So I'll try and make this brief but you can ask me for me details if you'd like.

So a couple years back I met this girl. And for about a year we'd be in the same location. We clicked right away more than I'd clicked with a girl before or since (granted I'm only 21). I quickly developed feeling for her and she might have too (but it's really unknown). Long story short I screwed it up and got anxious about the whole thing and essentially shut down. She understandably stopped coming to talk to me and started giving much shorter replies. Now we leave about 10 hours apart and I've seen her twice in the last couple years or so (including a time she got tickets for a game and invited me because I "was the only one who'd really appreciate it"). Everytime I try to start up conversations now by text they end up falling flat after a while and leaving me feeling empty and regretting not trying to move a relationship forward earlier.

My question now is, in your opinion, should I: try to rebuild conversations through texts and calls to lead up to asking her out or expressing myself, expressing myself out of the blue, or just completely try to move on and forget about her.

I know this person from school and that we are in the same organization. Our friendship was falling apart, because there had been so many misunderstanding. It seemed like it has only about me respecting his wishes and not about "compromising" after knowing him for a while, when he seemed like a caring person at first. I am a very caring person, I struggled to make a decision as to cut the friendship, or should I try work it out with him.

Before the first 'break' from my end, with no talking to him, he told me that he is more than happy to greet me and talk to me in the group only (he doesn't think we should hangout outside the organization). After that 'break' that lasted 4 months, I recently had a Zoom call with the organization. Him and other members showed up, and we all had great times. He appreciated me for the rides when we hangout and do stuff in the past. He also asked questions he would like to know about me, and answered questions I asked about me to the whole group. Everything went well at the Zoom chat for my birthday and I think everyone had a great time, including that person.

Few days later, I messaged him to invite him to continue this friendship. He had basically told me the same thing. He thinks the boundaries is healthy for us, that it is not because he doesn't like me as a person. He also said that he cares about me as a person, that he want to continue serve me in the org (he is a group leader), and that he still wants to be there for me ("... just in a different way"). Most everyone else in the Zoom chat from the org have told me that I am the light in the room, full of (positive) energy. It was a relieve to hear that.

I personally think it is not anything personal against me, but this seem to be in the middle of me cutting him out and being an actual friend. I never encountered such situation and I do think that friends do hangout and talk not just in the same org they are in.
