It will be our 6th date, and I will be cooking for him. We've been dating since a month. I am kind of nervous even though I regularly invite my friends for dinner and they always like what I cook. So my menu is the following:

1) French Onion Soup as starter
2) Garlic buttery sirloin steak as main course
3) Creamy potato casserole as a side dish to steak
4) Grilled corn and tomato salad as a side dish to steak
5) Key lime pie for dessert
6) Malbec as red wine paired with steak.

How does the menu sound? I am scared he won't like me as a cook. I need some advices, like should I tell him flat out he doesn't have to eat if he doesn't like in the beginning of the dinner or what? Should I light candles (i dont wanna look too hopeless romantic and cheesy given that my roommates will be home tomorrow and may enter dining hall even though i told them not to.)

I'm not asking Should we date, ik we are perfect just curious about a second opinion.

He's a geeky gamer type, I'm a preppy hipster-y chick, he has really really long hair for a boy that makes him look cool, I'm a model, he's calm, I'm anxious, he's overtly romantic where I'm overly clingy, he doesn't party, I do, I hang out with the kind of people who would dislike him, he hangs out with the people who would be jealous of me, he puts honey in his tea but I can't stand the taste, he's inexperienced, I'm sexual, he's had a long-term relationship whereas mine was 4 months. We are both ex self-harmers who learned our own tricks to get past it.

what do you guys think? Is it often you see the popular/geek combo? What kind of advice to you have to help us succeed?
