There is a lot of peer pressure in high school, and to some degree in college. Do you think that same amount of pressure still exists in our every day adult life?

For example, the pressure to fit in (at work, with neighbors, friends, etc), to get married, have a certain income, type of house, where you should live, what you should drive, how you look (fashion and/or sexual attraction), or what you should be interested in (hobbies)?

So I met this girl she is black, I am white. I think she is very attractive, a cool person, good head on her shoulders and an all around great person. I would like to ask her our but feel like she wouldn't date me because I'm not black. I feel this way since besides one of her girl friends and me she has no friends who are white. She has called me "white boy" in a joking manner before. And the few times I was over to her place her family didn't seem to accepting of me, more so her father and grandma. She also told me before she knew me she called me "cracker" before in a racist way. She said it was because we are neighbors and she would smell me BBQing and it smelt good, so her family would refer to me as that when talking about me BBQing all the time. But she also admitted she thought I was a very different person than I am before she knew me and was a bit stereotypical.

All this makes me think she might not be interested in me. But we are becoming good friends. So I just curious to how open black women are to dating a white guy? Should I tell her I'm into her and ask her out?
