:( <3. I'm in a similar situation. My grandma is stuck in a nursing some and I can't see her.
not yet? 😂 you sounded like you are waiting someone to die from COVID-19
Nope, it’s not on my wish list… I lost two family members last year and don’t need any more death right now. It’s just that the virus is so contagious, there is such a high complication rate, and it’s so pervasive in the world right now. We’re still more than a year away from a vaccine, the data coming out on therapeutics isn’t great so far, and now studies are surfacing in China that one third of discharged hospital patients that were infected with covid have extremely low neutralizing antibody titers a couple of months after recovery meaning that they likely have already lost immunity and will be vulnerable to reinfection… With SARS people had immunity for about two years. I hope it’s not true, because if it is then it’s real bad. This virus has the potential to infect 75-86% of the world population before reaching heard immunity and if 33.3% of heard is quickly losing immunity it means no heard immunity and it’s going to stay with us potentially even with vaccination… We might have to constantly get booster shots. Larger cohorts will have to be tracked over longer periods of time to determine how long it generally grants immunity, but early indications aren’t looking good.
Not to mention the only reason we are curbing it’s progression at all is due to human behavior and people are complaining all over the internet about staying home for several weeks so inevitably people will stop listening and venture out into the world again so it will flare up hard when many hospitals are currently running at capacity and continuously losing staff. So it’s kind of just a matter of time in that regard…
Additionally RNA viruses are constantly mutating and eventually a significant mutation is going to occur and generate new waves that hit the entire population again. We have documented evidence that covid is jumping from humans to animals now and they are developing symptoms like cough which means they will spread the virus. There were documented cases in China of hundreds of animals dying outside the cities which might be related, but was just passed off as disinfectant pollution… When a virus is in a different host it faces a new immune system which can create selection pressure and promote mutations. We have a number of clinical trials for antivirus which will also act as selection pressures on the virus which might promote news strains that are resistant to those potential therapeutics. So there are still many problems in front of us, and most people are acting like it’s over and they want to get back to normal… smh

Please don't ask me... I will become more broken
Wow. What part of China are you in?
@Jamie05rhs Province called Fujian. I haven't traveled too much, but I've been up the coast quite a ways.
I hope she gets better.
My mom is a nurse in the Metro Detroit. She's seen more than a few people die from it.
@WhistleForTheChoir People die from Suicide, accidents , and etc. This was artificial hysteria.
It's the Chineses way of collapsing the world economy to be the new super power and sell lots of dog jerky
@888theGreat People also die from coronavirus. I'm in China right now, and there was no hysteria here. Yeah, it was a bit much, but that's because American culture is prone to panic. We're too used to having things too good. On the other end of the spectrum, Americans are also bad at getting with the program, which is why the virus is worse in the United States than in any other country. Because people would rather believe it's a sham and keep selfishly acting as if nothing is happening, then just hang out for a few days.
@Handysandy69 China, unfortunately, is going to be the next super power with or without them trying to pull anything like this. This also hurt their economy as well. They just have too many people. If a bunch of countries banded together, in some sort of North Atlantic region type of Trade Organization, then we might stand a chance, but unfortunately, Americans can't cooperate with other countries or even each other, because they're convinced everyone is out to get them, and keep spreading conspiracy theories.
@WhistleForTheChoir America is as America does
