The exercise of Article 2 powers and 1st Amendment rights are not criminal offenses. Congress can try to make laws that criminalize those powers, as they did with The Tenure of Office Act, but eventually the SCOTUS does pick up the issue and tell them the facts.
@Liam_Hayden Impeachment was NOT only intended for criminal offences, and does not have a 'innocent until proven guilty' clause. If congress is sufficiently concerned that a president is compromised or corrupted, they can remove him, using whatever standard of evidence they deem appropriate. It doesn't mean he's necessarily guilty of crimes, nor does it mean there's evidence that meets a standard of a criminal court. Much like getting security clearance, you don't have a legal right to being president unless found guilty of criminal offences. Congress has the power to remove people who they deem too risky.They won't, and probably shouldn't given his base of supporters, but that's a separate issue.

Founders had a healthy paranoia about foreign governments controlling the president. They would not have been okay with trump. What’s frustrating to me is that it could have all been cleaned up pretty easy early. Trump organization has a few billion in loans to Russian oligarchs? As a private businessman that’s fine. As president that’s not ideal. But it would actually have been fairly easy for the federal government to buy that debt so trump. org would have owed US government instead. If you’re a frigging VP level at a bank (which is a huge army of people) there are masses of rules that prevent self dealing. It doesn’t prevent all of it but it makes it harder. Trump refuses to take those sorts of basic steps that other presidents did just as a matter of course (Jimmy carter sold his damn peanut farm to avoid any potential appearance of conflict if interest for fucks sake and by trump he has lobbyists staying at his hotels). Founders would have tossed him for that. Not criminal, but basically not demonstrating that he’s NOT conflicted to a reasonable degree. The worst part is trump is the new standard. There’s way worse corruption coming I suspect.
Umm, no. Impeachment requires a vote of the House with a majority supporting it. That has not happened. Pelosi is worried about forcing votes on this from Democratic House members in districts Trump won. Nearly all of them ran with a pledge to work across party lines. If they vote "yes" on this non-issue they will get slammed for having lied about working with the President. If they vote "no" the Bolshevik wing of the Democratic Party will primary them. Add to this that Pelosi knows that there are nowhere near 50, let alone the needed 67, votes in the Senate.

People often credit the president when it goes well and blame him when it does not. But the thing is, fiscal policy generally takes several months to several years to really impact the economy. What do all these folks have in common now? They were either fired or they resigned.
