In my situation, I’m an 18 year old college student who has scholarships to cover all costs of attendance, meaning I have no credit. I’ve maintained high grades while working and earning about $600 a month. My food is Pre payed with a meal plan. I need to have a reliable car since I live 5 hours away from home. My parents pay for my insurance (a total blessing). Recently I found out my car will be totaled due to an accident where I got rear ended. My car is drivable but can have many unexpected costs. I have invested $5,300 into this car since the middle my Jr year of high school, I am now a college freshman. In exchange for my car the insurance company is willing to give me $4800. This would make a substantial down payment on a deal I have lined up for a Kia Forte at $17,000. I have the ability to either get rid of my car and take the whole $4,800 to put towards a new car to start building my credit since I have no student loans or credit cards, or keep my old car for $1,000 and take my car and the $3,800 to a repair shop, pay whatever to fix it and keep the difference to pay for future repairs. I also want to take my parents paying for the new cars insurance into account. Thank you for any advice <3

Side note: My mom would be co-signing on the car but I would be making all the payments.
Building credit is important to me so I can have total financial independence when I get out of college.

I have three/ four siblings. last year my dad wanted me to get my learner's and my brothers too. And we got it and I got mine before him (youngest brother). And whole time through out the year he was so rude and nasty with me. When I got a job he was rude and nasty with me. Then he tells me :'is it because you working now, now you behave this way or that way' whole year I heard that. And now that I was working I thought I'm not gonna do anything for him anymore because I bought him so much stuff and spoiled him this year was different I didn't buy him anything. And he bite my head off always. Watched everything I do and always had a problem with it. And now while I was working. My eldest brother bought him a car and he promised he will teach us how to drive so that we can both get our license. But I was working 12hr shifts so I was always tired man I slept most of the time. And my eldest brother took my younger brother for drives but when I ask my eldest brother take me for a drive I also want to learn. Then he always has an excuse. I mean we are siblings. I just feel like it's so unfair towards me and now that my youngest brother can drive. He would boasts in the house not that I am jealous but I feel like it's unfair because everytime I ask show me too :'my brother is always busy or has an excuse or I should pay a lot of money for me to take a drive' it's so unfair. And when my brother take me for a drive then when I get something wrong as I am still learning just as he learned he would laugh me out in my face.
What is this? It's not like we are strangers who competes with one another. It's like when I don't get something right when I drive he would laugh. So next year both of our license will expire because license is only valid for 2 years in South Africa.
I'm feeling very outnumbered. And alone. I can't even ask my own brother to teach me he always has an excuse but when my younger brother goes for lessons then my eldest brother would jump to help him.
