I did not believe it so I tried it today and blown away by the effect! Google helps me to understand the science behind it:

"It contains a glycoprotein molecule, with some trailing carbohydrate chains, called miraculin. When the fleshy part of the fruit is eaten, this molecule binds to the tongue's taste buds, causing sour foods to taste sweet. At neutral pH, miraculin binds and blocks the receptors, but at low pH (resulting from ingestion of sour foods) miraculin binds proteins and becomes able to activate the sweet receptors, resulting in the perception of sweet taste. This effect lasts until the protein is washed away by saliva (up to 30 minutes)."

Do you lick your fingers if you have something on them from eating? For example: bbq sauce, cheeto dust, frosting, etc.

I don't think it works well with US store bought pineapples, you may need a certain type to work or like the perfect ripeness you may not be willing to wait for. I just tried it... it was really difficult to have the sections pull apart at first because the skin didn't want to separate where the sections meet. You could pull and pry really hard but then you just smash the fruit. If you made a shallow incision just around the outline of the individual pieces of fruit then it isn't that hard to pull apart.

It really depend son what I'm eating and who wants a bite. Because some people I don't want touching my food, while others can have what they want. I like to share, but sometimes its a no no. Especially if the person is a how, cause i don't know what they carrying. Also, if it means they put their fork in my food, it makes me weary, but that depends on whos fork it is.
