I was unfortunate enough to be cheated on recently by my husband. He had sex repeatedly with a woman who was having a cold sore outbreak. He thought cold sores were just sores from having a cold. His affair managed to infect me with the cold sore virus on my privates, and it was VERY unpleasant.

In my research, I have learned that around 60-80% of people in the world (and in the United States) have the cold sore virus even if they do not know it. 20% of people have the better known genital herpes virus, and almost 50% will have that strain by the time they are 50 years old. It's one of the top causes of virus related blindness in the U. S. Most people catch it while they are still babies and sticking everything in their mouths and sharing toys and food.

With so many people infected, I find it strange that I am only hearing all of this after being infected. How can something so common be such a secret? How many people suffer with on or more of these issues? Honestly, I'm very scared. I know I'm not the only one.
