Absolutely agree, but I also think a government should be at least charged with giving out true factual information about the situation even if it is dire because the least we can say is they told us the truth rather than as we basically are now, you're adding to the problems in my opinion.
That would be nice. The information is out there it's just difficult and time consuming to find actual source documents and credible information. Most people simply don't have the means or time to dig it up.
The problem with that line of thinking is that the community cannot enforce e. g. closures of places of public gathering through legal means, close off entire towns, tend to not have the means to track down who has been in contact with those who carry the virus and far more. Sure, the community protecting you may be a fun idea. But it would never remotely succesfully materialize
To the contrary, your state, county, and local government have the power to do pretty much everything you mentioned. When was the last time you saw a federal agency, excluding the post office, do anything helpful in your community?
Ah, so that is the government. Thanks for arguing against yourself
By government I was talking federal response, not arguing against myself.
@MrSlim not that difficult if those in power with next to little knowledge about infectious disease would just...hmm, I don't know, try actually deferring to those who have spent their whole lives studying and preparing for this exact scenario instead of thinking they somehow have all the answers. I don't expect a car salesman to know how to do advanced level heart surgery, but I don't expect a doctor who has dedicated his entire life's work to the field, to be able to handle that with relative ease. I mean why even bother having experts if you're not going to use them?? Facts: It's an election year, they all want a sound byte for their campaigns, and what better sound byte than to stand up there and say "I single handedly saved America (or fill in country) from Corona Virus instead of what should be happening which is 'this is a collaborative effort across all agencies and working with local and state governments and health organizations," to try and stop the virus from spreading.
SMH. Why is there an interview with him saying anyone can go get tested, we have kits for everyone, and the people all around him are nodding in unison like he's just said the truest thing there is...cut to Pence saying, we don't have enough kits. It's this kind of misinformation that makes people panic and leads healthy people to clog up the system trying to get tested when they first of all, can't just roll down to a doctors office and get tested, nor should they if they've had no symptoms/haven't traveled to CDC listed high risk areas or come in contact with those that have.

144 cases out of 19500000 people in NY state is.000007% of the population. This is a shit show and you're brainwashed
How am I brainwashed? Numbers are adding up everyday with no updates on the vaccine. Keep preaching "dont worry about it". Its true that it's only killing older folks but I still dont fucking want that shit, you hear me?
This is not an accurate statement considering we have yet to test as many people who actually need testing done yet. Once more kits are in hand, the numbers you see at least in the US are going to rise. I don't see how we would manage an Olympics rapidly approaching with people from around the globe sleeping and training in close quarters and then all going back home unless there is a mandatory quarantine for all athletes two weeks prior to the games and that would be a logistics nightmare.
Absolutely agree. My best friend works for the county health administration and another friend works as a chief community health officer, another as and EMT, and another as a police officer----they are all updating our circle with any up to the minute information they have. Far more enlightening. I'm sure your mom is doing the same for you.
Yeah bro, the vaccine for corona is water
