Questions: Education & Career

I've always had a dream career in mind (haven't we all?) and I'm at the stage in my life where I feel I should take the next step towards it. Sadly, I've just got a mortgage so funds are pretty tight at the moment. Would you take that step into the unknown and try to follow your dreams or stay safe with consistent money coming in from my current job?

I'm 21 and still living at my parent's, I have a job though, I do medical billing part time while training to be an entrepreneur and I work from home. My job doesn't pay much because the practice I'm working for is very new and doesn't have much money coming in, but I'm only going to work this job temporarily (about 1 year) before I start investing in stocks and real estate. For now while I'm living here I'm paying for the household essentials (toilet paper, dish soap, trash bags, etc.) which has been a big improvement because we would always run out of those things because we never had much money, and I'm saving my surplus money on my Robinhood account. I set a limit at 23, so at 23 I will either move out or go homeless.

But I recently lost 70 pounds and I'm getting ready to go cloth shopping for the first time in 5 years and I want to start dressing nicer. I'm tired of jeans and tshirts every day, I want to start wearing nice button down shirts and blazers, nothing expensive though just things I can find at wamart. But I feel like it's wrong and I don't deserve it because I'm still living at my parent's house.

by the way my parent's actually like me living here because I help out with the payments and house work. Also, even though I tend to beat myself up for living with my parents still, but I'm learning to be proud of the things I do have like having absolutely no debt (didn't go to college), I have no kids (my mother and my older siblings had kids by the time they were my age), and I have no addictions to anything (which actually runs in the family. Also, I'm not planning on dating until I move out either.

When would you say that it's time to call it quits?

I have had a lot of setbacks over these years.

I turn 25 in less than a month, on social security disability income, and still live at home.

I used to be an EMT. My license was revoked (or I had to voluntarily surrender it).

I am learning to code, yet I am not as proficient at it as I want to be.

I work for a large global company. I have a Masters Degree and after the recession it was hard to get a job. The ones I got were low paying fastfood. When I finally got a corporate job I would add on linked in Vice Presidents, Directors, etc. making $100,000-$200,000 per year. I would look at their resumes to learn and be educated on the path they took.
I did this because during the recession when I would complain that less educated white folks were treated better than educated minorities... I was told it was because of experience.

To my shock many of these 50 year old VPs and Directors were hired straight out of just a bachelor's degree. I saw one white women that were hired as HR Director just 1 year out of her Bachelors Degree! How does she get that job with no other experience on her profile?

Some were hired outside the organization with just a Bachelor's degree. I have SEVERAL coworkers who have held the same entry position for 20 years and not been promoted. All black. Meanwhile, the entire management team other than me is white.

I have a first tier management position as Case Manager. I am more educated than bosses I have often had. I am multi racial but act more like Obama in my relationship with white people. I am the only minority in any tier of management in my department for the ENTIRE 2 state region.

Anybody experience organizational racism?
