GaG Removed the Private Opinions option for question askers a few months ago.

This is NOT the same thing as answering anonymously. With a private opinion, no one but the question asker and opinion owner can see it.

I used it often in my own questions, because I rarely allow anonymous opinions on the questions that I post. It allows for people that don't want to be trolled or harassed for their answers, to offer an opinion without exposing themselves to that sort of thing.

GaG claims that it was rarely used, and also that there were complaints from users that it was being "abused", as a private opinion comes in as a private message. To use it, the question asker had to have their privacy settings set to allow for private messages from unblocked users.

Would you ever use it if it came back? When or Why Not?

I rarely reply to an "Anonymous" post unless it is such an interesting question that I just can't help myself because I just don't feel comfortable replying to someone who is completely hiding without even so much as a User Name.

It makes me really nervous for some reason. I don't even allow "Anonymous" posts on my questions because of it.

I have noticed over time that many Anonymous posters can be very mean, or worse, and try to take advantage of people and just troll to spark malicious controversy.

Maybe if you do posts as Anonymous and reply, not as Anonymous this time, and explain why you like to do Anonymous posts because I may not be the only one that is uncomfortable replying to your posts... am I?
