only oppressed minority left in America is the minority in the House of Representatives.)Perish the thought. At the narrower level, both sides use the system's tendency to delay as a means to gain political advantage. By delaying action, each side is seeking to hold off actions that they wish to avoid until such time as elections or the turn of events can give their side greater numbers. This too, is not a surprise. Indeed, the President - as an aside, I am a Republican who does not care for, and did not vote for him - laments the delaying action of Democrats. Yet at the time when the Republicans in the Senate blocked consideration - rightly in my judgment - of President Obama's Supreme Court nomination of Merrick Garland, no doubt the President would have had fewer objections.Sauce for the goose. In any case, the problem in American governance is not too little action, but far too much in advance of reasoned thought and due consideration. In a populist age driven by media images and aggravated by a technology that rewards instant gratification, delay - even where one is not inclined to support the specific reason for that delay - is the better part of valor and should be appreciated for its own sake.Yes, the Democrats are wasting time. However, and again I say this as a Republican, there are worse sins. The fact that Mr. Trump is impatient that Congress is not hastening to bow before his impatience that he is not getting his way is a a sign of civic health - not bad government. Suffice to say that anything worth having - in politics as in life - is worth waiting for.
He is doing this because the American populous heavily wants gun reform, so it is basically a popularity stunt right before the election. Lets face it, he won't get the bill to pass through congress, the same thing will happen to him that happened to Obama, that is why he is taking his time with this.
A Republican president could easily get a gun reform (or universal healthcare) law passed, like Obamaa could get a tax reduction law made permanent; it's easy to get something the opposition party wants passed.
Not always, you are mostly correct here though. Mitch McConnell said he would pass trumps bill, however that isn't always the case as stopping this bill from passing would make trump look ineffective and he would go down in popularity as a result.
@goaded A constitutional amendment is required. Or the Commicrats can just stack the SCOTUS with justices who make up law as they see fit like they usually do.
Commicrats? Hahaha thats great. You fucking nazicans make me laugh (This is sarcasm, incase you are too ignorant to tell). What about trumps plans to change gun laws? Which Mitch already said he would allow to pass through the senate. Will these need a constitutional amendment?
@Liam_Hayden "A constitutional amendment is required." To implement gun regulation? Not, it isn't; the federal ban on large capacity magazines and "assualt"-style weapons was found to be constitutional. And the Democrats aren't the ones forcing through SCOTUS nominees by the smallest margin conceivable, they put up really independent judges.
I think they should have term limits like the presidency to reduce corruption, and yes they are going up and shooting their own foot every time they speak anymore, you may say they were put in that position by trump but my argument is should we let someone who is so weak they can't learn and correct themselves and just try to hurt america in spite , my answer is no
there's have been many bills for various areas that have been passed by the house and go to die in the hands of Mitch and the Senate Republicans. So his statement is incongruous.
If the two sides cannot agree, then working on proposals that have no chance of passing both houses of Congress would be the real waste of time. That would just be pretending to work on the problem.
Elections are coming up, pretending to work on problems helps get you eelected. This is just part of the popularity contest that American politics has become.
The Democrat led House of Representatives has become the contrary opposition. They act as though they hate the USA and its people. They detest Trump so deeply, they are willing to counter the country's best interests just to prevent him from succeeding. It's really sad.
The same thing is happening in the senate except it is republican controlled. Mitch McConnell has full control and he brags about it."Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he will not put a gun bill of any kind on the Senate floor unless President Donald Trump says he would sign it into law."www-m.cnn.com/.../index.html
@devilman666 That's because he's read the Second Amendment.
@dargil He said he would pass the gun reform Trump was talking about, so clearly he isn't that big of a fan of the second amendment."If the President is in favor of a number of things that he has discussed openly and publicly, and I know that if we pass it, it will become law, I'll put it on the floor," McConnell said on the radio show."Trump expressed openness to expand background checks after the Dayton and El Paso shootings but backed off under pressure from the National Rifle Association."Go read that whole article instead of assuming things lolRegardless, you ignored my point. My point was that Mitch McConnell is obstructing the work of the senate the same way chuck Schumer is doing.
He literally brags about it and calls himself the grim reaper because he kills the democratic agenda. He is obstructing the senate worse than chuck shumer is.
Imagine Chuck Schumer saying "I am death itself because I kill the republican nationalist agenda", this is the equivalent of what Moscow Mitch has said.
The House has passed gun control regulation, the Senate (specifically Moscow Mitch McConnell) has refused to put it up for a vote. Trump knows that. Trump also knows he has two people on the supreme court because of McConnell.
Ofc he knows that, this osnt about gun reform ots about popularity, that os why this is happening right before the election rather than a year ago.
Isn't* it's* is* sorry for typos
The House passed legislation to make small women easier targets for predators by disarming those small women and the senate wants nothing to do with it.And calling the other side "Moscow" is rich, especially when your side is filled with Bolsheviks.
@Liam_Hayden lol when the shoe fits... he is blocking election security bills so...Also, if you genuinely compare democrats to communists then you are as big of an idiot as those who compare trump with hitler. Trump and hitler are not equally bad. Democrats and communists are not equally bad either. Finally, it is unconcstitutional to block any bill like that in my opinion, it should be up to the vote of the senate, the senate should be trusted to vote down idiotic bills that hurt the people. It's like if the house of representatives passed a bill that cut welfare spending and the senate leader said "this hurts American people so I refuse to let senate vote on it"
@Liam_Hayden in summary, you're an idiot
I'm pro gun white people. be tripping and I used to live in the hood with crazy negros and illegals and you gotta keep one. There no need every place just needs to be open carry. There a reason people don't shoot the police station up.My only issue with trump any Republican is health care and stuff for poor low income people.Health care should be free to dirt cheap Low income things like food stamps cash aid and affordable housing needs to be a staple. And we need to help the crazy ass homeless people
Gun control isn't as important as focusing on climate change and how we can curb our disastrous effects on the Earth. The fact that people are STILL arguing about it is a true waste of time.
yeah... with him. trump is an idiot: https://youtu.be/_7JvFMpw_ro?t=450 even the rupublians-those who are working for him are tired of his idiocy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCS0b8o7mFc
that has to be the single dumbest thing i've ever heard from his mouth.
I think we just need to clean house. Everyone. Gone. Dem and Repub. All of those people need to leave.
Called term limits but they won't vote on that bc they dont want to stop getting shit for free and have all the power in the world
Cannot comment on this as the UK Parliament is as screwed up or worse.
The only thing the Dems do is try to impeach Trump. Nothing else
They wasting time and doing nothing for the American people. so whining and move on
Democrats are traitors and are trying to waste the president's time on purpose, build the fucking wall, and stop with the disobedience
What about when republicans stopped obama from passing gun reform? Was that a traitorous attempt to waste time?
@devilman666 Or blocking a supreme court justice nomination. Or bailing out farmers more than twice Bush and Obama's bank bailout?
@devilman666 No, that was unholding the Constitution. Try again.
@goaded Blocking a nomination to the SCOTUS? The Constitution (read it sometime) requires Senate consent. Obama's nominee did not have majority support. I realize Leftists have a hard time understanding the rules, but this is pretty easy.
@Liam_Hayden what about when Moscow Mitch stopped election security bills or medicare bills from being debated? He is blocking any democratic bill that is attempted.
@Liam_Hayden I am Canadian and I think you are the one who doesn't understand things here. Mitch said that he would not let Obama nominate anyone to senate, instead he wanted the next preident to pick the nominee."Of course," said McConnell, "the American people should have a say in the court's direction. It is a president's constitutional right to nominate a Supreme Court justice, and it is the Senate's constitutional right to act as a check on the president and withhold its consent."www.npr.org/.../what-happened-with-merrick-garland-in-2016-and-why-it-matters-now
@Liam_Hayden also, blocking gun reform is not constitutional, if that was upholding the constitution then what trump is doing rn is just as unconstitutional.
@Liam_Hayden "Blocking a nomination to the SCOTUS? The Constitution (read it sometime) requires Senate consent. Obama's nominee did not have majority support."How do you know? It wasn't allowed up for a vote.Go look at the votes for all SCOTUS justices some time. Every Democratic nominee has garnered at leat 60 votes in the Senate, many in the 90's, until the Republicans decided to obstruct everything. The only justices with less than 60 votes in their favour are Republican nominees.
From what I understand, the Democrats have gotten all kinds of legislation going on all kinds of topics, but turtle-head Mitch McConnell has been deliberately sitting on them.
I think Congress is to divided to truly accomplish anything. So yes I think they are overly paid and wasting time.
Democrats or Republicans, it doesn't matter. Congress is broken. Our elected representatives are supposed to be working for us, not the special interests that fill up their bank accounts.
https://wolf-pac.com/ Get big money out of American politics. (Most of it goes to media companies, so don't expect to see any support there!)
I think that you voted for Trump of how your spelled "waisting".
Americans just can’t accept defeat. When will they learn? Whether it be trump or any other clown elected, this country will get screwed.
You know come to think of it you only see one or two congressmen spoke of, what are they doing?
He is right. They have literally wasted the entire term on impeachment over nothing and trying to make small women and other law-abiding gun owners easy targets for criminals.
To the wuss who downvoted: how about responding, you coward?
Considering republicans refuse to even address gun control?
False flag.We do not have a gun problem... just an evil, murderer psycho problem. You keep focusing on the tool and not how evil the people are now.Guns have existed for 200 years.
I’m sorry but 200 years ago they didn’t have semi auto rifles that can fire 30 rounds, with a quick clip change. When you have lax gun restrictions, if any, you are allowing people to get the weapons they used for mass murder. We do need to address the evil, but we also need to limit their capacity of violence. I don’t care if you agree.
When’s the last time republicans in Congress have advocated for gun reform? And actually passed it?
I can have 2-3 handguns with endless pre-loaded magazines to change out. Then what are you gonna do?Your laws aren't going to prevent anything.
And a lack of laws is making things worse. Do you at least acknowledge the basic fact that lax or no regulation can allow a psycho to get an ar15 or ak variant, which he can then use to commit mass murder? It’s a yes or no question.
Any gun can.Murderers don't obey laws anyway.
Answer my question
And before you say you did, you didn’t. You’re sidestepping a yes or no question.
If 200 years ago we didn't have automatic weapons, then what weapons did we have?
Muskets. Basic rifles. Flintlocks. Matchlocks. Wheel locks. Cannons. Blunderbuss. Etc.
well obviously cause to him everyone that doesn't share his stubborn, idiotic opinion is just "wasting time" in his opinon.
Any politician who is highly reactive is awful. So i would say all the democrats and all the republicans suck and should be relieved of their lifelong pay.
My opinion Trump is doing a great job and Congress is doing worthless job they have been for years that's why the only thing they want to do is take Trump down Congress needs to be on term limits
Pelosi and Schumer have done literally nothing but whine and bitch instead of doing their jobs at the behest of the PEOPLE. So even if Trumps not my favorite guy, he's 100% spot on with this.
What about Mitch McConnell? He's been blocking bills from the senate since he became the Senate Majority Leader. Most recently a couple of election security bills that he didn't allow the Senate to debate about.
I agree that the endless focus on 'getting' Trump is a waste of time.
The Democraps in congress is just a sabotage coup against the president.
If anything, Congress should be REPEALING gun control laws. For the most part these less Congress does, the better off we are.
Of course they are. They're wasting their time trying to impeach him rather than be a good model for their party
Bible says a house divided will not stand, I guess our future is americans againt illegals overthrowing usa, I vote illegal mexicans, their Democratic, cartels to become next president, I vote purge usa to mexico..
President Trump does some good things and some things that I don't understand.
can't say don't work there but every 1 in the office should agree on what 1 plan they want
It’s the same work that the republicans didn’t do when Obama was president.
Democrats want white man dead. All a bunch of foreigners , fags , dykes,
No comments. All politics is horse poop
Hard to get anything done with Mitch McConnell.
@MoscowMitch odd. I thought he was the Crypt Keeper.
Nope. He’s a turtle 🐢
Trump has no idea how Congress works.
You’re almost 60 and can’t even spell right? 😭
Is that meant to be dismissive of his post?
** spell ‘correctly’
Fuck trump n congress
trump SAYS a lot of things
